CoLC crossover RP, main thread

Wells looked over, attention drawn by one of the figures crossing from one side of the cavern to another. "Huh? Hey, you there" Wells said towards Caboose. "Your armor looks like the same design as one of my men" the lieutenant added simply.

Silanea spared a brief glance aside at that, but mostly kept her attention towards Makoto. "Oh, you haven't? I see" Silanea said, disappointed. "I'll have to keep looking for him, if he's still here in the city" the lamia explained, now turning her attention towards Wells.

"We haven't seen any sign of him either" Wells told her preemptively.

Meanwhile, Swishee gave a concerned honk. Nothing of important meaning to most of the people there, but to Metagross and Ursaring, it was more understandable as a caution, a warning of potential danger. She was still staring intently at one of the patches of yellow crystals.

The woman stepped back, frowning in a slight cringe. "My you're a bit of a whiner. Well I can't stick around here; as long as you're going to stay friendly then you can come with" the woman said, starting to move down the tunnel again.

Salamence made a brief noise of protest at the woman's judgement, but perked up slightly when she offered to let him join along. More eyes meant it'd be easier to find Riley. So, he silently agreed, letting her choose the path.

Just as their conversation was finishing up, a girl talked to Metagross with slight familiarity. Ursaring nodded and almost placed a paw on its head before remembering the gunk covering it.

Next, another Pokemon spoke up, giving the group a warning that went unnoticed. Not by Ursaring, of course, he told Metagross to stay close and they went over to Swishee to see what was causing the concern.

Ben looked back to see if Bergree could get in. He looked down at his watch. It must have turned green while he was in the middle of his talk with the others. Then he looked back up.

"What's the hold up?" Ben asked, seeing Bergree was too big. It seemed the door wasn't opening wide enough for him to get in before the goblins showed up. "Oh for the love of— step back!" he told the others, gesturing to move the ones who were inside deeper into the tunnel and to move those near the door away from it (including Hercules if he was still trying to open the door).

He readied the Omnitrix, cycling through it and slamming his hand onto the watch. With a flash of green light, Heatblast was standing where Ben once was. Then, if everyone was moved safely out of the way, he fired a jet of flame with his fingers to try and cut a large hole through the door.

If this didn't work, he would turn around and look back towards the goblins, ready to fight if they became aggressive.

Large Cavern to Tunnels-Separating the Group

"I''ll, Uh, look for him as well," Makoto said to Silanea. "He was around last night though, so I don't think he just disappeared." She hadn't really considered the idea of Rex disappearing from the City entirely though. Was that a thing that happened?

Makoto had no idea what Morty was trying to hint at, not having much experience with the sci-fi genre. The fact that the bunker was the only building she'd seen so far was suspicious, but maybe there were supplies hidden inside.

"Maybe it's dangerous, but...that's up to them if they want to open it," Makoto said as Lewis put the little cloth creature into a ball. She led the group of three back into the tunnels, letting Anat drive ahead to check the corners. She kept the flashlight in her own hands as the motorcycle moved in the dark. This felt a little safer than walking blindly into another fight. "I'm still not really sure why you think I'm any safer to be around than anyone else in the City," she said as Anat drove out of view for a few seconds. There was a revving sound, and then what sounded like a small explosion that went off, lighting up the darkness with a burst of multicolored energy. Makoto's eyes widened as she recognized the attack based on Anat's reaction. Psychokinesis spells.

"You guys might want to get ready!" she said, drawing her revolver again. Anat sped back around the corner, being chased by a pair of ethereal, long haired pale women. [1]◊ They floated slightly above the ground, and one of them was charging up more of the brightly colored mix of cyan, magenta, and yellow energy for a spell. The other was looking at the three of them with what could be called either longing or a creepy hunger. "They're called Leanan Sidhe. They attack with psychokinetic blasts, and they're weak to fire. And I don't have a counter for that." If she could just get a couple of spells off, she was fairly sure she could defeat them though.

"I dunno, the place just rings a lot of alarm bells." I shrugged, checking behind me after we made some distance from the area. Ok, nothing. "I've been on high alert since I woke up, needless to say."

But of course the bad things had to be in front of us instead of behind, because irony. I drew my own gun, and took a shot at the shadow charging up an attack. "Yeah, figures we'd have something weak to fire the day after I have that taken off me."

Cole followed along with the rest in relative silence, looking around here and there but not saying anything much. There wasn't really a lot more to say at this point, to be honest.

He was starting to question Rex's sense of direction, however.

This cave was...rancid, and the fog was...disturbing. None of this seemed like it was even close to a direction for safety. And it was getting colder by the moment in this place. Cole's clothes weren't exactly designed for cold weather, between the haphazard sewing of his shirt and the loose openings at the ends of his pants...

Then there was a sudden screech of fear as he started to step inside the chamber, and he immediately all but lunged back for the relative safety of the entrance, eyes wide, shaking his head. "The floor is alive!" he gasped out, all but kicking off his shoes, flinging them back from the entrance a bit, crouching in the corridor and staring in unhidden horror at the area. "I feel them moving!"

Cavern with a Bunker

It seemed like Makoto hadn't seen either of his two friends. This was troubling, because Two seemed to have a bad habit of dying and Yuna wasn't in the best of moods. "She probably isn't staying safe," Caboose added. "She fell asleep crying so she probably isn't that happy still."

