Colosseum- Mafia

Caboose glanced at Eight-Four for a moment when he started calling out the children for being overly emotional about this. Spartans were serious, huh? What the guy was saying didn't sound right to him. But when Sir Redring repeated the point in a nicer way it made sense.

"Hey, Lewis isn't that bad Rex!" Caboose exclaimed. "He's cool, and he looks sort of like Fred which is also neat." Honestly, it was pretty arbitrary who Caboose liked, considering that his best friend constantly berated him at every opportunity. But a stamp of approval from the soldier felt like it meant something in the soldier's own opinion.

And Rex's question was also not that good. It didn't even make sense! "Hey, wait a second! That was not a week ago, that was only four days!" he pointed out, as if he had stumbled onto something glaring instead of misinterpreting a normal approximation. "What do you have to say for yourself?!" He sounded very confident in this nonsense.

Mafia Game, Arena

"...right..." At least they had that. Over time, people began discussing the situation at hand. Caboose asked her a simple question. "Oh... well, that would be blue." It was probably a no-brainer, really, and Two didn't see how that would help figure out the fakes. Could Caboose himself be a fake, trying to throw her off?

Rex had some issues with spider silk; largely understandably so. "S-sorry. I was startled." Two replied sheepishly. Louie meanwhile was voting to get Lewis out of the game. This, and Rex's previous idea brought something of her own to the bluenette's mind. What if...? "...actually, I think people like Rex - with a rotten reputation in the City - are not likely to be fakes. A lot of us would try to vote them out based on emotion and our impressions of them, while disregarding that this is something that the fakes would want." She pointed out with a frown.

"Furthermore, joining in on such a witch hunt allows them to make it look natural, so..." Looking between the people present, Two set her eyes on Rex and Brother Marcus. "I don't think you two are fakes." But then again, Caboose pointed out something crucial. It was only four-five days since they met Rex's brother. "Hmmmh... we really don't have much to go with..."

Colosseum Arena, Phantom Thief Outfit —- Taking Risks

"It's alright, but try not to reveal any more specific information unless you have to," Makoto said to Rex. Rex's question had less of an expected effect, as most of the people that were vocal about him weren't even present. They'd need different questions then... In an effort to prove his innocence, Morty revealed some... divisive information from yesterday. Hearing that Lewis tried to kill someone, Louie immediately decided to vote him out. It did seem...hasty though, basing such a decision off of emotions and not logic. Did it matter if someone had done something terrible if they were also real? They weren't trying to vote bad people out, just the fakes. Sir Redring was right about trying to keep a sort of order though.

"Hey, we really should try to make more levelheaded choices, time limit or not!" Makoto said, before relenting slightly. "But...at this point of the challenge, we really do need information, and maybe voting at least one person out fast will reveal something we can use for the next round of votes. For the record, I don't think that Lewis was replaced. I don't think that Rex or Rean are fake either, but that's just a feeling."

At the moment, Thomas and Louie seemed like safe bets on being "real" too. It'd be silly for a clone to draw so much attention to himself this early, right? That also ruled out the people that seemed to have a lot of negative attention connected to them. People were more aware of their presence, and so they'd be scrutinized more. Ben was now voting for John since he also advocated the idea of voting faster. Rex asked a more specific question about a call he made on Day 20, and Rean answered it immediately. She nodded, agreeing with his answer, before Caboose claimed that Rex's less that specific usage of the word "week" was suspicious. It was a ridiculous accusation, and she sighed.

"...Okay, I'll throw in a vote just for the sake of doing so. I pick Louie. I want to test what the clones do and don't know about us." she turned to look at Rex again. "And, um, just to make it fair, I guess I should ask you a question to confirm that you're not lying. What's my sister's name?"

lewis?, colosseum, why you gotta be so defeatist, brain

"Who the hell is Fred?"

What, no, why was I getting distracted by a probably irrelevant detail like this. I lightly slapped myself and shrugged at the Thomas. "Was the first really specific thing I thought of. Sorry..."

Louie...for wanting to weed out the less responsible non-clones, he certainly was being irresponsible for a non-clone. Though, I supposed that was the expected reaction when you pointed a crossbow at someone barely the other day, curse my latent paranoia. That's just how it was gonna be...

...But I've fought with him. I know he can put this down, at least for a few moments, if people's lives are at stake, and given the crowd this had attracted there probably were. It felt off that he wouldn't do that now...was the threat really enough to compromise that bit of integrity?

