Did they do something about the boring characters?

[up]I’m trying to think of really good human characters in Godzilla films that are there for a decent amount of time besides Captain Gordon and drawing a blank.

Holy cow, the second movie was like way better than the first. The characters felt stronger, it was better paced, the emotional conflict was amazing and it even did a good job setting up the final film.

Okay finally saw both movies.

First one..... eh more or less. Like it was adequate but the whole planet full of monsters setting is kinda wasted since they don’t really encounter much before just going straight to fight little g with most of the cast being very underdeveloped or just plain unmemorable. Plus Haruo is just a very unlikable lead, like I get his reasons but it doesn’t justify being a suicidal prick, live to fight another day as they say. Man Polygon’s animation, there humans just don’t look right.

Second one, yeah more of an improvement overall, at least a good deal of stuff happened, Haruo is more bearable, & I honestly think the animations improved...... well at least for the machines at the very least. Though I’m a bit disappointed that the big grand climactic plan is essentially the same as the first only bigger I guess. Sure it makes sense but it’s not really very fun honestly.
