Everything just kept going wrong. Lewis sort of demanded her points , (If she had been able to think rationally about it, she would probably seen that it wasn't all that forceful, but it was all just getting overwhelming). Thomas was actually angry about Sans insulting Ben and not what haf though and just straight up left ... It was just getting too much ...
Suddenly, she felt what barely resgistered as the familiar pull of teleportation. Before she could even taking in much else, Sans started to speak to her.
She very slowly shook her head and barely managed to utter, "Don't ... It all sort of just ... Happened ... I-I ... Just ... How could it all just go so wrong ... I ... You're probably right ... Maybe we really should take a break ..."
Althought she was aware on a very basic level of being in a new location, she still didn't have the presence to be all that curious about her surroundings just yet. By the same notion, although she was still holding her phone and it was beeping and vibrating due to a new message, she didn't quite register it.

I swept in front of Thomas, cutting him off. "I don't appreciate your attitude, young man. If you want to bitch at someone about their choice of friends, you can do so in private instead of making a scene. Do you understand that?"
Ben replied.
...So that's how it was, was it.
I stared at the reply, having nothing to counter it with, and, realizing I was getting worked up, settled for changing tactics.
A beat.
I began writing a comment about how I know a thing or two about how terrifying the void is based on experience, but decided against sending it.
Caro hadn't replied back and it was starting to trouble me, so I tried to make sure she was still there. Caro?

Caro was still pretty shaken by everything, but she didn't seem to be upset with him, thankfully. Letting out another sigh, Sans grabbed her free hand gently.
"come on, let's go for a little walk and take a breath,"
Assuming there would be no resistance from her, Sans would then begin leading Caro into the streets. Either way, he took notice of how late it was getting, that competition was really going to end soon and so in spite of not wanting to pressure Caro with it, it did mean she'd have to make a decision soon. Clock was ticking and she wasn't really in any conditions to compete, though this did give him an idea.
"hey caro, do you know what happens when a clock is hungry?"

Ben glared into the phone when Lewis kept trying to debate this with him. He furiously typed into the phone.
stop trying to gilt trip me. im not using my wish on sans and thats that. even if i helped him hed still be a jerk to me and he wouldnt say thank you or anything so why should i bother. dont text me anymore im blocking you.
With that sent, Ben went into the options for Lewis and blocked the contact. He then shoved the phone into his pocket and slumped against the dome, looking upset.

I had no idea Cole's previous experiences with demons were so terrible. Not only he'd seen them in action, but he'd become one as well! I couldn't imagine how awful that had been for him. Knowing and caring about someone who had turned into a demon was really bad, but having turned into a demon oneself was probably much, much worse. I wondered what kind of pain my p
I took a couple of seconds to put the stuffed animals as well as the small device Lewis had given me on the floor, and pulled him into a hug. No one deserved to go through that sort of punishment.
No one would go through that sort of punishment. Not with me around.
"It's okay," I assured him. "I'll make sure you're safe from that. In fact, as long as I'm here... I won't let anyone else go through this kind of thing. And as for the demon... I'll make sure to defeat him for good this time."
Library ~ To The Next One
"In any case, thank you, Miss Tairee," Fate said as the fifth librarian blurred out and vanished.
"'Not set in stone?'" Arf repeated, "What's that supposed to mean? Is this not going to give us a real answer?"
Fate shook her head. "I guess we're going to find out." At that, she turned and headed for the door. "I think we're done here for now. Let's go find somewhere to eat."
Arf nodded, and the two of them headed out of the library and back into the city, this time settling for simple walking.

