For such a large trope, we need a better call to action than "bloat".

The trope seems to be getting pretty bloated. Would it be useful to split it into in universe examples and out of universe examples? In Universe would be things like a comic relief character in a comic book jokes that another character is going to bite his head off, then a year later the other character is turned into a monster and graphically bites the comic relief character's head off while out of universe examples would be things like the voice actor for a Loveable Sex Maniac character in an anime later being arrested for sexual assault.
