Spider-Man (P.P.)
Spider-Man (M.M.)
If a new Vs. game were happening, no matter what it was, dudes from the FGC would be talking it up wouldn't they?
We've had so many false alarms I'm not sure people care any more.
Honestly, for Spider-Man characters: I wouldn't mind seeing 4 of them, any combo of: Spider Man, Miles Morales, Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Carnage, or another Spider characters.
- Or if you can only have Peter Spidey, make the other Spider Man alt costumes & legacy characters ala Injustice 2 with voice acting and make a Level 3 where Spider Man just gets all of the Spider Verse (enough of them to do like a team Ultimate Web Swing or Maximum Spider Verse Barrage) or something.
But you'd get, like, Maximillian Dood or that one guy who worked on Infinite to be all "yo something's coming up wink wink" instead of the silence.
Plus it's only been two years since Infinite released and, realistically, only about a year and a half since any kind of new fighter could enter production.
How long was production for MVC 3? At least for vanilla?
According to Wikipedia development started in 2008 when Capcom reacquired the Marvel license, and the game released February 2011, so over two years of development.
In addition to the X-Men characters returning, I really want to see Shadowcat with Lockheed as a newcomer.
I for one think that the story wasn't bad, only badly implemented. You can see some brilliant choices like Ultron/Sigma fusion, Ryu mentoring Bruce/Hulk to control his anger, mirroring his issues to the hadou somethinsomething (granted, they screwed up not focusing on it), Valkanda who could be an interesing setring to explore, A.I.M.brella using symbiotes for their experiments.
But as it was mentioned before, the appeal of any crossover is the interactions between characters, which was lackluster, cringy and weirdly enough was less that in U Mv C 3 regarding the intros an outros of the battles.
The ideal thing to do was make the first story mode small, focusing only in the two worlds colliding, wich as said before, a pragmatic adaptation of Secret Wars would work as background. The one used in Infinity could work better in a sequel where the characters have already accepted their two worlds are one now.
EDIT: Wow, didn't expect to revive this thread like thìs. Shows you how much love there's for this game.

Well with the 30 characters in the base roster we got, which character interactions would you have preferred seeing?
I think the biggest problem is that when MVC 3 came out Marvel was only starting to make movies with only Iron Man and Incredible Hulk out at the time, and Marvel respected the legacy of the Vs. series with picks like Sentinel and Shuma-Gorath; characters they don't care about, but mean something to the series. They let Capcom do their own thing with wacky and endearing character interactions and endings, like Ryu becoming the next Iron Fist or Tron Bonne making Sentinel into Servbot #42.
Flash forward to 2017 and Marvel has now become the most popular thing on Earth. Who cares about crossing over with some dinky game company now? They licensed out their characters, made sure everything was on brand, and absolutely nothing interesting happened.
This is a 99.9% dumb question, but with Play Station having a State of Play event (their answer to Nintendo Directs) around the corner, think Capcom will announce a proper Marvel vs. Capcom 4 like how they announced Infinite at PSX three years ago?
That's what I've been saying.
Anyways, I seriously doubt that they're going to announce MVC 4. After refreshing my memories about the development for Infinite, I really fail to see why Capcom wants to collaborate with Marvel ever again, despite releasing an arcade cabinet (or whatever the hell that thing is) of MSH. Maybe another VS game but not with Marvel.
If that were the case than more likely that game will a Teppen port.
Pretty much answer your question there.
Even if it's not MVC 4 I'm fairly confident that if a VS game got announce the FGC would be talking about it. Especially if it's CVS 3.
I would like to see more Spider-Man reps in general. Although in Mile's case I would be slightly annoy if he got over Doc Ock & Norman.
Completely agree with this.
I wouldn't say it's love as so much it's wish thinking for most part. Especially what they could've done better with Infinite.

They were saying if there were rumblings of one more people would at least be talking about it.
I don't think one's coming out any time soon, either, personally, or that Marvel will trust Capcom with the license again before letting someone else develop it.
Pretty much this. Ed Boon kind of hint-hinted at Nether Realm picking up on and developing a Marvel fighting game, and considering how well Mortal Kombat and Injustice do, and how in line their games are with the grittier, more down-to-earth tone the MCU tends to favor, I think they're a lot more likely to work on the next Marvel fighter than Capcom is.

The stars just aren't aligned for MVC anymore. Marvel's too big.
I for one would've loved more specific special for certain teams like the one for Cap/Bucky.
Hell, it would be interesting is they include 2 bars specials for all possible team ups. For example Cap deflecting Ironman beams with his shield, or the Thor/Cap combo:
With enough imagination they could make at least one for each possible pair.

Honestly, after Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 was announced and released as a Switch exclusive (even being published by Nintendo themselves), part of me thinks that if Marvel Vs. Capcom 4 is happening, it'll be announced in a Nintendo Direct (albeit not as an exclusive like MUA3).
Are we watching the same movies?
This song needs more love.I could lowkey see Nintendo try to get a hardcore fighter on the Switch, be it Marvel 4 or just Capcom All-Stars.
Yeah are we talking the same MCU here?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well, it's down to earth in that Comic Book Movie way, but now that we've gotten time travel and mass resurrections I think the distinction is starting to get blurred.
The DCEU is still kinda sticking to that mid-00s style of CBM though.
The shit-faced madness of Guardians & Ragnarok kinda happened before all that though.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Except it's not a problem, there have been several games where they are both Spider-Man.
So that seems to be a non existent problem.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Compared to Capcom's take on fighting games? Yeah, it is a little more down to earth.
Infinite got rid of all the video game-y character themes, the comic book-esque shaders, and tried to tell a mostly serious story in its story mode, because the MCU takes itself more seriously than Capcom takes its fighting games.
Okay but following the MCU and not taking itself that seriously aren't mutually exclusive. Ultimate Alliance 3 (which will probably be the blueprint for Marvel games from now on) adheres to MCU themes and plots while also going absolutely nuts with it. Heck it even steals a lot of stuff from MvC.
Infinite wasn't bad because it followed the MCU and going in the opposite direction from them with Netherrealm is a terrible idea.

This song needs more love.
Or just call him Miles Morales. It’s the name the audience knows him best by anyway.