I just want to help!
Cole blinked in some surprise when Ara put down her things and hugged him, seeming to more startled than anything as she promised to protect him, and everyone, from anything at all like the demon.
Come to think of it...
Ara might have noticed Cole's eyes go green for just a moment, as he looked around slightly, before he abruptly hugged her back, chuckling faintly.
"You...you don't have to worry about that demon...I can't find it. I...I think it's not here anymore. Before, I could...well. That's not important."
His eyes went back to normal as he stepped back, but it wouldn't be hard to see that something was still on his mind, a faint frown coming, but he then offered Ara another smile. "But...thank you, for the offer. And...I'm sorry I hurt you. It's...been difficult to try and learn so much so quickly, and to realize other people see things so very differently here."
He looked up, as though towards the roof of the library, tilting his head to one side, then looked around again, then back to her. "I'm sorry. I can...feel something else. I think I have to do something...and...you have somewhere else you want to be. This...event, today, yes? I will...leave you to it. Pardon me please."
That said, he started off, looking around a little, frowning a bit more deeply, as he was apparently listening to...something, eyes going green now and again as though tracking down something further off. He finally stopped walking though, on reaching one side of the library, twitching his mouth a moment, before letting out a soft sigh. There was...a lot to do.
To start with, how to get the attention of someone where he couldn't reach? Well, he knew how Iron Bull would do it back home.
Cole took a couple steps back, looked towards the roof of the library, cupped his hands around his mouth, and, in what would have been a laughingly good imitation of his giant Qunari friend to any who had heard him in a similar volume, abruptly bellowed out at the top of his lungs, "Ben, it's me, Cole! I need your help with something!"

Ben jumped when he heard the loud voice of... Cole? There Cole went, imitating peoples' voices again. Even though he didn't recognize this one. He walked over to the edge where he heard the voice and glanced down, to see Cole. He needed help. Ben sighed, but he knew he should. A hero did help people in need after all. He just hoped that Cole didn't try anything to get him to help ans, because there was no way he would do that right now. He fiddled with the watch, turning it to Stinkfly and pressing the button. The area was bathed in green light, a green flash lighting up from the roof, and Stinkfly flew down to greet Cole.
He landed beside the spirit. "What do you need?" he asked, sounding exhausted, but standing there to help Cole regardless.

Cole started to open his mouth as though to say something, but then stopped, tilting his head to one side. "...are you all right? You sound very tired...was...is this not a good time? Oh...I'm sorry, the...competition, you're probably in that, aren't you? I-I'm sorry...should I leave you be? This...I don't want to be in your way..."
Ben didn't want to talk anymore and simply hung up. In hindsight, Rex should have asked for his location before proposing a challenge.
"Hey, girls, I'm going to take a walk outside. I don't know when I will be back. So, have fun I guess" he said, walking to the door
He stepped outside when he spotted Ben as the stinky guy.
"Oh. Well, that was easy. Are we doing this or not?" and Cole was there too "Hey, Cole"

Stinkfly blinked a few times in confusion. He was tired, bt he did want to win that contest. Did he? The events of the last while had been pretty draining on him, did he honestly want to keep going on with it? "No, I'm okay, what did you need?" he asked. "Honestly I'm starting to get tired of this whole contest thing. It's making everyone go nuts about stupid stuff," he admitted.
At that moment Rex showed up and Stinkfly glared at him. "No!" he exclaimed. "I'm not accepting any challenge from you! You think my wish is stupid, and I'm not gonna use it to save some jerkface liar who keeps trying to break up the City Knights cause he likes Caro more than the group of racists he's supposed to be hanging out with!" His eyes narrowed. "You'd better give me a good reason for helping him. Besides 'oh, his world is in danger, aren't you supposed to be the hero?' Cause news flash, Rex, there's a lot of people in this city who more deserve a wish being used on them than wasting it on someone who isn't gonna be grateful about it anyway!"

Ben refused to accept any challenges from Rex. He wasn't going to risk losing his points because of Sans since there was no reason they had to help him over anyone else.
"What, you think I don't know that? Have you ever heard of my world? There are tons of EVOs I can't cure. What about the people they kill? Or their families? You think I wouldn't wish for them to have a normal life? For me to have a normal life?"
He stopped himself, this wasn't the time for a rant. He needed to make it clear why saving this world was important.
"Well, I won't. Because anything beats a dead world. And don't put words in my mouth. I'm not doing this for Sans. At least not just for him, he is a bit complicated, after all. Dude really needs to get in touch with his emotions. I'm doing this because there is an entire world of people like him that died. Every man, woman, and child or whatever their equivalent is, was murdered"

Joining the circle, Sora says, "Hey Ben, I was looking for you to talk to you about something but I see your busy here." At that, he looks between both Rex and Cole and tells them, "Hi, I'm Sora. I just got here! What are you talking to Ben about?"

