I'm almost looking forward to it. I say almost because Lightning is a massive prick as well, albeit one who's mostly acting because humanity attacked first...I think. I'm still not sure if his attack was always going to happen or not. Whatever the case, he still destroyed the Ignis world to go through with their plan, so he still counts.

Fortunately, his defeat at the hands of Yusaku and company is assured, so I can still enjoy him splattering Jerkass Shepard against the wall since he'll get his much later.

Lightning definitely would have attacked first if Hanoi hadn't.

And I hate that since it proves the kidnapping piece of trash that is Revolver’s Father right. Especially since this whole thing is his fault. Then again only two Ignis out of six are actually hostile to humans so he’s full of it anyway

Blood Shepherd is challenging Lightning to a duel? R.I.P. Blood Shepherd. It was fun while it lasted.

It'd be nice if he happened to horrifically cripple Lightning while he was at it...and then the data from their explosion fries the mind of Revolver and Spectre...and somehow hits their friends...and Windy...

...yeah, just all the jerk faces.

He did quote Dante during the duel, but I was talking more about the pseudo-archaic in that portal inviting Shepherd. This bit really changed the tone of the character for me. Before I thought he was the machine with no excess he claimed to be, but now I see as just some guy acting like a smartass. I really hope Ai calls him out on how he acts exactly the humans he despises so much.

The portal was also quoted from Dante. Lightning even said "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here." Lightning was reading a book while those sentences were spoken. He most likely was actually reading Dante. There are a few other hell references, like when Blood Sheppard gave his father red spider lilies or hell flowers, which are said to grow at the entrance to hell.

Ah so Lightning is Satan and his God(Creator) was right about the inevitable attack by AI.

He is more Satan in a Fallen Angel way. I think Saten had the same motivation in Paradise Lost as Lightning. Both were displeased with humanity and rebelled against their utopia for that reason. Though Lightning's rhetoric made more sense than Satan's. Then again God was unambiguously good in Paradise Lost, whereas here he is responsible for kidnapping and torture.

Stupid question. But does this anime takes the same place as original Yugioh verse and other Yugioh verses

DM/GX/5D's take place in one universe. ZeXal/Arc-V/Vrains have their own separate universes.

With a name like Snatch Drone I was expecting that card to let Blood Shepard take control of Judgement Arrows himself instead of just being a permanent Mystical Space Typhoon (I was thinking then that Lightning would proceed do what Blood Shepard did to wipe out his field then take him to the mat). Armatos Colosseo seems kinda OP without a "once per turn" limitation but I liked the call back to Yusaku's second duel with Bowman and the extra flair that his Link monsters got on being summoned.

Heck, Lightning was pretty extra this episode in general.

Snatch Drone seems to also have an effect on it negating any other cards with the name of the targeted card. So it's more like Cursed Seal.

Whelp! the asshole wins.

A reviewer I watch pointed out a bit of a minor problem (more of a nitpick really) that I agree with: I was expecting Lightning to pull out something bigger. Legatus Legionis doesn't feel like a huge fuck-off boss monster. It feels more like a mid-boss.

Blood Shepard tried, but in the end couldn't overcome the guy who's explicitly making his own cards with the license to have them be as OP as he wants (Magica Alcum can really just completely wipe the opponent's field as long as its linked to Judgement Arrows, huh?).

So Mr. Galaxy Brain is up next. Go dueling Takeru or Aoi instead would likely lead to more interesting or thematically juicier writing but since it's been almost two months since Yusaku's last duel I guess the show's getting jittery.

The field wipe is Legatus Legionis. Magica Alcum just protected it from being destroyed by sending Judgement Arrows to the grave.

I see, the card's description on the wiki was misleading. I unfortunately tend to zone out a bit when duels start becoming so effect-heavy (oh god the Zarc duel and its walls of text...).

Had a crazy ass dream last night.

Blood Shepherd dueled a female duelist (I don't remember who she was. It might have been Mai Valentine) and he had her on the ropes, but thanks to the Power of Friendship she summoned some ridiculously OP version of St Joan. It had four different effects that she could use just any old time she pleased. I only remember one of them though: swapping the top twenty cards on their decks, because Blood Shepherd tried to use some trap card to draw.

I woke up after Blood Shepherd tried attacking her physically.
