Yeah, I just found that out. I figured there wasn’t any hurry to snapshot the ghost, and I’d do it after I got the other two tasks. So that’s a whole day I won’t get back. Silly me. Lesson learned: do the easy tasks first.

And I didn’t realize until now that the tasks are themed after Kanto cities, either.

Are shiny rates upped during the throwback weeks?

Ok, a ground type took ages but I popped an incense and eventually got one, and after that finished the Kanto research chain easily enough. And that Mewtwo also fulfilled my long-lasting "catch a legendary" research too. Though now I'm sitting on a trade task instead...

Very sure they didn't boost the shiny rate.

Anyway, Johto research still has "hatch an egg" task just like Kanto research....does Niantic even aware that task require people to walk out of their home?

Unless you are at risk, you can still walk around your block to hatch the egg. Or you can just shake your phone to trick the game to thinking that you were walking.

Shiny rates generally don't get boosted unless they're doing release events for new shinies or promotions for stuff like Go Fest.

Their detection is supposedly improved so that eggs can hatch just by walking around the house. That's still a lot of distance, though. The best way around that is to make sure Adventure Sync is enabled, turn off or minimize Go, then shake the phone. This will register supposed steps that Adventure Sync will register next time Go is opened and syncs with the phone's fitness data.

EDIT: Oh, and I'll see about getting a screen shot, but my since customization is pretty limited, I think it'd be easy to imagine my avatar knowing that she's in the Veteran's Coat and the Indiana Jones hat.

Ugh, I put a 10km egg in before knowing there was another egg hatching task. I did go for an actual walk and everything but it wasn't enough. Welp, time to shake.

I hate how certain mons spawn a lot when I don't need them for the throwback quest, but then become explicitly rare when I need them.

Managed to catch a perfect Machop today. I've completed quite a few Johto Throwback quests. I thought the "Catch a Steel-type" would be troublesome, but then I remembered I have the Meltan box...

Steel took me some time, but eventually I got a Skarmory. Actually managed to finish the Johto line today, much better.

Also, I finally gave in and spent some real money (just a tenner, but nonetheless). I've actually been playing a good bit with the recent challenges, so that's fair enough I guess.

It's fine to spend every now and then.

Well, I have an elite charged TM... I'm never going to use this.

Unless it becomes much more common, it's one of those things I'm probably reserving for a 100% legendary/mythic. Which pretty much means I'm waiting to see if I ever get a 100% Mewtwo, since most of the rest of that category doesn't have a legacy-move issue (yet). I guess I could use it on my 100% Articuno, but Hurricane is so bad that I really don't think it'd even be helpful.

Catch an Ice-Type is the annoying one for me. Swinub refuse to spawn, until today my incense finally got Swinub spawned.

Yeah, definitely feels like the spawn types tend to be unaligned with whatever step one happens to be on. I guess at least with the Ice types, Ice Lures can be used to brute force it if it's getting too frustrating.

With Swinub spawning, I FINALLY was able to finish my last Genesect task where I had to catch 25 ice types.

I must have some damn good luck because today, Virizion popped. My first one ever and he was a shiny!

They finally brought back Raid Hour.

Good thing the amount of visible Gyms around my home is actually more than the amount of Gyms on the local mall lmao
