It did break his heart, though. Between Infinite screwing the pooch on everything besides gameplay and the strain of having to deal with the fanbase due to maintaining his middle of the road stance, that whole situation left him very dour.

He adores its gameplay, but he's never been under any illusions that the game didn't screw itself over royal and disappoint a lot of people, himself included.

I'm well aware of what BS came with this game. It wasn't just the game it's also what the community did to Max. It's why I'm so vitrioled towards Marvel, Capcom, & the FGC

Rewatched Thorgi's MVC 4 videos, and I'm way too on board for his roster ideas.

  • Marvel Veterans: Captain America, Spider Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Wolverine, Deadpool, Storm, Magneto, Doctor Doom, Captain Marvel, Thanos, Black Panther
  • Capcom Veterans: Ryu, Morrigan, Zero, Strider Hiryu, Wesker, Tron Bonne, Phoenix Wright, Dante, Vergil, Monster Hunter, Captain Commando, Classic Mega Man
  • Capcom Newcomers: Akira Kazama, Donovan, Edward Falcon, Juri, Lady, Leon Kennedy, Lord Raptor, Nero, Nina, Princess Devilotte, Rashid
  • Marvel Newcomers: Blade, Asura, Daredevil, Green Goblin, Loki, Magik, Kamala Khan, Mystique, Nightcrawler, Scarlet Witch, SQUIRREL GIRL, Star Lord, The Thing
  • Honorable Mention: Samonosuke Akechi
  • Legacy/Echo Characters: Ken (for Ryu), Miles Morales (Spider Man), War Machine (Iron Man), Lilith (Morrigan), Claire Redfield (Leon Kennedy), Gwenpool (Deadpool), Apollo Justice (Phoenix Wright), Abomination (Hulk)

Free Story Chapter 2 + DLC Pack 1 (Bring on the Bad Guys) Capcom: Bass, Urien, B B Hood, Mr. X Legacy Character: Bass Exe (Bass) Marvel: Bullseye, Hela, Juggurant, Venom Legacy Character: Carnage (Venom)

Free Story Chapter 3 + DLC Pack 2 (Hero’s Return): Eight heroes from past games returning Capcom: Chun Li, Jin Saotome, Ruby Heart, Viewtiful Joe Legacy Character: Silvia (Joe), Wickin (Scarlet Witch) Marvel: Hawkeye, Doctor Strange, Cable, Thor Legacy Character: Kate Bishop (Hawkeye), Proto Man (Mega Man)

Story Chapter 1: Loki, pissed he keeps losing, finds another universe, the Power Stones, that reminds them of the Power Gems, but are weaker than the Infinity Gems, dissects them, and learns that the PS reality is part of several realities all linked together by invisible threads, deciding to connect all the realities to complete the power of the Stones with his own magic and the stones’ connection to bind the threats together and merge all the Capcom realities into one, possessing the power Loki wants. Loki then decides to take on the Avengers, but brings their entire reality to make the stones more powerful and screw with them now that they’re in this new reality. Marvel and Capcom heroes slowly meet up, fight, learn what’s going on and try to stop Loki, only for characters such as Strange and Thor to disappear since Loki wants to take them off the board first.

Meanwhile Wesker gets all the villains to unite, promising all the villains their own reality once they find Loki and stop him.

The Next Story Chapter would be free update, people can play as them in the story mode. They can be free in the training room for two weeks so that people can choose if they want to fully buy the character after some lab time.

Chapter 2 would have more villains and other heroes disappearing too and all is lost moment with the DLC Pack 1 characters being villains. Chapter 3 would start with all the heroes coming back, including Thor and Chun Li helping lead the pack and the DLC being Heroes Returning from older games.

For one more idea, Capcom would announce six ? characters, but on the day before launch, Capcom announces people would decide who will be the next 6 characters in the game. A website with a poll with 100 Marvel and Capcom characters, and everyone can vote up to 5 choices they want, the votes would be tallied, and that’d be the next batch of DLC.

