Normally I don't into survival games like this, but anything published by Adult Swim is pure gold so I think I will give it a try.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.I only learned about this two seconds ago but boy, does it look promising.
March 28th! Woo! That's a lot sooner than I expected. Wow, This spring sure has a lot of awesome stuff. Breath of the Wild, Rain World, Yooka-Laylee, and Sonic Mania... It's too much!
It isn't doing too well critically at the moment, sadly, I haven't read everything but a number of Fake Difficulty tropes seems to be the most common complaint.
I just started playing the tutorial level of Rain World. Controls are awkward and fiddly, but manageable if you know which button does what in what context.
"I'll show you all of Paris, I'll take you on a tour, we'll go up and up and up so high they'll long for an encore!"Teaser for the new DLC
The size of the dlc been compared to a sequel with "ten new regions for the game, made up of thousands of new maps and environments. It also includes five new characters with 'unique abilities, skill sets, gameplay style, and stories', as well as a passive game mode that lets you safely explore the game's environments and creature ecosystems. There'll also be a new challenge mode, for those who've mastered Rain World's difficulty."
Working on cleaning up List of Shows That Need Summary
Rain World is an upcoming indie survival platformer created by Videocult and published by Adult Swim Games, set to release for PS 4 and Steam in 2017. Or as the official website aptly puts it:
Bone-crushingly intense rains pound the surface, making life as we know it almost impossible. The creatures in this world hibernate most of the time, but in the few brief dry periods they go out in search of food.
You are a nomadic slugcat, both predator and prey in this land. You must hunt enough food to survive another cycle of hibernation. Other — bigger — creatures have the same plan.
The project has an extensive devlog on the Tigsource forums, where it proved to be a big hit. They later put the game up on Kickstarter, where it was very quickly funded. The game was scheduled for earlier this year, but the devs couldn't complete it in time to make their release window, so it was pushed back to next year.
They've occasionally been putting videos up on their YouTube channel as well, and this one shows off the gameplay nicely:
Has anyone else here heard of this game? I've been pretty excited for it since I found out about it earlier this year, but it seems most people outside of Tigsource haven't heard of it. Since there was no thread here about the game I figured I'd make one.