What was I on about, self-preservation could undermine any value. I knew this...besides, I kinda was unreliable, wasn't I.

"I guess that's a fair point..." I stared at the floor, a hand shaking. "But...is it, really more important than the sheer numbers? Especially since someone or another here probably has a planet to save or something..."

.........................

Despite what I'd already laid out for myself, I couldn't shake the feeling he was, off somehow. But...no. Gut instinct was awful, at least when it was mine. I shouldn't just...

Makoto was going for him, though, but it seemed a shot in the dark on her part. At least, that's what she claimed. How did we know that was being authentic, though...? Think of something to test her on..."Hey, Makoto...what were we playing at the arcade the other day? And what was that thing I said about the character in that video game?"

Classical zone, challenge arena

"... Nobody else feels like introductions then?" Sir Redring said, almost sounding a bit disheartened for once. It didn't last too long though. "Well, there's plenty of us, so we should be thinking of different kinds of things the replacements might not know... Or... Hm..." the octopode trailed off, a couple tentacles idly twirling around each other as a sort of 'busy thinking' articulation.

Louie glanced to Ben, seeming to think for a moment, then looked at Tairee. "Hey, can we change our votes?" Louie asked her.

"Certainly, but only up until the point I mentioned before; you can't change your vote after that" Miss Tairee answered.

"Then, I'll change my vote to that guy, too. That'll be more effective than splitting our votes up, and I think Ben's got a point" Louie decided, pointing to John.

"The boy's are right; you did seem to be trying to start things" Eight Four commented, then pointed to John and added, "I'll put in mine for you, too."

"I didn't mean random; I meant not wasting time" John said, mildly annoyed. "Like it or not, we have a time limit; but fine, if you want to vote for me, it's better than not voting at all" he continued, folding his arms.

"Hyu seem to be takink it radder kasually for de guy most voted now. Are hyu tryink zum kind uf reverse psychology?" Hartwig pointed out, though he seemed to be half joking, especially given the snicker afterward.

Nearby Eight Four, Kelsey had her attention snatched by overhearing Lewis' question towards Makoto. "An arcade game? Who would remember much about an arcade game with everything that goes on in this city?" Kelsey asked, fairly rhetorically. "Those things are just a waste of time, anyway" she added in a dismissive tone.

Meanwhile, Two's statement got Brother Marcus to finally focus in on someone in particular rather than seeming to pay attention to them all at once; namely her, obviously. "You should be prepared for any of us to be a fake; do not dismiss anyone as a possibility" Brother Marcus told her in a very serious tone. "... I have my doubt that there was any purposeful decision on who was or was not fake... Can you answer that, librarian? Was there any reason for who was replaced, or was it simply random?" the space marine continued, turning his attention on Miss Tairee.

"Completely random" Miss Tairee said simply.

"Okay, okay, calm down, sheesh." Morty rolled his eyes. "Look, it happened yesterday. Obviously he wasn't a copycat at that point." He focussed and took a deep breath.

"Okay, so Lewis is probably himself, and I know I'm myself..."

"Samurai guy is right," pointed out Rick, leaning against a nearby wall and taking a quick shot. "We gotta *urp* grill one another. Morty, what did you turn into this morning?"

Yuna Yuki (Romarena) - Questionaire

"No, it's okay, don't worry..."

Neither Yuna nor the little cow now resting atop her head could exactly figure out what Genji had tried to do. One second he was introducing himself, then he called her a faker, then he got called out, then he took his accusation back and apologized. The whole ordeal left her wondering what had just happened.

...what were the odds that she was actually a fake and she did not know it? Was that how it worked? No, that probably wouldn't make sense, would it?

However, the octopus with the polite accent and fancy hatnote  made the very fair point that some of the people there were completely unknown to each other. So, being the nice person that she was, she couldn't not respond in kind.

"Right, for everyone that doesn't know me, my name is Yuna Yuki," the young girl introduced herself with a wave. "Nice to meet you all!"

As for how to get things going... there were a lot of things she could ask. Some of the people there probably knew a good number of things about her: her age, her powers, her friends; in fact, Caboose and Two were the two people in that arena that knew the most about her. Or at least were supposed to know the most about her.

But she wanted to try with someone else first. Just to test. Ideally someone who was currently not being asked something.

"Hmmm... okay, I know! So... hey, Silanea?" the heroic redhead called. "Do you remember where we met for the first time?"

