So a friend had me watch this show so he could rant at me about it. But I actually liked it. A lot. Planning to rewatch it soon. I see I am in the minority. Typical. Of course, I am the kind of person who loves character drama and isn't that into mecha. And I wasn't really into Evangelion. I just watched for Rei. Someone has suggested that bI am too similar to the cast, so their issues seem dull and pedestrian to me. Could be.
Also, as is typical of me, the internet's "worst girl" is my favourite character. I loved Ichigo. Again, typical of me.
I always said evangelion is more psychological slice of life series masked as mecha series.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Darling in the FRANXX was not a bad anime, but I felt that it could have been better if some things had been paced out better.
The manga, despite being as lewd as you can expect from the author of To Love-Ru, actually fixes the pacing issues and makes the characterisation more organic for everyone involved.
Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.Ending still feels rushed though.
I actually like D Arling, one of the thing I like is that Zero two actually mellow out after falling geting with the protagonist, to many series have chararter like that being wild for the sake of being one.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Even over a year later it’s still an infamous ending that people regularly use to list series that went under major decline.
Giant bio-mecha ship Zero-Two is a common mention.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I liked the show. Did it stop making sense after a point? Sure. Was it still fun as hell to watch? Hell yes.
@ Cross
Oh surely, but then again what could have come after the battle would have required going Off the Rails in the regards to the anime to have a proper development of events.
Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.The honestly truly terrible thing about this show is that it wound up severely damaging Studio Trigger’s reputation for a while.
Sure most of the fault lay at A-1 Pictures but people still kept blaming Trigger because of their heavily advertised involvement turning them into quite the joke.
Though they managed to put out good work since then to negate Darlings damage but ya know never a good thing to be associated with a lambasted show.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah the show was fun and while it kind peak down after episode 15, it was really good for a while.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Kind of makes me want to see this show being given the Super Robot Wars treatment to see how it can be fixed, like linking the Klaxosaurs with the Dinosaur Empire or something.

Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.It fits super easy with GaoGaiGar. They just didnt have a fairy boy to turn the enemy cores back into people.
Chocala, yo tambien tuve esa idea.
Plus, they both aren't powered by "Magma"?
Watch me destroying my countryIt's a real shame that the ending went so pear-shaped.
Even so, I'm still really glad that I watched it through to the end, and I still overall like the show. Zero Two and Hiro's relationship was the main reason for that, as I was fully engaged whenever they were onscreen. Some have stated that they wish the series would get another season, and to be frank, so do I, if only so that it doesn't end on such a lame note.
I am forever thankful they did official 4koma where Zero-Two wonders what it would be like if she were a boy. They honestly needed the official 4koma gags as bits at after credits to lighten the mood and/or shorten the stupid parts I HATE HATE.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I think the show almost had a coherent thesis about masculinity but they bungled the landing for character exploration so hard
oh well I'll still love my trash son Zorome who did absolutely nothing wrong
If Trigger didn’t immediately follow with SSSS.Gridman, a show they did pretty much have complete control over save the folks at Tsuburaya having to sign off on a few things, their reputation would have sunk much lower.
x9 I honestly saw more people blaming A-1 for any bad part of the show and praising Trigger whenever something positive happened.
Regardless, rather than blaming a whole studio, should people not be blaming the show's writer????
I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boysAgain. I don't really like Evangelion. I DO like Franxx. And while I like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, that quality only appears later in the series. While later episodes of Gurren Lagann eclipse Franxx, I wouldn't say the same about early episodes.
I mean, I considered the teen pregnancy an entirely appropriate plot point despite what most think, for example. (Sure, Mitsuru was hardly my favourite character and he was one of the less interesting ones, but I agreed with the plot point).
The majority prefers pointing fingers at studios as opposed to important figures. It's easier and labeling an umbrella as corrupt hits home harder. South Park does a great job at this with Mickey Mouse.
I'd heard about this one but just started the first 2 episodes.
This anime is really horny isn't it.
I knew there was a sexual metaphor in this somewhere but the moment the girls became the... "engines" and the guys had to "ride" them to pilot the mecha, I had to take a minute.
And the innuendo just kept going from there. I'm already loving this dynamic between Hiro, Zero 2, and Ichigo.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Episode 3.
Damn my addiction to toxic women. First Azula, then Haruhi Suzumiya, and now Zero-2.
Mitsuru wasn't enough for 0-2 it seems.
The "Klax-osaurs" seem like pretty generic EXP farms atm. Also most of the B-team is really earning their place on the B-team.
The robots adopting the faces of their pilots reminds me of Gurren Lagann and I adore that.
I don't get why the kids seem to misunderstand what a "kiss" and a "darling" is, but they have the "kissing ceremony" and still get embarrassed by the act of kissing. Relationships and social dynamics seem to be a thing but there's pieces of it missing.
Episode 4
Awww, they had a moment. 0-2 escaping and shooting her way back to Hiro like that. Kamina/Simon vibes...
Does 0-2 qualify as a Manic Pixie Dream Girl?
why do the giant robots have BREASTS

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Zero-Two is indeed a toxic manic pixie dream girlfriend.
Just to give you a heads up, the story pretty much collapses in on itself post episode 15. It's a shame too, as up till then, the show was going great. Definitely a result of them not having a plan post that episode.
I'm still hoping that they return to this series though. According to Studio Trigger, it's all up to Nishigori if he wants to do so.

Well, if you want increased boobage, the manga is your way to go...
