No, that's the general consensus discussed before.
Disney wants their shit off Netflix so they can launch their own app (Disney Plus). Disney wants their whole library on that and nowhere else.
But, they also don't want family unfriendly stuff on there. Which puts the Marvel Netflix shows at an odd place since, while Disney could have theoretically bought the rights for the shows back and become the full publisher of the series, the shows are violent, bloody, and even discuss sexual assault and that's not something Disney wants on their app.
But they're STILL unwilling to allow Netflix even a small slice of that Disney Pie.
There's also discussion on if the ratings are worth it here and there but that's more of something I can't quite get into.
Given Loeb's position, I wouldn't be surprised if both things were true in some measure.
Plus, I wouldn't put too much stock in any statement made from either side. No one really points fingers in these kinds of things unless there was already some known contention on the matter.
I'm kind of with , that sounds more like a "You can't fire me. I quit!" situation to me.
Eh, let's be honest here, the last seasons barely generated interests. I suspect that is the reason why they waited with the announcement regarding Punisher, to gauge if it might be the exception. Obviously it wasn't.
The Defenders kind of killed the Netflix verse.
There's a lot of disparaging things I want to say about Defenders somehow being a Franchise Killer to the Netflix-verse when shows like Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and Agents of Shield have gone through several ups and lows and survived less than stellar freshman seasons, but I won't.
Suffice to say this is a horrible situation and I'm feeling far less inclination to see anything Disney-related for awhile. It'd sting less if the ship weren't kicking everybody else off so that Scarlet Witch and Loki could board.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!This was Netflix decision, not Disney's.
Even if it is their decision, Disney up and pulling all of their other things certainly didn't help the deal. Disney picked up their toys and went home. That's naturally going to sour any deal.
Again, I don't think the decision was as much on Netflix's end. I kind of feel like this is one of those situiations where Disney may not have outright cancelled it, but certain pieces were put into places where Disney probably wanted and prefered them to cancel.
So as much as I know that's not going to happen, (Avengers Endgame Spoilers ahead) it would be really interesting to have this last season of JJ take place on the post-Snap, pre-Endgame world, with Jessica being swamped by people asking her to find their loved ones.
But that'll never happen.
Did we ever get a release date for this last season, by the way? I'm increasingly suspicious that they'll just drop it on our heads without warning someday.
To anyone worried, those are really minor Endgame spoilers. It's basically just "what if season 3 takes place after Infinity War".

It was entirely Netflix's decision.
- "This is a common rumor that Jeph Loeb himself took time to debunk during his recent appearance at Fan Expo Dallas in May 2019. When asked about the possibility of the series being revived at Hulu, he included this statement about the Disney rumors:""I still see every day posts where some genius will say that: Netflix had nothing to do with this. DISNEY wanted all those characters back and that's what happened. That is NOT what happened. [...] As I have said REPEATEDLY, the network always has the right to decide that they don't want to continue..."
...you're responding to a discussion from almost three months ago.
Interesting. Looks like it's going to be the new villain. I'm also wondering what will happen to Trish.
I almost wonder if it is Trish but for some reason, that doesn't actually make much sense to me. So yeah, probably the new Big Bad.
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.I really hope that it's a villain from the comics, unlike Season 2, where they just made Jessica's mother into a villain. I've always thought that June Covington, the Toxic Doxie, would make a good villain for Jessica. After all, Jessica may be super strong and tough, but she's not immune to poison.
Doesn't seem like Trish's kind of thing. Can't imagine who it would be, though.
Final season to release June 14th
...well, I'm going to be one week late to that, then.
Still, good. We finally get the final date, then. Still can't tell who the villain is supposed to be.
You can tell Netflix is trying to bury the show, not releasing a date announcement until this late in the going.
The cold never bothered me anyway
These shows might have been cancelled because Disney wants to make it's own Netflix.
Don't quote me on that, I've no clue if that's true or not.
Ain't that a good pagetopper.
