Hmmm. If it's only been 100 years, then I lost that linguistic drift argument- and I do buy that figure, considering how small a village it is.
but then the question becomes 'why don't they have any old-world knowledge?' The first generation would've had to intentional repress it, and consider it's only been 100 years, I doubt that they were the people who cause the petrification- surely they would've given themselves a bit more distance from everyone else than that.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Personally, I just remembered that this is a sci-fi series and reminded myself not to care about things like linguistic drift and such. But yeah, liking Kohaku so far (she's the real heroine maybe?)
I figured it'd be less than 200 years because there aren't too many things that would eat through rock faster than nitric acid. Couple that with a lack of language drift, and it would make sense that even if she never met her ancestors from before the petrification, there would at least be living memory of them.
Seems a lot of the villagers have names from gemstones/minerals and chemical elements. That's interesting considering their apparent lack of knowledge of science.
Is it just me, or has every chapter been fantastic since Taiju was shoved offscreen and Senku was given all the focus?
Pretty much, yeah. Taiju is really the weak link so far. Even Yuzuriha has made herself more likeable.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. Some mangaka don't seem to know how to make their main characters interesting.
Though I guess we could say that Senku is The Hero and the other dude is a Supporting Protagonist, despite being the initial viewpoint character.
One Strip! One Strip!Senku probably is the hero, since he's Dr. Stone.
It might actually be a good exercise to figure out how to make Taiju's side of the story interesting.

New chapter out.
Senku blows Chrome's mind. Hell yeah SCIENCE!
New chapter out.
More HELL YEAH SCIENCE
It shouldn't be surprising for a series about science, but the author's attention to detail is quite remarkable…
That look of despair when Senkuu realizes they didn't even figure out that Earth was spinning.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Senkuu, the true hero of this story.
Fuck that other guy. I hope he never comes back.
...I'm half joking, but I do want him to become more interesting if he's gonna return.
One Strip! One Strip!Damn is Senkuu fucking awesome. He's got an amazing new pair of lackey's to help him now. Better than the previous duo actually, heheh.
That village chief has me worried though a confrontation with the villagers is inevitable. I'm calling that Senkuu earns the support & loyalty of the village by curing Ruri's illness.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah, I was just thinking that Chrome and Kohaku are pretty much a straight upgrade on Taiju and Yuzuriha.
Now, the interesting thing about the villagers' suspicion is that it confirms that there's more probably-hostile loners out there besides Tsukasa. The question is, will they join him or will they serve as a secondary antagonistic force, or even end up (re)joining Senkuu and the village?

That reminds me of that Bakuman chapter, where Eiji's first antagonist for Zombie Gun wasn't very interesting, so he killed him off early on and created another. It might be a similar case with Taiju/Yuzuriha vs. Chrome/Kohaku.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.I feel sorry for Taiji/Yuzuriha then.
It's not their fault the author failed to make them interesting, and now they're essentially being replaced because of their creator's inability to do anything good with them.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with what everyone is saying, but it still. I guess I always think any character can be good with the right amount of effort.

One Strip! One Strip! They're not being replaced; it's just that Taiju's not the protagonist.
Yeah, it's not like they've been written out of the story. Their roles have just changed. Personally, I think that being close to Tsukasa is a very interesting opportunity for both of them to develop, particularly Yuzuriha who has been held back by the fact that the vast majority of her interaction has been with Taiju.
Yep, and secondary cast members can be swapped in and out as necessary.
I fully expect them to come back having fully drunk the koolaid and be antagonists.
And then what.
Kohaku could hand both of them their asses on a silver platter.
One Strip! One Strip! So Senku manages to count the seconds he spent petrified, but forgets that in the 5700's, the North Star is Iota Cephei, not Polaris.
Maybe he didn't have much time to study astronomy?

Heh, if the columns are families then it looks like there are three sisters named Ruby, Sapphire, and Garnet.
