Emotionally Attuned

Crash follows walking slowing hands behind his head with a smile on his face.

... Lucky overheard Gabriel and Crash punning up a storm. Looks like he'll have competition. "Hey!" He shouted over to them. "You know, all those cat puns you're making are claws for concern. If you're not careful, you may cause some catlateral damage. Just remember to paws every once in a while."

Anyway, class. Class class class! Lucky began following closely behind Crash before turning to Lola. "You just gonna sit there? Class time!"

Masumi watched the bespectacled boy hurry off, no less bemused than when he'd first butted in. It was, perhaps, a nice reminder that not all of the students seem to have been affected by this curious lethargy.

Turning back to her curly-haired companion, she shrugged in answer to his question- more to herself than him, since he was still focused on the camera. "Sociological, ecological, chronological, I'm not sure. I also can't say for sure that it's limited to the school grounds either..." That's where her focus had been for the past few days, but her gut told her that she'd find something if she were to compare her photos of other locations around town too.

It was around that time that her mind interjected with another, somewhat related thought; the last time she'd shared information like this without identifying herself, the student had proclaimed her a nut job and scurried off. While she couldn't be sure that her identity would help, it didn't have much chance of hindering either. "Masumi, by the way. Masumi Ienari, 11th grade."

Gabriel turned to the other person. "Who are you, exactly?" Crap, can't think of a good pun right now. As he continued to walk, he started to notice something odd. "Hey...guys, anyone notice anything weird?" People were acting.....strange. He had noticed it at home, among some of his family, but here, it seemed to be stronger. He found it....very odd.

Then he realised something. "Where's Gracie?"

"I'm Luke Motif, but you can call me Lucky! I-" Lucky looked around. "Gracie?" No puns there. If he uses too many, he may just become the 'one who makes puns' and nothing else. "I don't know anyone named Gracie... Why, is she important to you?"

"Uh....slightly?" Gabriel said, rather nervously. He had a crush on Gracie since last year. He wasn't sure what had drawn him to her. Was it her appearance, the haunting look in her eyes? He didn't know. He just had a crush on her. He had only learned her name by speaking to other people. "I mean, as a friend. Nothing else. Okay?"

"Oh yeah Gracie we had Algebra last year, she was pretty cool plus she was smart to so you know there's that."

Then he notices the pause in Gaberial's words "Awww dude you like her don't you?"

"What? No! No....yeah," Gabriel said, blushing heavily. "Don't tell her at all okay?" He had a pleading look in his eyes as he said it.

"Don't worry dude I would never your secret is safe with me." He says telling the honest truth.

Lucky chuckled a bit. Young love was nice and all, but he never bothered with it. Not like it'll last for very long. Still, it's nice to see people happy! "Maybe it's safe with him, but is it safe with me?" Then he paused for a bit, letting the possibility of him ratting Gabe out really sink in...

"Yep! I hereby vow I won't tell a soul until you're ready, Mr... Wait, I never learned your name. Only fair, since I introduced myself to you!"

"Nice to meet you, Masumi," Cassander said, looking up from the camera. "I'm Cassander. Cassander Sillhouse. You can call me Silly." He paused for a second, then grins a bit ruefully. "Or not. It's a... silly nickname. Cass works too."

He proffered the camera to her, done looking at the pictures. "So, you're thinking like a citywide lazy pandemic?" He pauses for a second. Last year he had had a few health classes. "Like a virus that affects the production of chemicals in our brain? Because that would be cool. Or not, if it's real," he adds. He always tried to look at things logically if he could help it. He glanced at his watch for a second; he had forgotten when classes started. He had a paper somewhere on his person detailing his schedule, too. He just couldn't be bothered to check at the time.

"Gabriel," he told Lucky. He gave a look of relief that he wouldn't tell about his crush on Gracia.

Lola was staring off into the distance, thinking about what she had heard. She wasn't quite paying attention to her surroundings, because thoughts of fairies danced around in her head. Maybe she should have kept the salt shaker at home. Wait...

