Rex finally stood up without feeling dizzy and headed to where Adam went, the massive bonfire the other inhabitants of the city had created.

"So, what are you guys d..." he stopped himself because Asgore, Darth Marr, and Legion were discussing their pasts. Apparently genocide was a common theme between them.

He listened in silence until Asgore commented that using technology to enhance human beings sounded too advanced for his homeworld.

"You have to come to my Earth then. We had a problem six years ago and now a lot people turn into mutant freaks at random. Luckily, I can cure them"

Legion chose first to respond to Asgore. "I cannot make an accurate statement of the technological level of our galaxy without an idea of your advanced technology. However, given that you speak of a single world, I can draw assumptions."

It then looked over to Adam. "There exists outside of our galaxy a race of multi-million year old machines, gestalt hive minds made of entire civilizations. These Old Machines, once every 50,000 years, enter the galaxy and cull it of all spacefaring life for reasons we have yet to understand. The Old Machines themselves have kinetic barriers strong enough to require entire fleets to deplete, and carry weapons that themselves are capable of annihilating dreadnoughts in single blows. In addition, their technology, through means also unknown to us, is capable of corrupting and bending the minds of organics to serve as their pawns before completely eroding their mind and transforming them into a Husk - a cyber-organic "zombie" that knows nothing but servitude."

It then turned to Rex, idly noting that it was turning a lot these days. "Please specify."

Adam stared at Legion wide eyed, the cigarette dropped out of his mouth.

"Jesus Legion. What you just described sounds along the lines of a HP Lovecraft Cosmic Horror!"

Legion worked for a few moments as it accessed the library's network. "H.P. Lovecraft. Human author. Became famous for his works of horror starring monstrosities beyond human understanding, which have themselves become their own genre. An apt comparison to what the Reapers are, and what they can do. The galaxy is currently engaged in a war with them. We are losing. Organic civilizations - and by extension, the geth - are placing faith in the Crucible, an unknown alien superweapon that may hold the key to the destruction of the Reapers. We have no options left."

Legion wanted more details and Rex was happy to comply. A pity that he only had and approximate ide of what made nanites a problem in his world.

"A facility that was experimenting with nanites somewhere in Eastern Europe, exploded. Nobody really knows what caused it but apparently I was there when it happened. Sometimes people mutate thanks to these machines and I take care of them"

Realizing that it sounded like he killed them, Rex explained.

"Of course, I don't kill them. I just absorb the nanites that turned them into monsters in the first place. Works most of the time"

"Sounds like your only option is kind of shit. Does anyone even know what the Crucible does or what the consequences will be?" Adam didn't place too much faith in what he had just heard.

Despite the roaring storm outside, Legion had become distracted in the downtime, listening to Rex recount his rather simple story. A nanobot experimentation facility explosion gave Rex the ability to absorb the nanites that spread out and caused people to turn into monsters. "How do the nanites work? What were they designed for?"

Legion then refocused on Adam. "As of right now we only know the Crucible exploits the technology of mass relays to destroy the Reapers. However, as I have stated, we have few options and no time."

Legion asked Rex how the nanites worked. Poor guy, he was not going to get any substantial from him. He simply didn't know most of the details.

"I don't know man. I think they were designed to cure illness or something. That was when I was a kid and I can only remember the last 18 months or so of my life"

Legion also had troubles of his own with the alien invasion and all.

"Maybe there's something else you can do against them. Have you tried reverse engineering their technology?"

"That sounds more like an accident than something done intetionally" Asgore told Rex, before looking back at Legion "Most technology in the underground were simply human trash that managed to pass through the barrier, most of them ending up being carried by a waterfall. We made use of those remnants to make our own things, but overall our technology wasn't too impressive. The most impressive thing we managed to create was a robot with a soul made by my Royal Scientist."

Specter Knight simply listened to the others talk about their respective worlds. From what he'd heard about them, his and Plague Knight's world sounded quite quaint in comparison.

Legion nodded, as if it understood that Rex was unable to explain any more.

"Reverse-engineering Reaper technology is an extremely dangerous affair," explained Legion. "As stated before, Reaper technology is capable of indoctrinating individuals - bending their minds through unknown means to worship the Reapers as gods, then eroding their free will and turning them into shells. While there has been success, especially with Reaper code, which lacks that ability as it is merely data stored by software, it is an extremely dangerous affair and the risk is generally not worth the end result."

To Asgore, Legion responded... rather calmly, as it often had a tendency to do. "In that case it can be presumed the Underground is a low-tier civilization, understandable given your situation. Current galactic civilization is capable of casual interstellar travel. I feel no more need to elaborate on the technological gap."

"So from the feel of it. Our worlds might be closer in terms of Technology," Adam noted, "I'd think that would be a safe bet considering the level of technology needed to even make my nanoblades work."