Cole looked as though he had something further to say, before Rex more or less barged into the situation, demanding that Ben challenge him. The two argued for a second about Sans's world, namely that Ben was refusing to use a wish for it and Rex was insisting that he should. Someone else came up, introducing himself as Sora, but he didn't seem to be part of the problem right now.
Before things could get any further, Cole moved, setting down his bunny carefully on the ground, then stepping between Rex and Ben, looking Rex right in the eyes with what could only be described as a blank, unimpressed expression.
"Rex. First of all, Ben and I were having a conversation," he said, in a very slow, measuredly calm voice. "I had something I wanted to talk to him about, that I haven't talked to anyone about yet, and you interrupted us. I do not appreciate that."
He then moved a hand...very slowly, very deliberately, setting it on Rex's shoulder, in what might have been a friendly gesture at any other time, but with that same weirdly empty expression, it probably came off anything but. "Second, even if I agree that I think Sans's world needs to be saved, the person who wins this competition gets to choose their wish. Even if I don't agree with what Ben is saying, or feeling, so far as Sans right now, he has the right to feel that way, and if he wins the competition, he has the right to choose whatever he wants to wish for."
The other hand, equally slow and measured, rested on Rex's other shoulder, Cole still just staring him right in the eyes. "I wanted to talk to him, not pressure him. I wanted to calm him down from the pain he is feeling, and then to find out a way to help him, first and foremost, to choose what would be best overall, not simply out of motivation of blind emotions. Of course I would like it if he helped Sans. Sans has been good to me, but I can understand others have not seen that. And if after I spoke with him...spoke with him, not yelled at him, if then he still truly didn't feel that saving Sans's world was the best option, then so be it. I would respect that. It is his decision. But this...what you're doing...what I have sensed many of you doing in the last few minutes...yelling, and screaming, and bullying someone, to try and change their mind, will do nothing."
There may have been the slightest bit of a flinch in Cole's expression, almost a frown coming through before being carefully removed back to the calm blank again.
"I am asking you as nicely as I can, Rex. If you want to achieve your wish, then do what you can to win. But Ben has already told you no. And so you will respect that, or you will have to deal with me. And you have much, much more to lose than I do."
Planet destroying power? Huh. The relics in his world would be equal to trinkets compared to these Lost Logia. But then drama hit, causing Sans to vanish with Caro and Lewis scolding Thomas. Plague Knight immediately walked away from the rising conflict and planned to try to get to teh Library, and then to Silanea.
.....but then noticed the batting contest between Sylvia and Lucas. It was almost over, so he decided to stay and watch....
DAMMIT MARK, STOP HOTTING HELPY!!
Streets - No time for drama
Caro simply nodded and was content enough to let Sans take her wherever it was that they were going, if they were going somewhere at all and not just wandering about, which was just as fine.
Now that she slightly calmer able to notice her surroundings a bit, she did register the new message, unfortunately along with the previous one. She didn't want to be sweep into all that again, but she didn't want to outright ignore Lewis and making needlessly worried ...
As such, taking an even slower pace, she texted out as quick as could:
Sans' attempt to cheer up with a joke was well timed. He was rewarded with a slight look of intrigue. She could sense a pun coming, though she didn't quite yet have the presence of mind to guess what ...
She then simply said, "No ... What?"

He could only hope this could help a little bit, otherwise he wasn't really sure what to do and he didn't want to be unable to help Caro as well as Silanea before.

