I think someone really needs to remind the people behind these events that we are in the middle of a pandemic. Seriously, a timed research event requiring you to visit PokeStops?
And it seems like they had used maybe 5 players as NPC Trainers so you'd wind up fighting the same ones over and over. Good concepts but terrible execution.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.I have 2 Pokestops I can spin from home, and a third one I catch with slight drift. I can go on walks as long as I don't go with people I don't live with, and I have to wear a mask outside.
I still won't bother. I've had a complete Kanto Dex for over a year. Mega candies are inanely grindy.
Perhaps if an event had Heracross, or Torkoal, or any of the species that are annoying regional exclusives, I'd be more willing, but, meh.
I ain't gonna be able to complete the ditto event till tomorrow at the earliest I dont have anyone to trade with till then. Are the raids staying all week because I kinda want to do those when I get to that in the ditto research
Yes the raids and the Kanto timed tasks are one week long.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Pretty sure they're well aware of the pandemic. But there's money to be made, so, y'know.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI noticed how after every event happens, people always bitch about how they gotten no shinies from said event. I don't know why people expected Niantic to always boost shiny rates at every event when they never said it unless they actually say it.
Hunting for shinies always seem to be nothing but frustration over a Bragging Rights Reward and even in events where the shiny rate is boosted, is it really fun to have 20+ shinies of the same Pokemon that are likely to have shitty stats and can't be mass transferred? Maybe I'm the only one that sees it this way.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Shinies in Go feel a lot less worthwhile than shinies in main games (yes, I know you can transfer them). While them being more common does kinda make more sense given the mechanics of the game and how short a lot of events that boost the rate are, I feel like boosted-rate shinies are too common.
That said, if I ever find a shundo (perfect IV), then I may get excited.
I have so many damn shinies from community day events that it kinda makes me NOT want to catch any shinies purely because transferring them is a PITA.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.I ended up getting two shinies from the Kanto Tour event: a Bellsprout and a Pikachu.
Yeah, it was absolutely dumb that we have to walk to Pokestops for the Kanto Fest player trainers. I ends up ignoring that timed research altogether because of it.
Really, they can't make them replace Rocket on the balloons just for that one day?

Some people just want all the shinies. Which, to be fair, Pokemon as a whole pushes pretty hard. I find a lot of the shiny designs pretty bad, so while I won't turn down a shiny, I'm pretty much only actively hunting my faves (and even then, some of my faves have pretty bad palettes—I'm a big Pikachu fan, but its shiny palette just makes me sad). I just participated in the no-ticket version so I could get some exercise, and ended up with a shiny Taurus (which I think looks awful), and a shiny Charmander (which doesn't look great, but gets a pass because it's both a fave and evolves into the pretty good looking black Charizard).
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiPersonally, I'm just happy to acquire shinies as encounter them, whether it's the result of a boosted rate as part of an event or not. I still can't believe that I once acquired three Lotads, and Rhyhorn, and an Aerodactyl in the space of one week. I think I may have used up all of my luck with that.
Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805on the topic of shinies, during Kanto Fest I got shiny Meowth, Tangela, and Sandshrew, which all are new shinies for me, but I still couldn't get my initial target which are shiny Magmar and Weedle lol
why do Shadow pokemon not count on caught mons?
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Funnily enough, Alolan forms do count, at least for evolving.
I evolved my Alolan Grimer instead of regular Grimer, and the "evolve all Kanto Pokemon" research ticked the Muk anyway.
Ran into two shiny Skarmories in a row today.
What.
Why does this game not have international trading?
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Money. By making some Pokemon region exclusive, Niantic can sell those Pokemon to everyone via events.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Explains as much, you'd think people would complain about the lack of "GTS" though.
Also looking at their March events and wow, it's Kalos didn't happen!
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Oh people have complained. Most already know Niantic doesn't care, so there's no point in complaining about it any further.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. In my experience, Niantic has made trading such a pain that most people just don't engage in it. I've got 76 Lucky Friends, but most of us don't have the desire to sort this stuff out, even with the temporary 40km increase.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI'm lucky I'm in a Discord group that play the game in my area so we can do trades. You would think Niantic would have events that lets us trade globally for a day or even let people who are lucky friends trade at any distance one time, but what the fuck do I know? It's a pandemic! We're still supposed to go out and play according to Niantic!
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. Most of the Lucky Friends I mentioned are also in my area. It'd be easy enough for us to trade from home, but dealing with the shorter distance for so long has just made people not want to deal with it at all. While we do still have some people trading in the chats, they're in the minority.
Most of my trading is usually done with the friend who got me into this, when we're on vacation and just winding down in the hotel room. Buuuuut, he's off by the east coast of the US, while I live in the middle of Canada, so, uh, that's not happening again anytime soon.

Classic case of Niantic promising something big, then failing to deliver.