The Boss Battles:

  • Power Stone Loki
  • Power Stone Wesker
  • Nergigante
  • Doctor Doom+Bison & Gills Powers
  • Necalli absorbed all the fighters
  • Surter Pyron Fusion
  • Abyss
  • Yami
  • Shuma-Gorath (sized up like in the comics)
  • Gamma Powered Umbrella Monster
  • Cyber Akuma

He joked about a third wave of DLC called Fullmetal Madness, but then realized he went way too far in the video:

  • Sigma, Harp Note, Seth, and a gold golem that reminds me of the Dogu Shakkoumon from Digimon Adventure 02 (that I think is Huitzil/Phobos from Darkstalkers)
  • Ultron, Vision, I think Silver Sable, Sentinel

As for the stages, take the idea from MVCI fusing worlds, MVC 3’s hype, and the stage transitions from Playstation All Stars Battle Royale with stage act breaks, which can get turned off as an option ala Stage Hazards.

  • Abel City: Then Ultron attacks with its drones, and Mega Man X & Vision destroy the Ultron drones
  • Asgard: Rainbow bridge, Orochi and Amaterasu battle in the background
  • Astera: then Fin Fang Foom attacks and the Hunters try to fight back.
  • Avengers Tower: Marvel heroes have a drink, leave on Quinjets, and Capcom heroes come in.
  • Baker Ranch: Baker family in the background, then Morbius/Man Thing, other monsters scare the Bakers out,a nd Fiona from Hunting Grounds came out, Chris Reidfield comes out to fight, only for the Marvel monsters to invite him in to eat.
  • Baxter Building: Karma Fortress from Asura’s Wrath would break open in the sky.
  • Courtroom: Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth having a trial. Jugguernat’s the defendant, breaks free and rampages, but then She Hulk reveals herself as Nick’s new partner and throws Juggs through the wall. If Phoenix is playable, Apollo would take his place, then be replaced by Mina Fey.
  • Devil May Cry HQ: Elsa Bloodstone arrives to hang out with Trish and Lady (if she’s not playable) and blows away demons coming from the ground.
  • Latverian Throne Room: Doombots and Servbots. Vega, Balrog and M. Bison break in to sit on the the throne.
  • Metro City: Jugo, Poison, Rolento show up. Spider Man villains would join them, only for a brick wall to break on and being chased by Guy, Haggar, and Cody. Then the Heroes for Hire barring Daredevil stop them, and the cops would arrest them.
  • Sanctum Sanctorum: Occupied by Wong and then Tessa, Rose, Menat mess things up. When the battle ends, Strange returns asking what on earth happened?
  • Wakanda: Palicodes, Felicia, Yellow Iris from Battle Circuit, Katt and Ray chase the former while Shuri makes friends with the Palicodes. At the KO screen, Black Panther would pick one up and intimidate them.
  • World Tournament: Iron Fist vs Chun Li and Shang Chi vs Fei Long in the other one.
  • Xavier Mansion: Different X-Men students outside are playing, then a bus of Rival Schools students come out.

Shops with different cameos running the shops, with in game currency that’s possible to still get enough content with but in his words, “it can be done well, just don’t be sleazy about it.”

  • Art Shop: Ciel (Mega Man Zero), Maria Hill
  • Titles, Icons, Customizes for Online Play: Merchant from RE:4, Forge.
  • Actions: Intros, Victory Animations, Taunts: Johnny and the Sea Rabbits from Zack and Wikiy, Howard the Duck
  • Costumes and Colors: Nico (DMC 5), Mary Jane

When the game comes out. They get two free costumes in game that fit the character, but the DLC would still have crossover costumes even worth more.

There’s a lot more into it: other modes, how each character in the base roster would work, so check out the videos, but damn, it’s a roster with a lot of love and cool ideas.

Also, Max really needs a crossover he can love everything about. What's his three favorite fighting games overall?

I wanted to post this 2 days ago, but I never really had the time until now.

2 days ago UMVC 3 officially became a decade-old game.

