Update is now forced. Looking forward to a whack of Lucky Pokemon from the trading spree I'll be going on this weekend. Also, the Stardust in gifts has been live for nearly an hour and it's possible to get multiple stacks. I just got 2x 100 Stardust from one of Anura's gifts.

EDIT: Someone just gave me 3x 100 Stardust.

Looks like Lucky Pokemon are now live.

I've been enjoying the stardust I've been getting in gifts. I'm also hoping that the quantity of stardust will increase with friend levels, particularly as I have a few close to Ultra at this point (yes, I realize it probably won't, but I can hope).

So... when the hell are we getting the Ditto-rewarding Research Tasks we were promised? I still need one for Mew.

[up] Apparently there was some sort of glitch that stopped it from working. At this point I'm expecting them next month.

Speaking of next month, Raikou!

A few things. The Event Pikachu are gone, for starters.

Alolan Eggs have been altered. Ratatta has been removed, Geodude and Diglett have been added. Everything now has equal odds of hatching except Vulpix, which is still rarer than the others but is more common than it was before.

Eight forms for Spinda have been spotted by a prolific dataminer. Not quite the four billion plus patterns of the main series, but I guess they couldn’t just use the same formula.

Thank goodness. I was disappointed when I hatched an Alolan Rattata out of one of those eggs recently. [lol] Though, oddly, I already hatched an Alolan Geodude once before today. Are you sure they haven't always been there?

Alolan Geodude wasn't always there, unless it was super duper rare. You're the first I've heard having hatched one. Heck, I haven't even seen any outside of the day they launched (that said, on said day, it was overcast locally, so the very first one I caught was over 90% and level 32, so I didn't exactly spend lots of time hunting for them; I just evolved that and have been enjoying using it).

I was really upset that Alolan Rattata was even an option (they're pretty common spawns around here), so glad it's gone. Kinda looking forward to Diglett hatches, actually - they've never been common locally, so I need more candy to get Alolan Dugtrio.

Minor thing I discovered this morning - the rollover for the research weekly rewards is apparently in the afternoon locally. I still got a Snorlax this morning.

Finally, for Spinda... Eh, not totally surprised about the spots. It would probably be too unwieldy for a cell phone game. Also, seriously, until breeding is implemented in this game (and who knows if it ever will be, or if breeding would be as useful as it is in the handhelds), I'm really not concerned with it.

Yeah, I've held off on claiming my research reward until the rollover is called out on Reddit. Apparently it usually happens at 1pm PDT, so 5 hours and 10 minutes from now.

Geodude and Diglett were put into Alolan Eggs shortly after Go Fest ended. I got an Alolan Geodude from one while I was still trying to take advantage of the reduced egg distance.

Okay, double checking the source: these changes happened on July 20th, it just took them this long to make sure they had the new rarity tiers down correctly (Meowth, Sandshrew, Grimer, Geodude and Diglett each have a 19% chance to hatch, Vulpix is 5%).

Now Raikou is live. Spinda is also available as a reward for a "3 curveballs" quest.

Okay, so quests seem to have a cats-and-dogs theme now, probably because of the Johto beasts and the whole "are they cats or dogs" agument. Also, Snubbull and Houndour can now be shiny.

Shiny Houndour! Awesome! Now if they only spawned... (I'm guessing that there's a quest this month that rewards them, but I haven't gotten it yet.)

I'm surprised you didn't stumble into one last month. I feel like the rate was majorly boosted because prior to July, I used to see maybe one per week, if that. In July, I was often running into 1-2 per day.

Also, apparently there's a triple candy trading event on now. Right after I did 200-some trades with a friend I only get to see a couple times a year that would have had us drowning in candy due to maxed Pokemon distance. RIP.

EDIT: Oops, I guess it's double candy and triple XP (as well as -25% Stardust cost). Still would have drowned us in candy.

@Anura: Figures... Meowth are not common spawns locally. Fortunately, I still have a ton of Alolan Meowth and candies from hatching sprees last month.

As for Snubbull... that one, I'm way less worried about, since they are an uncommon (going up to semi-common in cloudy weather) spawn locally. Not that I'm lacking in Skitty either.

Also, is it me, or are catches as research rewards less common than they used to be? I swear, every time I spin these days, my new research reward is stardust, balls, or berries (and I typically ditch those).

Not as far as I'm aware. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I've always had to wade through 5-6 quests with other rewards per encounter quest. Granted, I want all the Stardust I can get, so I usually do those ones if I think it can be completed in a reasonably short amount of time. Ball and berry rewards typically get insta-ditched, though.

I usually do ball quests if they're fairly painless, mostly on the theory that I can quickly run through them regardless. That said, there is some amount of weighing at just how onerous they might be versus reward. I will generally do ones for ultra balls regardless.

At any rate, somewhat moot, since it sounds like I'm just oddly hitting a bumper crop of item rewards. Well, there is consistently one 'mon I keep finding for quests, but lest I get mobbed for complaining about it (beyond the fact that it's semi-common around here in spawns), I'll just say that I'm tired of finding the same dang thing over and over from quests.

Man, I don't know about where anyone else is, but the Spinda quest is so controversial around here. Not surprisingly, the issue boils down to just how good you are with throwing curveballs. I'm very good at it, so I literally got mine a minute after finding the quest (via going through my queue). On the other hand, I have a friend who's been trying for three days to finish the quest, as he's not at all good at it. Half my local friends are cheering how easy it is to get once you find the quest, and the other half are howling in rage that it's the only way to get one.
