So, I took a quick look through the first page, didn't see anything that seemed to relate to this. In any case, something on my wish list would be some kind of notification or alert if your edit is blocked because your lock expired and someone else locked the article.

So, I had an experience lately where I was doing a long, involved edit on an article with lots of typing, pot holing, etc. Between previewing a few times to proofread, check grammar, make sure all the markup and pot holes worked properly, etc., my lock on the article expired. Finally satisfied, I went ahead and sent the changes, but I went back to check the final result again anyway on the updated page and couldn't find any of my changes. Confused, I checked the history and saw that someone began serial tweaking the article after my lock expired, and presumably I sent the changes in during a point where they had the article locked.

A little while later I went back and entered my edits again only to find that the same thing happened. This time it wasn't as big a deal because I kept the preview changes tab open just in case, so I was able to copy and paste my edits from the preview page, but nonetheless it got me thinking that some kind of alert that the edit had been blocked because of someone else's lock, or, ideally, some way of saving and holding onto the text & markup of the changes that you tried to enter could be useful in such a case, especially with popular works when they're getting constantly updated.

Any thoughts or ideas? Has this happened to anyone else? And how practical a change would this be?