It's a surreal experience as I remember that feeling for MVC 2 back then and another cruel irony to it, wonder if there would ever be another MVC sequel. It's funny how it seems how many people have forgotten about it but I still very much remember how controversial the idea of having an Ultimate come out for MVC 3 was. I even remember how many people had a problem with UMVC 3 roster. I suppose it's not all that surprising that UMVC 3 is fondly remembered after all these years.

It's been a while since I've played the game, but whenever I do, I'm always shocked that UMVC 3 has the same problem I have with Infinite. You just have a VS mode & that's about it. That tends to be enough for most, but I remember how it felt like the game was so low budget compared to SF 4. Although I didn't realize SF 4 was just a shockingly high-budget game in general. I wonder how many people remember the Heroes & Herald mode? Over the top abilities like having 2 X-Factors, the ability to cancel special into another special, air dashes, parries, etc. And for whatever reasons, this was only available online & off-line forces you against CPU. The only way you can play another guy was in Practice Mode.

Despite this, I still remember UMVC 3 pretty fondly. The hours spent labbing always felt worth it. Whether it was finding out more team synergy or finding better hit confirms. Too bad I still can't Tri-Dash even if my life depends on it. The game also never felt that hard either. Unless they were characters like Doom or Ammy, I could BNB with anyone. The game still feels more accessible than any fighting game I've played. But I still have a love-hate relationship with the game. Fuck Doom & your hidden missiles, Fuck Magneto, Fuck Easy Mode Vergil, Fuck Lightning Loop Zero, Fuck Good Hit-Confirm Spencer, Fuck Good Hit-Confirm Nova, Fuck Phoenix, Fuck Akuma, Fuck Sentinel, Fuck Online Hulk, Fuck Dormmamu, & especially Fuck you, Logan, you god damn piece of shit 1 brain cell easy BNB dickwad. I suppose I should bring up Dante too & maybe I'm just being biased, but it always felt like Dante was this ideal character what a top-tier character should be. High execution moves with great rewards. Not that really stops everyone & their mothers from picking him as their mains & Doom still follow that mindset. To a certain degree.

It's funny to think UMVC 3 roster was ever considered controversial. So many accusations on the Marvel side being shameless MCU marketing. Still waiting on that She-Hulk tv show. Stupidity aside, UMVC 3 just had a great roster in general. Certainly, there were more than a few characters missing but that was just inevitable. And the roster was still damn big, with Ultimate having 50 characters in the game. Even excluding the Fox characters, I still can't believe Infinite didn't build up from that.

I call this a low-budget game, but honestly, the presentation is still pretty damn great & it still holds up even after a decade as far I'm concerned. I suppose some people will think it's kinda iffy, but just hearing the EMH's cast & one of the last times Josh Keaton reprising his role Spider-Man is still pretty special. I still Michael T Weiss & Richard-Grieco are the best voices for both Dormammu & Ghost Rider. Not to mention this game was the debut of JYB as Zero & both Wesker & Vergil were ever more memeable thanks to UMVC 3.

I guess a lot of my problem with people's love with UMVC 3 now is that people didn't really show this back in the day. It felt like a lot of the support came after Infinite. Well, that's not entirely true since the game is still very much active long after Capcom was done with it.

What really makes this game special in this day & age was its lack of official support. The game never really got a patch after UMVC 3, other than removing Magneto's House of M alt. There were so many characters that desperately needed buffs, especially Hsien-Ko & Thor.

Well that's basically my rant about UMVC 3 turning a decade old. It's depressing to know if Infinite just came out a little later, maybe things would've been different. Both Capcom & Marvel improved a lot since then but I'm still incredibly reluctant to see another MVC. To be blunt, even back in UMVC 3, neither Capcom or Marvel really seems to understand how special the series really is.

Crossposting from the fighting game thread, I made a moveset for what if Asura from Asura's Wrath was in this game:

     Asura
HP: 1,100,000

He is in Vajra Asura by default. He has a Wrath meter that increases as he takes and deals damage. After a few seconds of not taking or dealing damage, the Wrath meter slowly starts decreasing over time. When a teammate is KO'd, the Wrath meter gets a big increase. If Wrath reaches 100%, he automatically goes into Berserker Asura, a cinematic attack.

