APAC has server issues on Community Day, and Niantic offers compensation (a two-hour extension in this case). In other news, the sky is blue.
Typhlosion isn’t that good anyway. I got a few with good stats for collectors value, including one of my four shinies. I like to keep one shiny at each evolution stage. The main attraction of the day was the stardust. I’m nearly back up to 2 million!
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.11 shinies, but nothing above decent. My potentially best is a level 1 with 64% as the ceiling. I wasn't interested in investing dust to find out, so while I did evolve it, I also evolved a couple other shinies that potentially had close enough IVs. I've got a level 27 58% that I can throw in gyms and maybe sorta have fight back now, so meh, whatever. Kinda salty I couldn't get a Ponyta, but the game spammed me with bad Cyndaquil all, "Well, it's a fire Pokemon too, so close enough, right?"
The non-shiny I evolved up was a level 28 91% with 13 Atk, so I guess if I ever want to dick around with a team of unique fire Pokemon, it can at least sorta pull its weight.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiWhy just extend hour? Why can't be a redo like what they did with Beldum?
I got four shiny Cynda, with 3 of them lousy (I have to double-check, but one is pretty close to 0%, as I recall). The fourth is basically built to be a bragging rights defender - around 80% with maxed defense.
One thing that was not fun was that we had really lousy weather locally - around 40 degrees Fahrenheit, with regular winds around 15 mph. Grouping with others on Community Day was less about the gregariousness and more about the ambient body heat of your fellow players. Oh, and I had awful luck at raiding - two Giratina raids and a Togetic raid, all escaped after the raid was completed. On the other hand, in terms of "skin of the teeth," I got my last shiny Cyndaquil at 4:59. Yup, the very last spawn I found.
I find it a little odd that Buizel is on the rare side. I remember them being all over the place in Sinnoh.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Funnily enough, I also ended up with four Shiny Quils. None of them were outstandingly great, but the one I chose to evolve all the way is a pretty beefy defender.
I seem to have the weirdest luck with community days; sometimes I find one Shiny after the other (this one and the Squirtle one), other times I walk for miles over two/three hours and only either find one (Larvitar) or none whatsoever (Eevee).
I also have yet to find a Buizel. It seems odd that they'd be so rare in Go since they aren't especially powerful Game Breaking mons to my knowledge. Nor are they Dragon-types for that matter.

"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."Is it particularly popular for looks/cuteness/coolness among the main games' community? Because that could be why. At least, when I look at Mawile, Alolan Raichu, Alolan Marowak and Absol and how they're pretty irrelevant compared to much easier to acquire Pokemon in Go, yet are generally raid exclusive, with Absol only making some very token appearances in field research tasks.

FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI suspect that Mawile and Absol are somewhat rare for something related to Mega Evolution, though that's pure speculation on my part, both that Megas will be incorporated into the game somehow and that there would need to be some way to control for them on top of that.
As for Buizel/Floatzel and popularity... eh, not really for either. As far as I can recall, nobody dislikes them... but they're generally seen as useful earlier 'mons that get overshadowed in the midgame (when their Aqua Jet niche gets taken over by Empoleon), and being cute but not the cutest choices. Generally, if you like otters a lot in real life (and even then, most of them moved on to Oshawott), you're really fond of them, but otherwise, they're kinda forgettable. It also doesn't help that, for the more competitive player, every single niche that you could think of for them (even breeding) is done better by other things.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Hmmm, if that's the case, then the only other thing I can think of is that someone high up on either the Niantic team or the Trainer Club really likes Buizel and convinced/mandated them to give it a raid to itself.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiFunnily enough, my first (and only) buizel was caught in the wild.
Well, insofar as downtown San Jose counts as "wild", per crazy Pokemon Go spawn logic.
Didn't you know that Walmart is the wildest place in the world?

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.but I like Buizel more than Oshawott :V
Sales king of Buizel I found one on my bus ride this morning. Is Shinx also a rare spawn? I love Shinx but can’t raid really
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.To my knowledge, Shinx is Raid exclusive. I think it can hatch out of 10k eggs, but I don't know for sure.
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."Yeah, Shinx can hatch from 10ks.
As an extra, if you get the 50km walking bonus for the week and have an open egg slot, you have a chance of getting a 10k egg. That egg is guaranteed to be either Shinx or Riolu. It's best to have 2 egg spaces open though; the 25km bonus can award a 5k egg that's always a Sinnoh starter or a Buneary.

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Cool!
Oh.
That's almost like trolling the player... Buneary...pfffft
I'm glad I ran into a Lopunny super early, as it meant I could prioritize other catches over Buneary.
I'm finding it funny that Deoxys has been around less than a month, and I've already gotten as many EX raid passes (two) as I did for when Mewtwo was the EX raid. I did my first today, and I managed to get him after going through half my attempts. WAY easier to catch than Mewtwo, in my opinion. Plus, mine was weather boosted and had maxed attack. Nice. As for its usefulness, of course... well, between its absurd stats and the rebalancing, I may give it a whirl to see if it'll function as a wall-breaker. Particularly as my usual go-to Blissey breaker Rhydon is getting a bit of a nerf, I may need to round out my team a little more (on the other hand, depending on how Aggron fares in the rebalance, maybe I won't).
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Oh, nice, did not know that. Makes me annoyed I couldn't clear out any space for this last prize drop, though. Makes it a bit tricky to juggle around friend level, though, since I want to keep upgrading, but opening gifts can take up slots with those annoying Alolan eggs (yeah, I know they can have babies in them now, but I'm not in a rush as far as those go). Might have to figure out a different routine for Sundays. Maybe I'll just open early and take my chances on having level increase overlap if I raid with them.
Rhyme: Is it a problem in that you can't ever get to gyms to raid or that there's no one ever around? Because if it's the latter issue, the good news is that Shinx is just a T1 raid, so you can grab something like a high-CP Turtwig, evolve it up and then the resulting Torterra should be able to solo the Shinx, making it not necessary to rely on other people.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshi- The CP rebalance is live.
- Starting immediately and continuing for 2 weeks, Pokemon that evolve in Gen 4 will hatch from 2k eggs.
- Cross-Gen evolutions seem to be live, but not all of them. Nosepass and Magneton can't evolve, suggesting that location-based evolution will be implemented differently. Kirlia and Snorunt can't evolve into Gallade or Froslass; implementing gender-locked evolutions might be giving Niantic some trouble. But everything else seems to be in, requiring a Sinnoh Stone. EDIT: Anything that requires a certain move to evolve, such as Tangela or Yanma, is also not active.
- EDIT 2: People are reporting that they're getting Sinnoh Stones from the 7-day Research Breakthrough. So there's actually a reason to bother with that this month.

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.So basically, as long as you have Sinnoh Stone, you can get Rhypherior, Electvire, and Magmortar, but no other G4 evolutions are live?
No, anything that needs an item to evolve and isn't Gallade or Froslass. So:
- Rhyperior
- Electivire
- Magmortar
- Porygon-Z
- Togekiss
- Honchkrow
- Gliscor
- Weavile
- Roserade
- Dusknoir
Anyone reporting G4 eeveelutions?
They're location-based evolutions in the original games, alongside Magnezone and Probopass. So, no word yet on them in Go, since they don't use an item like the ones Anura listed.

Oh wait, you must be in Japan or something. It's not even 2PM here yet. It's not even 7AM yet! EDIT: Unintended Page Topper!