Welp, Ben needs some talking and Sora was happy to give it! He walked to the changed Ben and said, "Hey Ben, I see...........wow! What smells!?" Sora's eye's watered from the smell. "It smells like a whole bag of meat has been sitting outside. In a landfill." Sora pinched his nose and, with his voice sounding like what happens when you pinched your nose, tells Ben,
"So, there's a wish huh? And some people want you to use it on saving Sans world? Do you want to talk about it? Look, I'll just give my input and say that you should save Sans world but I don't know what "save" would mean for his world nor do I know what you want to wish. But I figure that you could some help figuring it out. Like I said earlier, I have experience with protecting worlds. Maybe I could give you advice on what you sound do? Trust me, I'm not going to force you to do anything. The heart wills what it wills. There was a point that would throw away two people I care about if that meant getting back my two lost friends. So I know about wanting something so hard that you can't even consider anything else. Just consider listening to someone Ben. The heart is weak by itself but It can do great things when with others."
At that, Sora gave a friendly smile at Ben. The kid didn't need everyone ripping and tearing at him for his wish. He needed a clear mind. A clear heart.

Cole seemed to supress all emotion on his face but it was clear that he wasn't happy with Rex's attitude. He explained his veiwpoint, that no one could force someone else to wish for something they didn't want but what especially called the teen's attention was that part about having things to lose.
"I'm not really sure what that's supposed to mean" he said, taking off Cole's hands from his shoulders "but good luck trying to find something in my head. I've got nothing to hide"
After all that, Rex felt his efforts were futile. Sans didn't exactly agree with him wishing for his world back, and Ben was going to wish for a building for his dumb superhero team. Why did he even bother?
"So, that's it, then? Whatever, I already have enough on my plate. I don't need to worry about a world I know nothing about. Besides, Caro is going to win anyway. I'm out"
While this was going on, a spiky-haired kid showed up. He knew about Ben and was curious to know the nature of the wish they were discussing. Apparently he shared Cole's opinion and wasn't going to force Ben to do anything. Having already decided to leave and not being in the mood to talk with new people right now, Rex decided to walk away.
"Have fun with the scarecrow" he told Sora before heading to the library.

Stinkfly looked confused and relieved as Cole and Sora simultaneously came to his defense. He had thought Cole would be mad at him, but he was glad the spirit was coming to his side. Sora had been friendly since he got here... though he wasn't at all pleased about the idea of using his wish to save Sans' world. Stinkfly frowned, crossing his arms.
"Guys, seriously," he stated, sounding frustrated. "I'll use my wish to save Sans' world if I feel like it. And right now I don't feel like it. Gimme some more time and I might, but you guys keep jumping down my throat. If Sans wants me to, and if Sans apologizes for the things he said... I'll do it," Ben stated, knowing full well that Sans would never agree to such a thing. Sans hated him anyway. "But as it stands, I'll use the wish the way I want to use it. And if Caro wins, and she wants to use the wish on Sans, she can, that's not my decision."
Stinkfly then looked towards Cole. "Now, you said you wanted to talk to me about something? Did you wanna talk to me in private?" he asked.

