ITT: We Have All Become Pokémon

"... Do we have to?" Finley asks, looking to Mila.

"Mila, for so long I vowed I would never hurt anyone. I almost broke that vow. I would never be able to forgive myself if I went out of my way and cut at him. If he didn't move... bugh, I feel ill..."

"Hmm..." [I pull myself from off the wall. I detect the faintest bit of revisionism within her words, perhaps an emotional backspace after her falling into the supposed warm throws of VA for that briefest moment. I'm a little disappointed that I still can't draw anything conclusive from it...but again, I'm reaching. If she doesn't have it, she doesn't have it.]

"Y'know, we were in Hoard when we had a run-in with...uh, those...Pawniards?" [Damn, I guess I got it just that bit wrong. Either way, I continue.] "Yea, we were tryin'a talk to one of the...constituents, no, no...a clerk or a secretary for the, the Chairgon. Cute Flaafy lady, though I kinda wish she'd've stuck up fer 'erself more."

[I'm losing the story a bit. I roll my hand, willing myself to get on with it.] "Anyway, somewhat...confusingly, she was...being beseiged by those guys, the Pawniarmy...we infiltrated the building, gotten into her apartment..." [I chuckle.] "I threw her china at one a'them."

"So we skedaddle with her down the steps, and she..." [Right, right, I never told her that.] "Well, turns out she was a Ditto, 'n she turned into a...the bigger Pokéball-lookin' one, can't get the, the name, and Self-Destructed, blew away basically all a'them..."

[I rub the back of my neck.] "I...I don't know if they ended up makin' it...and...a'guess I got a little paranoid about gettin' caught, 'specially with this resistance thing we were caught up in that...it's all stupid confusing. A-anyway, her being a Ditto and me being a Smeargle, I thought it best to Sketch her, to try 'n mask myself..."

[I rub my chin.] "Y'know...first form I took, I was basically imitating her, tryin'a stabilize myself after being a big ol' AKIRA blob for a while...I hafta wonder how she's doing now...'specially after Hoard went:" [I blow a raspberry and bring my thumb down.]

"Well, some of my wonder for this world is slowly mekting away." I say as I listen to more from both Sarah and Eliot.

(Well, I am a pokemon, battles can be very intense. I should really take this more seriously. Or else... Nono, just be calm an- did he just say akira blob?)

Outside

Arcsdamn, it like...really IS a small world... *"Sarah" exclaims to Eliot as she processes his story. Figuring it best to feign ignorance at the right moments, she remarks* ...okay okay, I'm like...going to assume you totally tossed some human junk in there because I didn't even catch half of that, but that explains a lot — you really can transform, I just thought that scarf was like this popular fashion item among humans...

*making a quick aside to James, "Sarah" says* Well, the world has rules, y'know? I've only been in this one, but wouldn't like...all worlds just be boiled down to rules?

*she then turns back to Eliot, paw to chin, and asks a couple more questions* So like, that means you really ARE the "Hoard humanmons"? Also...what in Arcs' name is a pokéball?

Foyer

*Tilly shrugs, mentioning* I do understand your point of view, even if it did take my linking with Lilly to truly understand how she felt. That said, there are advantages to mother's methods — our entire family has employed them for hundreds of years to ensure continuity of our business interests, and to expand into new territories.

I look over to Eliot and then back to Sarah. "Well, back when humans probably were around in this world. It was basically an item used to capture pokemon. It's how the humans were able to travel around the world without getting themselves killed by other Pokemon. When the pokemon is captured that is how a friendship is formed, or its just how the deal works when they wanna travel with the human." I explain using what knowledge I know. "But, sometimes it's just usedfor capture in general even against the pokemon's will. Heck humans even made the master ball. The highest form of capture to a pokemon that even legendaries can't escape from."

That's...like, majorly disturbing... *"Sarah" simply states in response to James, a sentiment that's fairly genuine...her human self not really knowing the full implications of the series' main symbol* ...I bet when the humans disappeared our ancestors like totally raided the places and destroyed them all, right?

I mean, I wouldn't know what one looks like, but like... *she briefly pops out her claws to make a point* I'd probably destroy any weird looking ball item I find after learning that, y'know?

Foyer

*Tilly shrugs to Marsha, saying* An understandable sentiment...

"I dunno, it could be useful...if we ever gotta contain anyone." [...oh, right, I know why I made that comparison.] "Appearance-wise, it's, uhh, red on top and white on the bottom? And one Pokémon looks like one...Voltorb, that was it, and Electrode was the evolution with the colors flipped..."

Foyer

"Hmm... well, past stuff or not... did you ever end up finding friends who like books too, or?"