Plenty of people seem to like fairies. So why don't..

"A club! A club for all things fantastic!" she blurted out. "I know what I'm going to do this year!"

A club was probably the best idea she had in a long time. She could make friends, get help in finding fairies, and maybe even find some other paranormal creatures along the way!

"What kind of club?" He asks Lola smiling at her energy.

"Well, it's nice to me- GYAH!" The next thing he heard was Lola screaming about starting a club. Admittedly, this caught him off-guard. "Eh, finally returned to the land of the living, yeah? You came back in a very... loud way. But at least you know what you're gonna do! I guess you could say your sudden energy is... Supernatural." once again, Lucky's face brightened up extraordinarily at that pun.

Gabriel groaned, but not in annoyance. He was beginning to enjoy the puns. "A club does sound nice....what's your name?" He asked the girl who had suggested the idea. He had picked it up, and just as quickly forgotten it.

Masumi's expression shifted into something that was almost humoured. "Cass it is." Obviously she wanted to ask about the origin of his nickname (and his real name, for that matter- his birthplace, why his parents picked it, did he like it) but she forced it down again and kept her concentration on their current talk.

"That'd be a likely scientific explanation, yes." Masumi took back her camera and tucked it away in a zipped pocket of her jacket. "I first considered a natural gas leak, but other symptoms were inconsistent enough for me to rule that out. A pathogen, of which a select few of us are naturally immune to, would make sense. The obvious question then being the 'how' and 'why'..."

She was invested in her words, but not enough to miss Cassander glancing at his watch. "Ah, I'm sorry. I don't want to make you late for class." She wasn't worried about her own tardiness, but she was trying to be more considerate these days.

"Lola meet Gaberial, Gaberial meet Lola." Crash looks at Lola with a sorta of big brotherly founders of her.

"Hi Gabriel! Yeah, I said I knew what I'm doing this year. I'm going to start a club! A fantasy club! For fantasy things!"

Lola brightened at the idea. She was going to make so many friends, and they could go butterfly catching together, and fairy-watching together, and writing together....

Gabriel shrugged. "Um...okay. Could I join? I do love some fantasy. Heck, I've even been writing a story lately, and would lo-." As Gabe continued to walk, he bumped into someone. He was about to apologise when the person growled at him threateningly. Gabriel backed up, and let the guy past. "Um....okay, is it just me, or did that guy seem more aggressive than usual?"

"Maybe, but what can you do? People are weird, it's not like you can stop them from being weird! You can't worry about anything you can't help, otherwise you'll be a worried wreck all the time!" Lucky stated, sticking his hands in his pockets. "Although I do admit people are acting off today... Probably nothing though!"

Gabriel wasn't so sure. "I don't know....that guy back there? I know about him. Bit of a bully. But from what I've heard, he doesn't growl at people. Ever," Gabriel shrugged his shoulders. "We should be getting to class now. Catch you all later!"

Noah snapped back to reality. Tunnel vision, indeed; he had gotten so engrossed in his thoughts that he had forgotten to pay attention to what was going on around him. Oh well, hopefully he had heard enough anyway.

Looking around, the entire scene had shifted. Having no idea how much time had passed, Noah walked into the school proper, and head towards class hoping he hadn't daydreamed himself into tardiness (not that he would admit he had anyway).

Cassander shook his head, this time less twitch but still without a specific meaning. "Don't know where first period is anyway. Besides-" he gestured to the people around them "-if what you say is true, I bet at least a few people will be late, not to mention it's first day. Teachers don't care much about first day tardies."

Of course, he had an ulterior motive; He hadn't seen Anton. He'd known him to skip a few days, but almost never on purpose or without a good reason, not to mention he hadn't texted Cass. It was... concerning.

"So," he said, settling back again, "You said a few could immune. You've been looking at people. Seen anybody else? I'm guessing you think you are one."

"Count us in on that club Lola." He says with a grin before the Crashster looks at the angry people "Not that you mention I don't see much smiles. Hmmmm that's really weird."