Colosseum — Figuring things out by talking... for now

"I don't care. Lewis isn't important is what I'm getting at. I would vote him off if that didn't mean wasting my vote"

Caboose's reaction really sounded out of place, though. Did he even know Lewis all that much? He then tried to point out a flaw in Rex's own question, even after Rean and by extension, Makoto had already answered it correctly.

"Well, I was trying to see if any of the copies would take it literally and pretend the call happened seven days ago, but I guess I accidentally proved Caboose has a brain" he leaned over to Makoto. So far she was the only one he was one hundred percent sure was the real deal "Keep an eye on him" he whispered.

Two came to the conclusion that Rex could not be a fake. Simply because his awful reputation, as well as that of people like Marcus, was simply too much of liability for someone trying to stay hidden and not get kicked out immediately.

"Awesome, I'm in the same league as the supersoldier. Yay"

So far everyone had only thrown baseless accusations and half-assed attempts at catching a doppelganger with their hand in the cookie jar but nothing useful had come out of it. In an uncharacteristic move, Makoto vote for Louie out the blue, theorizing that it would at least get a reaction out of someone. Well, there was one, at least. That John guy was at the top of the list now. And now Makoto wanted to make sure Rex wasn't a copy. Too bad she asked about a detail he had trouble recalling.

"Your sister? Uh... dammit, I heard her name before in that show. To be fair you always call her Sis" he had sadly focused on other stuff that he considered more interestingnote  "Something with S... Sally—no—Sae! Yeah! Sae Niijima"

Colosseum Arena, Phantom Thief Outfit—- Suspicions

"Caboose might be suspicious, but it's difficult to tell because of his usual...demeanor," Makoto said quietly back to Rex. Though he stumbled for the correct name, Rex did answer the right one at the end. He even referenced the show he got to watch. That was difficult knowledge to make up. She smiled at him, happy he didn't completely fail and make himself look guilty. "I was getting a little worried there, but you're right, I do call her Sis most of the time." The debate on the merits of a random vote continued on.

"Hm, you're right that at least some people here are fighting for a greater goal than just being the winner," Makoto said, listening to Two's and Lewis's logic. "I don't particularly like the idea of voting off emotion when that could throw someone innocent under the metaphorical bus later. It's extremely easy for a clone to ride that kind of momentum and look legitimate." Lewis then decided to ask her a question about an arcade game they'd played, and she tilted her head slightly. Why would he word it like that?

"You know, that's still a fairly vague pair of questions," she said, her eyes narrowing as she studied his expression. Kelsey chimed in to say how small and possibly unremarkable of a detail that was, and Makoto brought a hand to her chin, looking away from Lewis. "Compared to what happened yesterday, asking about the name of a game I was barely familiar with seems like an odd choice. And how do I know you won't just refute my answer and claim I'm a fake?" She locked eyes with him, more determined now. "Do we have any actual witnesses here to back up the truth of what we did at the arcade besides you and me?" Makoto crossed her arms. "Maybe you're not quite as real as I thought you were, and these fakes know much more about what we've done here than I assumed."

Classical zone, the challenge arena

Silanea had been staying quiet and trying to be observant while sticking near Rex, until Yuna spoke up to her. Silanea looked over, and was clearly in thought for a moment. "Well... I'm not sure if we ever ran into each other briefly before it, but I'm pretty sure the first time we really interacted was when you joined the others going in... My mind" Silanea said, with a somewhat awkward pause at the end. "It still feels a bit weird to say it like that" the lamia then muttered.

Makoto brought up a counterpoint against Lewis, and it was Trent to speak up on that. "She's got a point. If we ask anything that only the person asking and the person answering would know the answer to, then we only have the word of the person who's asking that the answer is true or not. It would be easy for the fakes to use this and just turn this all into one person's word against another's" Trent said aloud.

"Or we can stop trying to figure out by that way, and figure out something else that sets the fakes apart" Thomas commented, who had in the meantime taken out his wand and was apparently experimenting with some spells. "Unfortunately, if there's some way for me to tell who's fake and who isn't with magic, I'm not finding-" the wizard was going on, until interrupted by Louie.

"Smell! Like I said earlier!" Louie exclaimed, then grabbed two of his pokeballs and tossed them forward, releasing Ace the blaziken and Pecha the trapinch onto the field. "Alright Ace, Pecha, you two probably have the best noses in the team! I want you to go around and sniff everyone, and tell me if anyone smells like they aren't a normal person, okay?" the trainer instructed the two pokemon with some excitement.

