Saw that one as well.
Seens like JP really keeps NA on a leash, don't they?
Gotta pity poor Albert. He's doing his best, but PR just isn't what he's trained for.
This is why I vastly prefer global servers. Too much politics dividing up the fanbase like this.
DW don't care about NA at all.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.so best strat for this is slow and steady till everyone has dropped to a certain point then nuke everyone?
Secret SignatureI just realized there's another William I forgot. Clinton.
It boggles my mind that this happens in a company with the resources Aniplex has to throw around. My company has fewer than 100 people and we would never accept this.
It's been fun.It sounds like they change just send an email to literally ANYONE doing LN translations on the internet and get reliably higher quality translations. Heck, they can ask THE FANBASE and I would not be surprised if they had dozens of applicants begging them for the right to translate for quartz.
Pff, tons of fan LN translations have terrible quality.
Yup. Official translations aren't exempt from this either. Especially weekly stuff like manga. Sometimes meaning gets lost especially with wordplay and obscure mythology figures or a word in Japanese having multiple meaning and trying to figure out which is what. Having a short timeframe to figure it out doesn't help.
Of course you have works where they have their teams working together so that number of errors is minimal like Granblue, but Gbf benefits from it being part of the Japanese servers and they take the translation meant for english reading players seriously.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I mean, I will cop to it - I wouldn't want to be the person in charge of making Nasu's word vomit readable, either. It barely makes sense on a conceptual level sometimes. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't hold native-language translators as the first standard - in fact, it's a stronger argument for. Just look at any FGO wiki to see why you need a strong English polisher for this material.
It's been fun. That and sometimes the owner of the work will just insist on something being done the wrong way. Like "Altria". Apparently that was demanded by Nasu, even though pretty much everyone and their mother go with "Artoria" or "Arturia". Or "Knight of Owner". Seriously, I thought that was a mistranslated "Knight of Honor" and my friend told me "nope, that's actually what it is" and I'm just wondering really?
Edited by danime91 on Sep 24th 2018 at 6:52:10 AM
Huh? I heard that it was demanded by Type-Moon, not Nasu.
Knight of Owner makes sense because his whole thing is taking ownership of stuff and making it his own.
Edited by EpicBleye on Sep 24th 2018 at 9:57:29 AM
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeYeah, Knight of Owner is the right translation since the effect is that everything Lancelot touches becomes his noble phantasm. Really should be something like Knight's Ownership but Nasu can't English....
To this day, I still say "Fucking' what, mate?" on that. I've since took official translations with a grain of salt.
EDIT: "Knight of Owner" doesn't make sense. Even knowing his Noble Phantasm, it sounds like Meaningless Meaningful Words. Should've been something like .

A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.Or Knight's Mastery or something. It's a literal translation, and any professional can tell you that the literal translation is rarely the right translation.
It is indeed meaningless meaningful words. 'Naito obu Onaa' in Japanese sounds cool to a native Japanese speaker (and is an English glaze given to the real title, Kishi wa Toshu nite Shisezu (A knight will never die empty-handed)), but it's borderline nonsense that only works if you take a very vague interpretation of all the words involved. Which is pretty standard for fantasy works in Japanese.
To be honest, I'm really lucky to have the creative freedom I do on my projects and to not have bosses breathing down my neck and wiki editor fans pushing up their glasses and going "um, actually, if you were a real fan...", but.
It's been fun.Yeah, I read this longer post a day ago, and man oh man do I go "what were they thinking" sometimes. Looks like Albert thinks that too.
Don't catch you slippin' now.Alekos: I don't remember if you play NA or JP FGO. Are you talking about the 2016 challenge or today's JP challenge?
Should be able to get Quetz to 100 tomorrow and Chiron to 80. After that I can start building up a stockpile of gold exp and burning all the silver for mana prisms.

When you thought you had enough EXP cards, 1/2 AP on hands.
Singularity summon (hey, Bedi)
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru! Both, but only something like the Taiga quest could really get such a reaction from me.
Secret SignatureSigh...That's so dumb. Who needs more EXP after a lottery??
Edited by nightwyrm_zero on Sep 25th 2018 at 7:44:10 AM
I do, I didn't play Nerofest
Also, I know the company probably doesn't have the resources to keep a game like this running, but I still wish X Seed was the one translating this, their work is always top-notch.
And I don't think its "Nasu can't English" so much as is "Japanese Authors can't English". There's a reason its called Surprisingly Good English.
Not that Western authors have a much better record when using foreign languages, but you get my point.

Got hyped for the Nightingale rate-up for a while until I opened the link and saw it was for EN.
>1/2 AP EXP nodes during a lotto
>Master Missions require gems
Disorganized much?

A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.alekos: Well, I can tell you what I did at least. I went with a frontline of Merlin, Jeanne and Nitocris as an AOE Arts Servant. Keep Jeanne as the focus of attacks and launch AOE NPs to bring down Nobu without having to directly target her 'cause if you do then she'll get her field effect and murder you with Buster attacks. When one of them is about to NP, make sure you hit someone else so that they don't have their field effect. Otherwise their NPs do very little to your party.
After Nobu goes down, bring out a Lancer like Ereshkigal and wear down Taiga and Jeanne. Keep focusing on Jeanne since she's less dangerous when buffed unless you do something like use an Invul skill, at which point you can pound on Taiga to make sure she goes down first. Then race to the end to beat Jeanne, who will now unavoidably have the field buff (hitting Jeanne doesn't give Taiga a field buff, which is why you'll probably kill her first) but be careful cause now she's actually pretty dangerous.
Another write-up on the FGO localization panel. It has some stuff which the first one missed.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru!
