From what I remember about that sort of defenses, these flak cannons are going to tear me apart the instant I get in range. Do you think you could close in and take them down so I can come in and take care of the other base defenses?

Baru: "Though if I had to pick one, I guess it'd be the Bombs of C-"

~sees Asuna enter~

"Oh, hey there!"

Asuna: Hello, Baru.

Baru: "Hey, how's it going? You here to buy some potions too?"

Asuna: Sure! What do you have?

Baru: "Well..."

~motions at the potion racks on the wall~

"...I got healing potions, antidotes, hangover cures, nightvision potions, uppers, downers, siders, all-arounders, psychostimulants, sensory deprivation potions..."

~this goes on for a bit~

"...a potion of waterbreathing, aaaaaand one bottle of lactose-free cattle milk. A Lthough maybe I should just ask you if you are looking for anything in particular."

Asuna: Hmmmm....stealth potions?

Baru: "Hmmmmmmmmmm..."

~she looks over the rack, then eventually reaches out and grabs a few small bottles and vials~

"...so, these here are an Octopus Camouflage Potion, a Potion of Perfect Silencing, like half a bottle of Gas Juice, and a Draught of Ant-Size. Would any of those work for what you have in mind?"

Asuna: The first two interest me, certainly.

Baru: "Well, here you go then."

~hands those two over and puts the other ones back into the rack~

VR Game

-And so the attack commences-

-Monomi's Schwalbe moves incredibly fast, fast enough that by the time the flak cannons have locked onto her she's already fired a salvo of rockets at several SAM turrets and blown them apart. That's three of them down; there's three more protecting the facility-

Oliver: [I can try!]

-Oliver ducks his weird-looking space fighter down towards the flak guns and starts lining up with one of the flak cannons-

-Meanwhile, enemy aircraft are beginning to take off, and you're picking up on enemy communications-

Enemy Aero 1: What do you mean, the picket fighters couldn't take care of them? All our intel indicates we're just facing off against a few novices, they should have been easy!

Enemy Aero 2: What could have... holy shit, I'm picking up Wendigo IFFs! The Tarotslayers! They're here!

Enemy Aero 1: By the Patriarch, we're all going to die!

Enemy Aero 3: Both of you shut it or I'll field execute you for cowardice! Just stall until our backup arrives!

Asuna: I'd be more than willing to pay for lessons.

Baru: "Oh, that's great to hear. I'd need to ask you to probably at least cover the costs for supplies and equipment anyway, depending on what exactly you want me to teach you."

Asuna: I suppose enough to be a competent potion-maker. It's kind of a skill thieves need to have.

Baru: "...oh okay great, that already narrows the material down a whole lot."

Asuna: Oh good.

Baru: "Yeah, potion brewing is pretty unproblematic compared to making bombs or mutagens since you don't really run into the whole "I might blow myself up or permanently turn into a writhing mass of tentacles if I make a mistake" issue." >_>