Though they seemed a bit perplexed by the scenario, the two pokemon nonetheless complied, and went around sniffing. Eventually, they singled out Eight Four, Kelsey, Caboose, and Brother Marcus. "Ah ha! So you four are the fakes!" Louie accused them, pointing dramatically.

"... Wow, the four people covered head to toe in armor smell different than other people. What a surprise" Kelsey said with sarcastic mockery.

"But I- It-... Well, it was a better idea than anybody else was suggesting" Louie said in a defensive tone, folding his arms and turning away.

lewis?, colosseum, i'm sure this won't be incriminating

Well...he backed off me, at least, though picking some other dude because other people were random picking the same wasn't a huge improvement. Not that randoming wasn't a viable round 1 strat in these, but.

Really, this wasn't much better in general, because basically everyone I knew here had some legitimate reason to be mad at me. (Except Caboose, anyway, because Caboose.)

I flinched, making a pathetic whimpering noise. For a moment I thought to just clarify, but had it pointed out that it wasn't helpful to ask things only two people would know anyway. "..................." What was I doing, I had nothing to bring to this, I couldn't read people and I fucked up anything this big. I knew she meant shooting that piece of shit, I could pick up on that much...why did politics sucking have to be a universal constant? It wasn't fair...

The colosseum, doppelganger challenge

Ben glanced over as Genji addressed him.

"Didn't you show me your sword thing? And you were wearing red, I think. Red-orange. Whatever it was it looked cool," Ben pointed out. He then looked at Louie curiously as he started to implicate first Lewis (that was Lewis? Weird, Ben thought he was a ghost) and then the random soldier dude that Ben voted for.

On the one hand, Louie was being pretty disjointed, but Ben knew that Louie tended to wear his emotions on his sleeves just like he did, so it kind of checked out. Ben shook his head.

"C'mon, Louie, we need to think about this. We need more clues. After we get rid of that soldier dude we need to figure things out. I like the idea of questions only the real people would know the answer to." He sighed, looking around. "Problem is, there aren't a lot of people here who were around really long ago. The Writer took most of my old friends away."

He thought for a moment, turning towards Rex and crossing his arms. "Hey, Rex. You were there for this. What happened to me the first time we fought Brother Marcus?"

The Coliseum | Mafia Game

Genji listened to Ben's answer, he answered it correctly, now Hercules needs to confirm it. If only two people know what happened the accusation will turn a game where it's the word of the accuser against the word of the accused.

"You are correct. Hercules, can you please confirm that's what happened?" He asked the Greek hero.

Genji glanced at Louie, the kid was throwing too many accusations around. That is suspicious, he also disliked some of the people present. That will only complicate the investigations. He should be the next one to be questioned. Just to be sure.

Coliseum, Doppelganger Challenge

Hercules was trying so hard to think of what to ask that might determine who was real and who was an imposter but so far nothing had come to mind. Genji addressed Hercules to make sure Ben’s answer was genuine or not as he asked him a question, which turned out to be what had Genji showed Ben on the way to the Coliseum. The latter then answered that it was his sword fighting abilities was what Genji showed him earlier.

“Yeah I definitely can vouch for Ben’s sake because I was with you two when that happened and it was just before the challenge started I believe. And I must say your demonstration? That was pretty good I must say you impressed the both of us there.” Herc said confirming Ben’s statement as well as complimenting Genji on his skills alone.

Colosseum — Know your enemy

Makoto conceded that she rarely used her sister's name and confirmed Rex had gotten it correctly. He sighed. That was close.

"You could have asked me what we did the last couple of days, I'm not very good with names" Rex sounded like all the air in his lungs had escaped, but he was relieved he had managed to prove his innocence in spite of that.

Lewis decided to step in and ask Makoto a few questions, like she hadn't already proven she was real. It was a little pathetic that his attitude could easily be explained away as him being an asshole and not part of the doppelganger group. Interestingly, he brought up their little interaction during the bodyswap day, the same day that had the fake copies as the day bosses. Makoto wasn't happy with answering because it was a vague question—that ignored the more important aspects of their—no other witnesses could prove either of them was telling the truth.

"Let's take it easy, I think we are not going to get anywhere like this. We need an actual plan. We could keep asking each other questions all day but the only thing we know right now is that the copies want to win but probably not because of the same reason" he theorized "So, what did you guys plan on doing with your wish?"