  • Berserker Asura has golden lava skin and four giant lava arms. He creates a giant full-screen pillar of energy that launches the opponent into the air, then he shoots them with a laser beam and a ball of energy that creates a colossal explosion. Does 600,000 damage.
  • After, Asura reverts to Wrath Asura. He turns black and loses the giant energy arms. Wrath constantly drains over time and when he takes damage. He reverts back to Vajra Asura when Wrath hits 0%.

5L: He does a hook punch forward.

2L: He jumps and slaps the ground with his other hand, making a small shockwave. Low.

5M: He sweeps his other arm forward with a hook punch and he spins after.

2M: He does three downward hook punches forward, alternating arms. Triple Low.

5H: He jumps and does a double hammer-fist smash down.

2H: He steps forward and does a big overhand hook punch that hits the ground and makes a shockwave. Low.

5S: Dash Attack. A big uppercut launcher with a red aura.

j.5L: He does a downward hook punch.

j.5M: He does a hook punch straight up.

j.5H: He does a double axe-hand smash down.

j.5S: Dive Attack. A diving punch downward with a red aura.

236X (Air OK): Lock-On Mode. A crosshair appears and follows where Asura moves. He shoots projectiles at the crosshair. You can transition from 236L to 236M or 236H without exiting Lock-On Mode.

  • L: Rapid-Fire. He rapid-fire shoots blasts at the crosshair. Hold L to keep firing.
  • M: He shoots a shotgun burst of blasts at the crosshair in a wide spread. Hold M to not fire until you let go.
  • H: When the crosshair passes over the opponent's body, it creates targets on up to 6 spots (their torso, each limb, and head), and Asura shoots one big homing blast at each target. Hold H to not fire until you let go.

236S: Six-Armed Vajra Asura. Unlocks when Wrath is at or above 33%. Asura flexes and grows two more arms out of his back. His damage increases and his normals hit 3 times more. Also unlocks a new command normal.

  • 6H: A barrage of punches forward with all six arms, ending with a simultaneous sextuple punch.

623X (Air OK): Heavy Attack. It's an invincible reversal and he can chain it into a combo. To compensate, he overheats afterward, his arms turn black and he can't use this move again for a certain amount of time.

  • L: He spins around and creates a shockwave ring around his body. It has decent range in front of and behind him.
  • M: He does a big, powerful uppercut with a big shockwave released from his fist.
  • H: He spins around and creates a bigger shockwave ring.

623S (Air OK): Unlimited Mode. He splays his body out, creating a shockwave that can knock opponents away and uses up 10% of the Wrath meter to make the lines on his body glow temporarily. While in this state, he can use 623X an unlimited number of times without overheating.

214X: A dodge-roll or counter.

  • L: A dodge-roll forward.
  • M: A dodge-roll backward.
  • H: A counter. If the opponent attacks him with a physical attack, he counters physically. If the opponent attacks him with a projectile, he counters by catching and throwing their projectile back.

236XX Level 1: Mantra Asura. Unlocks when Wrath is at or above 66%. Asura powers up and countless arms combine into two giant arms. His damage increases greatly and he gains rockets on his elbows, giving him another airdash. Unlocks a new command normal. He also no longer transforms into Berserker Asura when Wrath hits 100%.

  • j.6H: He activates the rockets on his elbows and does a horizontal spinning superman punch flying forward.

623XX Level 1: Special Attack. He triggers a cinematic attack. Each transformation has a different one.

