Pokemon Go

At the end of day one, out of a truckload of Eevee, I had nine shinies sitting pretty on top of the pile. I buddied the first one I found immediately that I now intend to make into an Umbreon, because I also got a 98% one that I'll buddy after to be my Espeon. As for the others I went through five before I had all three of the Kanto eeveelutions, landing two spare shiny Jolteon. That leaves two extras, so I'll want at least two more tomorrow so I have enough for Leafeon, Glaceon, Sylveon and one to keep as Eevee. Though I'll take as many as I can since Eevee is the Pokemon that keeps on giving, and it's likely to get another family member come Gen 8.

So they did not reset the name trick, right?

That sucks.

I only got six with the best being a whopping 67%. Cloudy weather was dicking with the spawns and at first I was annoyed, but then the game gave me a level 35 84% Machop. Then, as I was leaving my normal CD farming area at the end of the session, I stumbled upon a 100% Machop. I guess I have enough for a shiny of each variant, plus the vanilla Eevee, if I want (guaranteed, since I've only used Sakura to make my 100% Espeon, which means I just have to walk that 67% a trivial 10km tomorrow).

All in all, pretty decent rewards for what was otherwise a miserable 42C day.

I only got 2 shinies. It was raining like hell here and my umbrella started leaking, so it was miserable time.

And it's gonna rain again tomorrow, hooray.

Wanna trade? I'm stuck with 42C weather again tomorrow. It was kind of funny to watch the progression, though. The area started with something like 50-60 people hunting Eevees. By the end of the second hour, the heat was so bad (especially since that strip of street is garbage for shade cover) that there was maybe 8 of us left.

It was so funny that all the normal Eevees I got were 90% or better. No joke, I was getting awesome Eevee spawns. However, every single SHINY EEVEE I got was complete garbage and trash. Thanks for trolling me, game.

That's pretty much been the normal experience for me with wild shinies. I think the only ones I own that have been rolled as 82%+ came from research or raids.

Well, due to a variety of personal reasons, I only got out for about half of Saturday and none of Sunday, but I did manage to get one shiny out of the whole thing. That'll be an Umbreon with a bit more walking.

3 eevees over the course of 2 days and I think about 30-50 encounters or so. Got one of each of the Gen 1s.

I still find the shiny eevee to look the best over their shiny evolved counterparts.

I had terrible luck with the Community Day. I missed out on Saturday, then walked around for two out of the three hours Sunday and didn't catch a single Shiny Eevee. (It's not all bad, though; my sister ended up with three and she plans to trade one of them to me.)

Additionally, I saw a group doing a Registeel raid and ran to join in...but they had already taken him down by the time the pre-raid clock ran out. Made me wish that you could just hit a button to go straight to the raid once you had a team ready and a group to join. -_-

Sorry to hear the Eevee hunting didn't work out for you.

As for the Registeel, if the other group beat him while you were still waiting on the pre-raid countdown, that means you were in a different lobby, so you wouldn't have gotten into the fight with them. Once the first group's pre-raid countdown runs out, it's impossible to join their raid without them backing out to restart.

Gotcha.

Weather was shitty but my grand total was four shinies.

I managed to get the three Kanto evolutions; I did nickname them just in case, but I probably just got lucky on some or never actually used the name trick on others.

Saving the fourth shiny Eevee for either Leafeon, Glaceon, or Sylveon.

If you're picking between one of those three, go with shiny Sylveon. Shiny Glaceon is to regular Glaceon what shiny Articuno is to regular Articuno (I think each case even uses the exact same palette). Leafeon, both normal and shiny, borrows heavily from the appropriate palette for Exeggutor (which, if you're not familiar with the games, results in the green parts turning brown when shiny). Neither particularly is appealing to me. Shiny Sylveon, though, is a very nice shade of baby blue, and it looks really nice.

That said, I still think the Gen II Eeveelutions are the best in their shiny form (with Sylveon in third place).

I know what all the shinies look like.

I was indeed leaning toward Sylveon, though.

Next CD announced. Saturday 22nd of September, Chikorita. Bonus is triple catch XP. They haven't said that Meganium is getting Frenzy Plant, but...

Also they're back to just one day. Boo.

EDIT: Serebii says that the two CDs after that will be October 21st and November 10th.

I'm guessing that the November 10th one is going to be Cyndaquil if they keep up the theme of a Starter-themed CD every other month.

Also, that's a pretty short length of time between the October and November Community Days. I'm guessing that this means that they have something planned for the week of Thanksgiving or something.

Not too excited about Chickorita, as I'm pretty neutral on the design. That said, I've seen so few of them that I'm currently miles off of completing the Dex entries, so if nothing else, I can do that. Triple catch XP might be nice, too, though only if I haven't hit level 38 by then. I'm not in a big hurry to grind out that final pointless 8 million.

Saw this coming. Guessing October will be Bagon and November Cyndaquil, if their pattern holds (Starter every 2 months, pseudo-legend every 4).

Well, Bagon or Beldum, one or the other. And given that I haven't gotten enough candies for either Salamence or Metagross, I'm not particularly picky.

I always feel bad for Chikorita. I love the design, actually - brontosaurus was always my favorite dinosaur growing up, and it's basically one of those when it becomes Meganium. Of course, it is hampered by the fact that, well, it's possibly the absolute weakest of the starters in series history. It really doesn't help that its niche in the handheld games is not really feasible in this one (and it's mediocre at that even in the originals). I'll try to get out and get a Frenzy Plant Meganium for old time's sake (and, obviously, try for a shiny, even if it's one of the duller ones).

Same here. I've always had a soft spot for the Chikorita line despite it being a lackluster line from a gameplay perspective.

Also...I went to trade a Pokémon for a Shiny Eevee like I mentioned before, but for some reason, the game is refusing to let my sister trade the Pokémon with me because I don't have enough Stardust.

I don't get it. We're three-tier friends, I have 42,000+ Stardust at the moment, and the game would gladly allow a trade with any of my sister's other Shinies. Why won't it allow a trade with a Shiny Eevee?

Shinies that you don't have yet are just as expensive as legendaries you don't have. At Ultra Friends, that's 80,000 dust◊.

Oh, that makes sense...

Don't forget that trades are discounted by 25% until Aug 19 at 9PM PDT (so it's "only" 60k right now). If you're feeling impatient and want to grind the Stardust out before you get to Best Friends, now is the time.