Cole didn't resist Rex removing his hands, but didn't move from where he was standing, just watching Rex in silence. When Rex apparently just washed his hands of the entire situation and leave, Cole still kept his eyes on the teen, not saying anything when Rex tossed a seeming retort over his shoulder to Sora on the way.
Cole had heard plenty of those sorts of insults in his existence to know who "the scarecrow" was.
Behind him, Ben spoke up, and the frustration in both his mind and his voice was clear enough to Cole as he laid out how he felt. Nothing that Cole didn't already know from seeing inside his mind, really.
When Ben asked him if he had wanted to discuss something in private, Cole didn't answer for a long moment, still looking in the direction that Rex had gone. Finally, he shook his head, turning around to retrieve the yellow bunny he had set down previously.
"Yes. But I wanted to talk to you in a way that you would calm down, that you could feel better, and then I wanted to talk to you about things. Talk, not order, or yell. I would like to change your mind about Sans, and Sans's mind about you, but...but I can see that is never going to happen. You both carry too many wounds from your pasts and too many wounds from this city."
He turned to look at the two of them, rather grim-faced. "I told Lewis this morning that the Writer wanted this. That this contest was a farce, designed to have us at each other's throats, to stir up the hate between us. I should have told more people, told them not to let it happen, but...who would have believed me?"
Cole looked down at the rabbit, then just turned to start to walk away. "Do what you feel is the right thing, Ben. No one else can tell you what that is. And if you win, then...then I will save Sans's world myself. That is what I think is right. I don't want you to agree with me, I just want you to do what you feel is right, even if that isn't what I or anyone else might want."
He didn't really seem to have anything else to say, starting to wander off away from the side of the building, towards the street.
THE SLORG!
"Yeah, it's instructions on running a tabletop role playing game. You sit around with some friends and imagine up some adventures using dice rolling and other stuff, basically" the second Fanboy said to Curly, that being the best explanation he could come up with at the moment. He flipped through the book and found the bit on Silanea herself. He read through it, then thought for a moment before looking horrified. "Oh no. Oh no" he muttered to himself.
Whatever point the first Fanboy had about Curly being a robot had to go on the back burner, as he turned to his friend. "What is it?" the first Fanboy asked.
"Silanea isn't just anyone; she's some kind of... Plot hook for the player characters! Everyone she knows was probably killed by a pack of murder hobos!" the second Fanboy explained to him.
The other fanboy seemed to understand this terminology, as he himself quickly looked horrified. "Oh, God, no wonder she's so messed up" the first Fanboy muttered, looking like he was remembering something from his own past.
Meanwhile, Miss Tairee 1 gave Garrett a simple nod, then turned to Sora as he approached. "Ben? Last I knew he was... Oh, never mind" Miss Tairee 1 said, still neutrally, then gave a shrug as Sora left outside to where a group was gathering around Ben. She looked out towards the scene with a somewhat worried expression.
The Annas noticed Rex coming back inside so quickly, and Anna-Maria looked over with a raised eyebrow. "Back already?" Anna-Maria asked him.
Thomas was looking downright furious now. "Oh, so I'm not allowed to talk bad about someone's friend while people are around, but Sans is!? You bloody hypocrite!" Thomas said fiercely to Lewis. He looked like he was probably about to continue, but then glanced upwards slightly and took a step back.
That and a quick flap of wings above him was all the warning Lewis got before a torrent of water came down onto him from above, briefly extinguishing all his fire and killing his phone. Swishee the pelliper then landed next to Thomas and turned around to face Lewis, and honked once at him. "Hey! Leave my friend alone, skeleton!" Louie yelled down at Lewis from the front of the stands, as Ace the blaziken hopped over the railing and landed next to Lewis, quickly taking up a combat ready fighting stance.

As soon as she had heard the commotion outside, Eve had gotten up to check it out. She briefly thought that she needed to step in, when Rex seemed to threaten Cole, but it seems to have resolved itself. What she had heard was interesting. Arguements over who had it worse. Over dead worlds and dying ones.
Then Rex stormed away and back towards her like a five-year old having a temper tantrum.
"You're an idiot."

Stinkfly seemed most interested in Cole's statement that the competition was just a way for the Writer to turn everyone against each other. Of course.
Of course.
That would be something the Writer would do. The gears began to turn inside his head, and he got to thinking. There had to be some kind of statement he could make to the people of the City, to get them to understand what was going on.
"I've got an idea. I'll be at the stadium if you need me," Ben told Cole, then lifted off and started flying towards the stadium to enact his plan.

Sora said goodbye, even hugging Lily's arm. "Be good, dearie," she told him as he left. It was nice to meet so many sweet children. No one back in Jacobstown could compare to the nice humans in the city. How would she get back to Jacobstown?
Lily started knitting again to shake that thought off. She was having a good day, she didn't need to confuse herself more. She was so caught up in her project that she didn't notice the spectator outside the window. She started to hum tunelessly, which was loud enough to be heard outside the building.
I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."
