Keep in mind that I'm just trying to make conversation here about Greg Weisman's animated work and the topic of this particular conversation is the apparent patterns that can be found in said works.

Yes, I'm well aware of the elements of Shakespeare and (to a degree) Star Trek present, but what about the other patterns?

In light of this time of year, I'll just come right out and say that 4 of his animated shows had holiday specials. Two had New Year's eve (3 if you count the spinoff comic of another show), two had Valentine's Day, one had the Fourth of July, 2 had Thanksgiving and two had Christmas. Truth to tell, the aforementioned shows were all The Spectacular Spider-Man and Young Justice. But even so, all of the Greg Weisman shows i've watched (Star Wars: Rebels not withstanding) have had a Halloween special, which actually brings up another pattern i've noticed in these shows; how bad things and/or important milestones always seem to happen in these shows during or around Halloween.

Gargoyles -

A.) Xanatos and Fox prepare to marry and the Manhattan Clan gain possession of the Eye of Odin.

B.) Elisa and Goliath go through "issues", the Manhattan clan gets assaulted by Thailog, Goliath get badly injured, Xanatos and the Illuminati get a plan started, Thailog sets his own plan into motion

W.I.T.C.H. - Nerrissa is taken care of but Prince Phobos gains incredible power and begins his own campaign of terror.

The Spectacular Spider-Man - The Green Goblin's secret is (supposedly) revealed) and Harry Osborn is sent away

Young Justice - Artemis find out about Superboy and Miss Martian's little secret, Harm goes on a rampage, a meeting is held to discuss the "mole within the team" issue and Artemis and Zatanna learn about how a little girl died at the hands of her brother

Any thoughts regarding any of this? Because personally, i find it kind of sad that Halloween is used for such hard and depressing stories.

Halloween is a "spooky" and "darker" holiday compared to the apparently more upbeat Christmas. And making Christmas depressing is probably too easy? I'm actually surprised YJ never did mention Christmas or (to a lesser degree) Valentine's Day, but it's not a complaint.

You can also ask him on his website if he prefers to handle certain holidays a specific way. And they'll get answered (eventually) if they don't ask for some spoiler, though I doubt there's much spoiler to ask for.

I would've liked Saint Patrick's Day or Easter to be mentioned though. tongue
