No clue but we are getting a CG King Shark, so probably higher than BOP.
I think if they learn a lesson, it’s that Harley isn’t leading material. She’s a supporting character.
They also need to advertise the hell out of it being made by Gunn. Maybe add a Huge conveniently placed subtitle at the bottom

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I mean, right now, it's pretty clear you are enjoying telling people that BOP is bombing and will never get a sequel (even dismissing movies that have gotten sequels with the same type of box office), so...do you just hate BOP and it's fans? Why even comment here if all you want to do is tear people down?

Mileena MadnessThe article notes that Birds of Prey is performing roughly identically to John Wick 2, it's just JW2 had a budget about half of Birds.
Edited by Tuckerscreator on Feb 23rd 2020 at 1:25:33 AM
Well Suicide Squad on a budget of 170 million made 325 million & 421 million for a total of 746 million.
Compared to BOP which still hasn’t yet made back its small budget domestic wise, it still made a profit & this justified a sequel regardless of critical reception.
While BOP being a rather low earned means it might not get a sequel.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I imagine two things will get the blame, the visual people and the character. It's not a men vs women thing (more men saw the film) but all things being equal, it was perceived as a visual turnoff. Even Rob Liefeld went and compared the costumes to Suicide Squad's (female) costume designer, pointing out they had a consistent punk rock aesthetic vs the one here.
Harley meanwhile, isn’t Deadpool, and the circumstances of such were completely different. Deadpool’s advertising was Ryan Reynolds throwing himself fully into promising a great product, outright mocking the previous film, and showing off a comics accurate outfit. I mean the first look at the outfit and the R-rating announcement was a joke unto itself.
Meanwhile the only thing the cast of BOP really went after was the costumes and visual style of SS (ironic when it won an Oscar for makeup and hairstyling) in favor of what we got. There was no disconnect, nothing at the scale of what Deadpool did.

Suicide Squad's Oscar was widely decried as undeserved that year.
Also Rob Liefeld can comment on costume design when he learns to draw women.
I'm not saying studios execs aren't going to try and blame something, but the visuals shouldn't be it.
I agree that Deadpool had a much better advertising campaign, which is something that BOP really needed. Suicide Squad had the advantage of having a great first trailer which hyped people up, but by the time of BOP's trailer, I think audiences had gotten savvy to DCEU's trailers not being indicative of the movies.

I mean the visuals for BOP wasn’t really bad.
About the most noticeable issue is the costuming & this critique centers squarely on Harley because she still looks like a dirty crack head from SS.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Liefeld has about as much expertise in film as Ed Wood had skill in making "masterpieces."
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherHey now he can draw men just as bad. His Captain America is a thing of nightmares.
And rob is the last person to complain about costumes and aesthetics considering how infamous the dude is.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."You know he’s doing a GI Joe series? We all wish we could fail upwards as much as Liefeld.
Point is, I do think the aesthetic was a turn off. So much so I wouldn’t be surprised if Gunn did try to put Robbie in the jester outfit for TSS.
On a visual level, Birds is one of the most aesthetically creative superhero movies I've seen. Even the MCU, which I like, tends to go with largely practical but mundane designs. Sometimes we get something fantastic like Hela's black antlered helmet and Valkyrie's Māori/Roman warrior garb, other times it's something boring like Thanos wearing what looks like a dad on a sofa would.
Seriously, I want Huntress's suit. To quote Terminator: "I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle."

It's less degrading too which I like.
I want that harlequinn outfit. It's cute dammit

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I honestly can’t tell the difference.
I’m comparing the outfits she wore from each movie & neither comes across as particularly better than the other.
She still looks like a person I wouldn’t touch unless it’s with a 10-foot stick.
Well she is wearing slightly less shorter shorts but her shirt is even more cut than in SS.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."At least no changing in public, right?
Wake me up at your own risk.Something I also seen noted about the costume design in Birds is that it really shows the designers were thinking about what it'd be like to wear these for long periods and what they'd be suited for.
Harley's still wearing shorts and a swimsuit top but they don't look painful to spend hours in the way her Suicide Squad ones did. Huntress is baring her midriff and underboobs but her armor is still covering all her vital organs. Even with minor characters; when Black Mask forces an unfortunate woman to strip in public, the woman is wearing a fancy party dress but underneath her underwear is quite plain. So there was a lot of thought put into these designs and viewers have noticed.

God created Alex Ross.
The Devil created Rob during a drunken binge.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Ross gives us the perfect man, Liefeld gives us twisted exaggerations.
Rob Liefeld is known for three things:
- Pouches. All of the pouches. So many pouches. Think you have enough pouches? You are WRONG, there can always be more pouches.
- Never drawing feet if it can be avoided. And making them little formless hexagons if it can't.
- Captain America's Stonking Great Tits.
Also, all his women live in a constant state of pain and teror because of their incredibly fucked up anatomy.
Honestly, from what I can tell Rob has improved his art somewhat as of late, but regardless, I'd still be hesitant to care that much about his opinion on most things.
What's the budget on the suicide squad. Or is to early to tell ?