Ben still thought the question approach was a good idea and continued with Rex. The teen simply looked back at him with mild disdain. The last thing he needed right now was for him to jump the gun and start accusing him of being a copy or simply disliking his attitude enough to throw a vote at him anyway. But whatever, this was day one information, it couldn't be faked that easily.

"Man, that happened a while ago. I think you got shot by Legion? And I'm pretty sure you were that black slime back then"

Colosseum- Caboose

"You passed the test," Caboose told Two with a sort of self-satisfied tone when she answered blue. Working off his own logic again. "I can trust you." If it made sense to him than that had to be good enough.

Somehow Lewis didn't know who Fred Jones was! That should have been common knowledge, Scooby Doo was large. "Fred Jones! Leader of Mystery Inc!" he exclaimed, perhaps a bit too enthusiastically. This was one of the few fandoms that Caboose was actually involved in at all. "He, like, goes around with his friends in their van looking for ghosts and goblins and stuff like that, but they don't really find any that much." Except for in certain circumstances, but going into the deep lore would take longer than the soldier's attention span would be expected to hold. "You kind of look like him, I think!"

But that was as far as it went, it looked like. "You don't really act like him, though..." he added. "Fred always would set up traps and look for ways to find liars. They wouldn't always work so well, but he did it anyways. He would be trying instead of being upset just because he made a mistake. And that's something I always liked, y'know?" Seemed like the idiot was done with his little description.

Rex paid him a nice compliment, though! "Yeah, my best friend was surprised too when Doc said I had to have a brain. He's such a kidder!" the red soldier replied simply, not catching the insulting intent.

He patted the pokemon that had singled him out affectionately. "Your pets are really neat!" Caboose called out to Louie.

"Excuse me?" a familiar mechanical voice spoke up from his gun, somehow conveying a sense of balking despite the monotone.

"Well not as neat as you, Freckles... But still, very neat!" the soldier backpedaled. It then dawned on him that he apparently smelled weird. He tried to sniff his armpit... through the visor. Didn't seem to dawn on him that he wouldn't be able to smell through it. "I don't stink," he said petulantly, almost like a child.

Colosseum Arena, Phantom Thief Outfit—- No Objections?

“...Nothing to defend yourself with, Lewis?” Makoto asked, after waiting for a response. “An interesting reaction from a supposedly innocent person.” Thomas was trying to use his wand to find a way to differentiate the fake people from the real ones, but Louie decided to try using scents. He summoned two of his animal like creatures to sniff the crowd, singling out 4 people. They all happened to be wearing armor though, which might have ruined the integrity of the test.

“So smell doesn't seem good enough to cut it either…” she mumbled, taking note of its effectiveness. Rex was taking a slightly different approach on what to ask people, deciding that a clone might not know why the real person was competing for the wish. It was a smart plan, but still…

“The wish wasn't going to be for me, I'm fighting so someone else can use it,” Makoto answered. “I think I can solve my own problems without it.” Ben questioned Rex about an event she hadn't heard of before, but he didn't hesitate much before answering it. It must've been from before she arrived in the city...

Ben raised an eyebrow as Rex answered him correctly. Ben nodded slightly and then glanced at the others. "That was right," Ben said simply. "I'm pretty sure Rex is real. Unless the fake has some really old and random info. And yeah, I was Upgrade at the time," he explained.

He sighed and crossed his arms, looking around. "This whole thing is stupid, let's just get to the kicking butt already so we can save Yuna's world. All this is doing is making us too mad at each other to fight what's gonna come up."

Classical zone, challenge arena

"I can confirm the boy trying to take over my armor as some black and green... Thing" Brother Marcus said, his tone fairly dry. "From my memory, we were in the midst of the battle, then I was suddenly somewhere else. I suppose this is when we were shot by that 'Legion' you speak of" the space marine added.

"Hey uh, the three of us should check each other, right?" Blue thought out loud, turning to John and Hartwig. "Okay, how about... What did we have for breakfast this morning?" the terrarian asked the other two Home Sweet Home members.

"We didn't. We spent all morning dealing with those angry people, and it was already past lunch time when we finally got to eat" John said, sounding a bit still frustrated about that.

"Actually Hy schnuck an orange real qvick before dat mess" Hartwig said, then snickered a bit.

"You did? Well, heh, that's right" Blue said, with a short laugh, then thought. "Okay, and so you two know I'm legit: When we did finally eat, Gerard had made us what he called 'French Toast'" the terrarian added.

