I watched an interview in which it was hinted that they are already putting some groundwork in the early episodes by adding in details which will be important later on...so I have kind of the hope that the show will be like Agents of Shield, you know, the kind of show in which the writers actually remember what they did a few episodes earlier.

You know what really bugs me since the first episode? Why was Tandy forced to call her father to fetch her from her lessons? Was her mother supposed to pick her up but didn't because of her addiction? Or was he supposed to do it and initially forgot because he was busy with work? If they clarified this I must have missed it....

They didn't clarify, but maybe the lesson let out early. Or the mom didn't show up because of the pills.

She asked where her mum was, so I figured that her mum was meant to pick her up and she had to call dad instead. It’s implied not stated directly though.

It kind of looked like this happened quite often...I mean, which child knows how to call her dad at work in a case like this, and then waits calmly, in the rain no less, until he shows up?

A well trained raised one. It could happen often, but then it would bring up the question why there wasn't something in place in case. Otherwise she could have been taught to call someone and not wander off, since in some scenarios the child would try to get home themselves.

[up] Look, I had alternative numbers just in case I can't reach at home, too. But I would have still been overly nervous having to call one of them, and I would have been way more nervous having to wait alone when everyone else was already gone, too.

Yeah it did look like it happened pretty often, I took it to mean that her mum being an addict and forgetting here had been going on for a while.

That's what I took away from it, too, I just wasn't sure if I read it correctly.

Got that as well, especially after seeing her pop the pill later on, just giving alternate view since aside from her mother's addiction their home life seemed fine at first.

I actually don't think that it was. I have the feeling that it was already pretty sh... at this point, with her father having problems at work and her mother knowing nothing of it and I assume popping enough pills that she neglected her daughter (and she better had to be popping pills and not just being careless). But I guess Tandy could deal with it as long as her father was still around.

That the mother things that it was perfect is most likely her lying to herself. Because at least back then there was money around which made everything easier.

I'm not sure the father was having major problems at work. Yeah, he was yelling at his boss about a recent project, but that seems like standard workplace drama. Then it unexpectedly turned much more serious, and the company jumped on the chance to use him as a scapegoat because he was dead and couldn't defend himself. If he had survived, I suspect his boss would have been the scapegoat instead.

[up] Eh, he was screaming that they had to shut down the project NOW and that they should inform the government about something. That didn't exactly sound run-of-the-mill. (But then, I think it is kind of hard to work in a high position at Roxxon without getting corrupted at least a little bit).

I honestly don't think the mom started doing drugs before the dad's death. I think it's more likely that she started afterwards once they lost everything.

I was lost on that myself. It seemed like she had a drug addiction the way Tandy told it, but the flashback to Roxxon taking stuff out of their home made it seem like it only started after he died.

I mean, either way, it's a drug addiction that probably contributed to their lives going downhill very fast.

The impression I got was that she was prescribed pain pills for something (young Tandy mentioned something about her back) and she was taking more than she was supposed to. Then once her husband died, she went completely out of control.

Caught the first two episodes. I thought the pilot was really well edited, doing a great job of bouncing back and forth between the two storylines. I'm not familiar with the characters, so I don't have any preconceived notions for them. I think both of the lead actors are doing a good job at portraying the characters as the show presents them.

Anybody else find it pretty depressing though? Like JJ has darker things happen in it, but Jessica's sense of humor really helps balance that out. With this being on Free Form, I thought it might have a lighter tone.

Some things I'd like to see in the future: - Better sense of place. I forgot this took place in New Orleans, which is crazy. For as bad as the Inhumans was, I never forgot it was in Hawaii. - Better visual for Cloak's power. I get that it's supposed to be shadowy, but when most of the scenes take place at night, it just muddies everything.

Anyone know which service/channel is getting this in Australia?

Couldn't say honestly. Sorry.

I googled "Cloak and Dagger Australia channels" as a shot in the dark but didn't come back with much of anything.

New episode out tonight. Trippy but good. Character development on both sides and all that. Hope they do something about Tandy's boyfriend, though. Last we checked he was still in jail waiting for Tandy to bail him out. I mean, I know she was kinda busy this episode, but he didn't even get mentioned (except for in the vision).

I really liked it and I normally HATE dream sequences. Loved the whole "You have to try something else" line.

I think the big difference between what the episode did and the typical dream sequence is that it actually furthered the plot. A lot of times an episode like this feels more like a diversion, but this doesn't.

I rather liked the episode. They finally made use of New Orleans, it was rather creative in how it told its story, and it furthered the story.

[up] Yeah, that was a big part of it, but I also was really invested in the different scenarios with the possible outcomes.

Just caught up, I really like this show. I like how different it is from the superhero shows on television. I would have preferred that it had been on Netflix, but that's probably just me.

The show really is taking its sweet time with getting Cloak and Dagger together, though, which is both a really good slow-burn and kind of irritating. I really like both characters. Tandy is kind of the worst, but something about her just makes me want to root for her. And Tyrone just deserves all the hugs in the world. Poor kid.

Things I don't like: Two things were mentioned before- the lighting and the lack of humor. This series kind of has no levity. It's not the most depressing thing on television, but it might get melodramatic if the writing doesn't stay up to par like it has been. And yeah, the show is too dark at times in terms of lighting. I found myself squinting at the screen a couple of times.

Well, I was laughing about the lawyer boy friend. Not that I trust the guy.

Sadly the show seems to do much better with streaming that live.

[up]It's the summer and it's Free Form. This doesn't have to pull network TV numbers. I can't imagine it's a super costly series to produce either.

I think this show's very clever in its storytelling. Every episode feels fresh and different. Part of me wishes I had a better idea of the direction it's going in, but I think that helps the show since it's more about our evolving main characters. Good stuff.