  • Vajra Asura. He rears back and does a really big overhand hook punch forward. Does 200,000 damage.
  • Six-Armed Vajra Asura. He does a quad punch upward with his top four arms, then does a big double punch with his regular arms that shoots beams upward. Does 250,000 damage.
  • Wrath Asura. He ignites the spots on his back where his lava arms used to be to create rockets and jets up into the air and then down to smash the ground. Does 275,000 damage.
  • Mantra Asura. He activates one of his elbow rockets and spins around for a massive spinning hook punch. Does 300,000 damage.
  • Six-Armed Mantra Asura. He backflips into the air, creates his halo, shoots a wide spread of blasts from it, then shoots a ring of blasts that converge on the opponent as Asura lands and flexes with his back to them as the blasts explode. Does 350,000 damage.

214XX Level 3: Burst. He runs forward and triggers a QTE cutscene. Each transformation has a different one. Hitting or failing the QTEs only increases or decreases the damage of the Super.

  • Vajra Asura. Does 350,000-450,000 damage.
  • Six-Armed Vajra Asura. Does 450,000-550,000 damage.
  • Wrath Asura. Does 500,000-600,000 damage.
  • Mantra Asura. Does 550,000-650,000 damage.
  • Six-Armed Mantra Asura. Does 650,000-750,000 damage.

j.214XX Level 3: Asura, The Destructor. Unlocks when Wrath is at 100% while in Mantra Asura. Asura flies up into space and grows much larger than the Earth with six giant arms. He shoots six homing blasts at the opponent, launching them up into space, and then hits them back to Earth with a gargantuan triple punch. Does 850,000 damage.

  • After, Asura reverts to Six-Armed Mantra Asura. His damage increases immensely, his normals hit 3 times more, and he has rockets on his elbows for an extra airdash. Also unlocks two command normals.
    • 6H: A barrage of punches forward with all six arms, ending with a simultaneous sextuple punch.
    • j.6H: He activates the rockets on his elbows and does a horizontal spinning superman punch flying forward.

After winning a battle by beating Shuma-Gorath or Dormammu, he says "My Wrath... is finally... gone."

I don't know why, but I suddenly couldn't stop thinking of a roster for a new Mv C. 60 characters. Tried to keep a balance between characters with different archetypes and such while also including fan-favorites.

  • Marvel Veterans: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Wolverine, Storm, Magneto, Deadpool, Dr. Doom, Spider-Man, Venom, Rocket Raccoon, Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange, Dormammu, Black Panther, Thanos

  • Capcom Veterans: Ryu, Chun-Li, Akuma, Zero, Chris, Wesker, Nemesis, Dante, Vergil, Arthur, Firebrand, Haggar, Morrigan, Jedah, Strider, Amaterasu, Phoenix Wright, Captain Commando, Frank West

  • Marvel Newcomers: Ms. Marvel, Miles Morales, Human Torch, Scarlet Witch, Chang-Chi, Groot, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Ant-Man, Gorr, America Chavez, Blade

  • Capcom Newcomers: Mega Man (Classic. Has a new moveset, so I'm counting him as new), Luke (or someone else from SF 6), Dr. Wily (In Wily Capsule), Leon Kennedy, Nero, Palico, Asura, Nina (Breath of Fire), Akira Kazama, Leo (Red Earth), Edward Falcon

  • Sub-Bosses: Thanos with Satsui no Hado, Cyber-Akuma

  • Bosses: Arishem the Judge, Chakravartin (Asura’s Wrath)

Chakravartin being the capcom boss is perfect.

Maybe a unique version that takes the power of the heart of the universe as a true final boss.

Call me a blatant fanboy but I really want a new Mv C game to have another Darkstalkers character that hasn't shown up in a crossover yet. Lord Raptor, Q. Bee, or Jon Talbain would fit the series like a glove in all honesty.

Q Bee is a little much, but Talbain, Lord Raptor, Donovan, Pyron, Huitzil. You almost can't go wrong with any of the cast.

For charity's sake, I'm thinking about the move where Q Bee jabs you, injects a larva into your body and is reborn out of you as her original body dies. Might be a bit much in 3D.

I was mostly thinking gameplay wise rather than considering the animations if I'm being perfectly honest, lol. Bee's whole homing air dash thing makes me feel like she'd be an instant top tier considering how important mobility and triangle jumping in particular are in this series.