I gently pat Sarah on her back to calm her down a little. "It's alright. Since no humans are around the pokeball's can't be made cause no one knows how to make them. And even if there were any of them they'd left have become so old that they would crumble to dust. So we've got nothing to worry about."

Marsha < > Marlon

(Marsha heads back into the kitchen:)

Marly, are yas ready ta go yet?

Yeah.

(I get up and join Marsha. We rejoin others in the foyer:)

Are we all ready to start out yet?

(I ask.)

Outside

*remembering full well that they had a whole Pokémon Center almost up and running in the Agartha ruins, "Sarah" highly doubts what James is saying...she opts to pass off that sentiment to James as* I'm like...not so certain — ever been to a museum? I'm sure a lot of the "human" stuff there is totally fake, but never is a foolish word in general, y'know?

*then addressing Eliot's point, she simply says* Thanks...I'll make sure they're not moving before I, well... *only to back off and grin sheepishly* ...like, what am I saying? It's not like they'd be all over the place, y'know?

Foyer

*Tilly nods* To an extent — I likely have spoken to Dinah before we began traveling together, though perhaps I have been too consumed in my studies... *then she ponders on that for a moment, realizing something else of substance* Now that I do think of it, though, I do tend to be more laid back on my travels — perhaps I might recognize certain kindred spirits when revisiting other towns with you all...

Andy steps out, seeing the group outside. Noticing Sarah, and remembering that he still hasn't initiated yet.

Hey there, Sary. You getting accustomed to the group yet? We are an enigmatic bunch, and it can be very easy to get messed about in everyone's affairs. So if you need a hand to help you out, then I'm your man, boo. He had to lay it on thick to make up for lost time.

"Oh, you guys have that too?" I question, now wondering what they could have preserved from humanity before they all went extinct... Well, not totally extinct considering we are here. My thoughts immediately go to simple items like a television, toaster or even an entire car.

Foyer

"Fair, hope that goes well."

"And, hey, I'm trying to get back into reading more, so I'd be up for talking about books."

-to Marlon and Marsha- "Yeah, I'm ready to go."

They turn to Tilly. "You?"

[...oh, my god, Andy, I think I just vomited in my mouth a little.] "You could not do that to every woman that comes into our group, y'know..."

Outside

(Is he trying to hit on me? Guess it makes sense...I suppose even he wouldn't have known what's what with a Diglett...) *"Sarah" thinks to herself, giving a lightly awkward look toward Andy, before saying* Oh uh, Carlo, right? To be real, I think I'm totally getting used to you guys — even if you say things that go way over my head.

But uh, thanks y'know? *she closes off with, then turns to address James with a somewhat generic answer* Yeah, though maybe only like...big towns or towns with some rich mon who likes history have them? Though that archaeologist guy — if he's like really an archaeologist, he could tell you all about it, y'know?

Foyer

*Cart!Tilly nods to Dieter, saying* I'd be happy to give some recommendations next time we reach a library, and...yes, it does seem that time. I'm quite ready, and Lilly knows where to go. *she then starts autofollowing out*

Post Office

*Lilly finished and sent her letter, and is now heading straight to the docks*

Marlon, Marsha

(Marsha calls out to whoever is still in the house:)

C'mon, guys, we're headin' out!

(After this, follow the others along outside. Once there we happen across Sarah, James, Eliot, and Andy:)

Oh uh...you guys ready to go yet?

(Did I just walk in on something?)

I exit the house with a pastry half-stuffed in my mouth. I think this is my fourth one...

I'm ready to go if you all are, Andy puts forward.

-Milo is suddenly between Sarah and James-

Ooh, I was summoned?

"If I remember when we come across a museum I'll take a look amd see." After that I look past her and see Marlon apporahc us asking if we are prepared. I srand to my feet and give him a thumbs up."Yup."

Outside Lucille's -> Streets to Docks

Speak of... *"Sarah" cuts that short, then tells James — loudly enough for Milo to hear* ...well, if you have any questions about like...ancient relics and junk, Milo's your mon...I think?

*she then nods to Marlon, nudging her duffel pack while saying* I've been ready. Let's go... *before autofollowing those she's been speaking to (James, Eliot, Milo, Andy)*

Forest Outside Gleamscape

*a possibly familiar Farfetch'd is still a ways away from the town, with a special delivery en route to Lucille's — as well as a couple other locations in Gleamscape*

Ocean

*a certain Basculin had packed up her "important" belongings hours ago...after slipping through some seldom traveled routes, she hit the beach and is already en route Slak Rock, albeit struggling somewhat due to her torn tail fin*