He held up a arm and in a flash out extended a black rectangular blade, the coat's sleeve being retracted by the arm's functions.

"Apparently I can fire multiples of these, something about a nanofactory within the arms shaving off a block of alloyed material to make these. Or extremely large storage."

Legion watched as Adam demonstrated his nanoblades. "Most conventional weapons work utilizing the same technology. A targeting computer estimates the distance and variables needed to strike the target before shaving off a round from a tungsten ammunition block. The round is no larger than a grain of sand but is shaped to hit the target. Element zero generators then reduce its mass to the point where it can be fired at a significant fraction of the speed of light. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in velocity."

Marr then heard Asgore and Legion asked why they used the force wrong.

"The Force. While it flows through every living being, there only a few individuals who can use it to their advantage. These greats powers allows them to heal the wounded, manipulate the minds of the weak willed, jump an amazing distance than a normal person and many other things..the reason why the Jedi attacked the Sith though.."

"Back then, only the Jedi were the only Main Force users. They preached self control, and being emotionless because they believed that was their way to empower themselves to the Force and be at "balance"...though this separated them and made them look...alien from the people that were non force sensitive. Though some of the first Jedi, who wold become the new Sith, just didn't believed that way, they said that channeling their emotions, with some of them such as love, compassion, passion, happiness could make them as powerful, while not making them apathetic to others."

Darth Marr paused.

"Those who spoke that thought were exiled, or killed. Those exiled found out the homeworld of the Sith, Korriban...they were given asylum, protection and those exiled ex-Jedi helped teach the Sith their ways..and the rest is history."

"So while the Jedi use the Force with "Calmness", The Sith use their emotions to empower themselves along with the Force."

Adam shot him a look, "Did you say manipulate minds? And that how much emotion you feel can affect how much power."

As everyone told their stories it was only natural for Marr to tell his. Legion listened intently. Evidently, the Force was a strange and unidentifiable power similar to magic that allowed for a great many things. Evidently the Jedi were the main force users, and they practiced spiritual beliefs of calmness that were easily comparable to several religions and ways of thinking such as human Buddhism. Some Jedi, however, thought that they could use it to bolster their emotions.

So naturally, a war broke out.

"The Jedi ideology of how to use the Force seems exactly as valid as the Sith ideology. Emotions are a natural process for organics. They are a reflex of your hardware, though for synthetics they do not come as standard. The Jedi focus on controlling their code, and the Sith choose to embrace it instead, as emotions have been accepted as a fact of organic life, with the exceptions of some sects. Both I see as valid paths."

"It is a shame that the Jedi decided violence was the answer."

"I agree that both ways to use it seem valid. I can see some similarities between the Force and our soul power or magic, but unlike you we do not know the exact nature of our soul power and what can be done with it, we only know the powers we do have and that human souls and monster souls are different from each other."

Asgore then folds his arms, looking a bit pensive

Darth Marr turned to Adam.

"I understand your doubts, though I feel that if you came to my world, you would understand what I say is true."

Marr then turned to Asgore.

"Did the humans in your world use magic just like your kind? Or was this soul magic only usable by Monsters?"

He asked the monster king.

Asgore smiled a little at Adam, then turned to Marr "It is more difficult for humans to use magic as they do not have an innate talent for it, but it is possible. The barrier that trapped us in the underground was magical even. However, from what I have seen so far, it seems that humans lost their magical talent as time passed. Why, I do not know."

Ben's ears perked up when Asgore explained that in his world, humans were unable to do magic. He turned around and looked at the king of the monsters.

"My cousin's a human, and she can use magic," he explained. "Well, she got a book from an evil wizard and his apprentice, and I don't know if they're human, but still... she can do it," he explained. He then shrugged. "Maybe it's just that humans in my world can still use magic. Who knows? I don't really understand that magical stuff."

Rick's Lab

"Run, Morty!" shouted Rick as the hulking Space Marine grabbed him. "I miscalculated! He, he's smarter than he looks!" Morty obliged even before his grandfather finished his sentence, with the teen scrambling for the door and bolting out into the frozen city. Rick raised his hands in the hopefully universal language of surrender as the Space Marine grabbed him.

"Okay," said Rick as he was swung around by the head and brought to face Marcus's impassive blue helmet, "hear me out on this. If we're in a city where nobody can die, nothing you 'purge'", he continued, making sarcastic air quotes with his fingers, "will matter, because everything comes back to life. What if I told you that the reason we're all stuck here, together, is *urp* because some higher-dimensional xeeee-no kidnapped us all, huh? Okay, and the only way you can get anything to stay dead is if we work together and, you know, beat the shit out of this nth-dimensional asshole?" Rick raised his eyebrow at the Space Marine.

"Why are you even doing this?" asked Morty from the doorframe; only a few seconds outside and his skin was already beginning to turn blue.
