Pokemon Go

I spend a lot of time downtown, where even in a smaller city, the sheer volume of cell signals often forces rare spawns, which seemed to default to Chanseys in our case (about 80% of the spawns I got were reported by people in my raid chat). There were also Lapras and Dratinis (about one every other day, though there were more reported that I couldn't reasonably get to), though that fell off super hard about halfway through the event and I'm not sure why. I had to be downtown for that, though. If I tried to walk around where I live, it was largely non-notable commons, with maybe a Charmander or Bulbasaur, if the game felt generous. Granted, there were also some Oddishes, which I normally see zero of, so I guess that's one of those weird "uncommon common" situations that made those walks not entirely fruitless.

Oh, and speaking of those... I didn't see any Caterpies this event aside from the handful I got running into a nest in an area I don't normally visit (that promptly changed the next day). Why is this even a thing for something so junky?

It must be a regional thing, because even in my extended forays into the downtown area (which is a sizable city in my case), I didn't see any Chansey spawns (the one I did see was oddly enough by my suburban home).

It was interesting to note that the common Bug types really didn't spawn much in my area during the event, either - I honestly expected a horde of both Weedle and Caterpie (not that I'm lacking in either), but I don't think I saw any during the event. For that matter, I only saw one Drowzee, when it was infamously common back when the game first launched locally.

Regionals are available for another week? Nice.

I've got Farfetch'd, Tauros, and Kangaskhan, but I still need Mr. Mime. That's it for Kanto regionals, right?

Yep. And Mime Jr. is in the horizon anyway, so expect Europe to get a new regional and Mr. Mime to become more common.

Or, knowing Niantic, to have Mime Jr. in eggs all over the world, but Mr. Mime only spawning in Europe, and thus we'd be left stuck with the least exclusive, erm, exclusive. Oh well, at least I can get Tropius if I go south. And Illumise if I take a plane to the Canary Islands...

Here is hoping we get more of this kind of event in the future tho. Mainly for Heracross-related reasons, but Relicanth and Torkoal won't hurt.

Yeah, making Mr. Mime a region-exclusive when Mime Jr. exists seems... short-sighted.

New research is live. The Silver Pinap quest is now much easier: you just have to use 5 regular Pinap. Spinda Form 1 is now available from 2 Great Curveballs. There is also a quest that awards a Dratini for evolving 10 Water-types. And of course, 7 stamps will now award Suicune.

Also shiny Krabby. First shiny I ever encountered aside from the Red Gyarados, back in Gold even, but I couldn't catch it because my box was full. If I'm lucky I'll finally get one.

I thought the contents of an egg were determined when you got it. If I have regionals incubating, will they change to something else if I don't hatch them this week?

The contents will remain the same no matter how long you hold onto the egg.

Ooh, given how many Water types spawn locally, I am really looking forward to finding that Dratini quest.

It's relatively common (compared to the one that requires catching a dragon). I've been tripping over them the last couple days. Having enough water Pokemon to evolve has been an issue for me. However, it's recently reached snowy season here, so maybe we'll start getting Spheals popping up.

New update, new teardown:

• Some tweaks to the disciplinary code.
• Support for websockets, which apparently might reduce lag in gyms when fully implemented. It may also be a precursor to PvP.
• A new event: FALL_2018. Last year we had HALLOWEEN_2017, which implies that we're not getting a Halloween event this year.
• Meteor Mash is fully enabled, and needs only a switch flipped on the server to go live.
• Pieces of a new feature: Fitness Rewards. Every player will be given three Fitness Goals every week, to walk a certain distance for ingame rewards.

Things not found include Gen 4 assets, Kecleon's true cry (Meltan's is still in the slot), any further development on Crabhammer and Power-Up Punch, or anything to do with PvP.

Also, reports are starting to come in about multi-accounters receiving suspensions. This only seems to affect those who switch between multiple accounts on a single phone too quickly or too often.

Maybe it'll be psuedo-Hallowe'en, like a ghost-heavy event of some sort, but tagged as a fall event because it comes alongside other stuff.

Psychic Event!

• Starts tomorrow (5th), ends on the 14th.
• Psychic-types will appear more frequently in the wild.
• Research will emphasize Psychic-types.
• Shiny Drowzee!

Excited for the Ralts candy I otherwise almost never get.

That's literally the only reason I'm excited for this event. So I have enough candy to get both evolved forms for male and female when Gen 4 drops.

Ralts isn’t that uncommon around here, I have a few Gardevoir already. Kirlia raids helped too. I even got a male Gardevoir for the dex entry, since only Gallade is gender-locked.

So according to the latest newsletter (which was sent out in Spanish first for some reason), we would seem to be getting a Halloween event after all, or at least something involving Ghost-types. Only a hint though, no details.

No new Ghosts since last Halloween, soo...

Here is hoping we get Nincada at least.

• A new Pikachu hat!◊
• Alolan Geodude seems to be spawning in the wild again for some reason.
• Chrales found Shiny Ditto in the code. No reports of anyone finding one yet.

I'm not the only one who finds the new hat Pikachu common to the point of being annoying, am I? I mean, seriously, did any of the past Hatchus spawn on a level like these are?

Nope. I'm getting mighty sick of them too. It's like 1 out of 3 spawns it seems.

The summer version came pretty close where I was. I think they might have dialed it up a little bit more since they only ran the event for two days.

Well, the Pikachu are gone now.

Sinnoh's GO launch is imminent. Stats are being rebalanced ahead of it.

Eh, event Pikachu always spawn at ridiculous rates. Still, managed to find one shiny, so I can't complain.

As for the psychic event... I guess this explains why I didn't find Drowzee during the most recent Kanto event. Haven't seen the shiny form yet, but considering the spawn rate, it's only a matter of time.

Also, just dropping within the last hour - Official word that Generation IV is about to drop. For those that don't want to watch the video but do want to know what's shown - We get partial shots of Turtwig and Chimchar, distance shots of Piplup, and an ending closeup on a monochrome red closeup of Dialga's eyes.

In all seriousness, I'm kinda looking askance at that rebalancing they say they're going to do. On one hand, I like the idea that Wobbuffet, Shuckle, and Umbreon might be more usable as defenders (I have several good of each), and it has me excited that my team of Mighty Glaciers like Aggron and Rhydon will be even more effective. That said, I'm hoping this doesn't result in buffs to Blissey, because it's already a giant pain to solo gyms that put 3000+ CP Blisseys in first position, even when the defender isn't camping with Golden Razz every minute or so (especially the most popular set with Dazzling Charm, which eliminates my collection of solid Dragonites and Tyranitars from serious use).