"Yeah, and it was delicious" John stated, nodding.

"Alright, the three of us can vouch for each other!" Blue announced, turning to face the rest of the challengers and raising a hand. "You boys still feel like voting for John?" the terrarian then questioned towards the City Knights group.

"I dunno... I’m with Ben; I wish we could just get to the fighting already" Louie said.

"Boys, I don’t know if you’ve caught on yet, but, we don’t really have a choice" Trent said, shaking his head. "It doesn’t matter how much you want to fight, we have to do this first” the man continued.

He was silent for a bit of thought after that. "... Look, since I get the feeling you guys don’t really trust me, and you can barely vouch for me as it is, why don’t we just vote me off; you’re better safe than sorry in this case" Trent then told them, and turned to Miss Tairee. "I'm gonna vote for myself, if that’s allowed" he announced.

"Certainly" Miss Tairee said simply.

Arena

The main point that Two brought from all this listening and debating was they were all in the dark. Perhaps the best idea for now was to just vote at random amongst the prime suspects and see where the majority is? The doppelganger(s) was bound to be in that group, she reasoned.

"I'm sorry, but I'm a little hesitant to believe that." Two shook her head at Miss Tairee's confirmation that the chosen fakes were random. Still, Brother Marcus was nothing if not serious about the situation. "Though I suppose for now that's all we have going for us..." Her shoulders slumped slightly in dejection before she shook her head. "U-um, sorry for calling your reputation rotten, Rex." She apologized as an afterthought.

Louie had an idea, using his pokemons to try and determine if any of the people present smelled differently. The plan, unfortunately, encountered a hurdle right out of the starting gate; the people who smelled differently simply wore full armor. Something did get Two's attention however: Ben's unusually level-headed approach to the matter. Or maybe not, since the very next thing he said was an exasperated grouse about how he didn't want to solve mental puzzles.

Rean meanwhile asked her a question. "You were cold, weren't you? I think I gave you my scarf then." She smiled, adjusting the blue piece of fabric on her neck. This Trent seemed to be trying to vote himself out of all people, but unlike Lewis who was more resigned and tired, this one seemed pretty confident about it. Was he a fake trying to get people not to vote for him? "...very well. I'll trust your judgment, sir. Miss Tairee, I shall be voting for sir Trent here." She said, though her suspicious look didn't leave her face as she examined the person in question for suspicious behavior.

There was still time to change her vote if something else were to pop up, hopefully.

Colosseum- Caboose

"Um, no?" Caboose replied to Lewis, not understanding what he meant. "He was like the center of things and knew what to do. There's nothing bad about trying again and again no matter how often it doesn't work." He strolled over to the lump of depression and uselessness that was Lewis. He poked a hard armored finger into the human's cheek. "If you think it is stupid to not give up... Then you are stupid!" Caboose calling someone stupid. Truly the end of days was upon us.

Having said his probably ineffective piece, the dolt walked back over to Two. Jumping on a bandwagon was all that Caboose would really know how to do here. His attempts to weed people out had proven a complete lack of utility here. The soldier stared at Trent for a bit, his thoughts inscrutable behind the visor. If he was saying he should be voted out... he was probably bad, right? "I'll... um... I'll vote for Arsenal too?" He voted, mispronouncing the last name pretty badly.

Colosseum — A shot in the dark

Everything seemed to check out in the wish department. The people that had answered explained their motivation, with most of them wanting to help Yuna out. Including Lewis, surprisingly enough, who still tried to pretend Makoto wasn't talking to him.

"I think he's just that prideful. And dumb"

That didn't clear things up but it was better than nothing. At least a few more people clearly hadn't been replaced. And considering things like smell weren't reliable methods to literally sniff out the copies, that's all they really had to work with. This confusion caused some Trent guy to start voting for himself, justifying it by saying people didn't fully trust him yet. It was a very odd move but admittedly one Rex himself had considered—maybe it would throw off whatever plan the doppelgangers had. But not knowing who he was made Rex feel Trent was just scheming something. The only reason he would risk losing the wish would be if there was someone else that would wish the same thing for him. There was no obvious evidence of that which left very few possibilities left. Maybe he was a copy and calling attention to himself... away from his partner.

"Alright, I guess we have to vote soon or we might as well throw our votes away" Rex thought aloud "I'm voting for Kelsey"