Yeah, Caboose didn't have much of a sense for when it was appropriate to dump information on other people's problems onto others. He didn't even skip a beat after Makoto left before responding to Wells. "Yeah, it's pretty common back home!" the soldier said. He didn't yet put together the dots that perhaps this other guy Wells mentioned might be from his world... not that he was, but it would be the logical assumption to make.

Now, this idiot didn't have a tiny bit of caution. So when he heard Swishee honk while staring at some yellow crystals, Caboose walked up towards said crystals and touched them.

Bergree gave a slight nod after Riley's comment. "Well, if they're like the goblins from home, they'll fight so long as they have us sufficiently outnumbered. Take out the toughest and then remove any numerical advantage, and the rest would flee" Bergree explained, but gave a half frown and added, "but of course they might not be goblins from my world."

Attention was then turned to Ben as he transformed into another alien started to melt a hole into the metal door. Ace seemed nonplussed about this, but Bergree had to back up- literally up given the confines of the pit and his spider legs- to get away from the heat.

This did seem to be going a bit better, since the unpowered mechanisms of the door inside the wall weren't providing resistance, but it could only go so fast to literally melt through metal. "I think this still isn't fast enough..." Bergree muttered, seeming to think, then an idea. "Wait, Ben! Stop trying to cut all the way through, and instead just weaken it! Then your friend can maybe break the piece off with his strength!" the drider called out.

In the meantime, Riley got a headcount of there being a dozen of the small beings coming their way, and they were just now entering the cavern above, still barking away at each other in an untranslated language.

Silanea seemed a little disappointed at Makoto's response and her just leaving. "Oh, I thought we'd look together" Silanea muttered, shaking her head and looking about, trying to think of where to go next.

Speaking of people just walking away, Wells was mid sentence as Caboose just went away to check out the crystals. "Well don't you think that maybe- Wait, where are you going?" Wells said, watching Caboose move over towards the side where the pokemon had gathered.

Swishee let out a few shorter honks, relaying in the pokemon... 'Language' that she saw the crystal patch moving slightly; that she thought it was alive. Then Caboose showed up and accidentally broke one of the crystals right off; the crystals weren't actually very secure, and a normal person without power armor could have broken them off if they gave it a good whack, so for Caboose, breaking it accidentally was not a big surprise.

What was a big surprise though was the loud groaning noise as the cluster of crystals shifted, along with the ground underneath it. A large creature seemingly made of stone and crystal◊ unearthed itself from the cavern floor, towering up at almost double Caboose's height. It raised the closest of its three legs into the air, and then slammed it down on the ground, hard enough to create a short range shock wave that hit Caboose like a mighty smack.

Swishee started honking in alarm and flapping up into the air, as Wells let out a simple statement of, "what the hell?!" Around the cavern, the other patches of crystals started to shift and unearth themselves as more of the creatures, five in total. "Damned! Weapons free!" the lieutenant ordered, grabbing his laser musket and firing on the crystalisk that was attacking Caboose, hitting it in the center; the other militia member grabbed the shotgun he had, and fired on one of the other crystalisks, also hitting it mostly in the center. Neither of their weapons fire seemed very effective. Silanea quickly moved herself to the civilians, already bringing up her ethereal shield; and just in time as a couple of the crystalisks started to launch clusters of sharp crystals through the air like a catapult flinging a cluster projectile attack. Valentina, looking more annoyed than alarmed, quickly formed her own bubble shield on herself, and simply observed for the moment, seeming to be analyzing the situation.

The woman cringed a little as Salamence again whined, but then kept moving along. With the tunnel going dark, she got a spare bolt from her bag and gathered some glowing energy to her hand, which then flowed into the bolt, and after a moment, the head of the bolt was lit in flame, giving a crude and small but still nevertheless better than nothing torch.

Moving along, having to pick a path at the occasional fork in the tunnels, the woman eventually came to an end of the tunnel that was covered in a semi transparent, sticky cloth substance. She didn't look too pleased about this, but paused for a moment, listening intently; there were faint voices audible from the other side, in particular, a young child who was clearly not enjoying the experience of whatever cavern was on the other side. "Hello?! Is someone there?!" the woman called, coming closer to the cloth but not touching it.

It was difficult for Riley to focus on scanning the room and the details nearby, so he almost missed Ben's transformation and attempt to get the doors open enough.

Once the heat started getting turned up, his attention was briefly diverted to getting his distance. After that, he tried again to figure out how many there actually were.

When he finally did, he announced, "alright, they definitely outnumber us."

Finally, Salamence had a sort-of ally, which made the search for Riley that much easier. As did the woman's ability to make her own light source. He could've probably used Fire Fang, but it wouldn't have been very effective, so he let her do what she was doing and simply followed behind.

Eventually, they stumbled across a room that seemed to be covered in String Shot. There was probably a bug-type nearby. In order to find the threat, Salamence began to sniff at the ground.

Before he could get a good idea of what was wrong other than the crystals were moving, Ursaring was surprised to see a human mess with one of them and summon some pretty impressive monsters.

Apparently they weren't having a rest soon. Immediately, Ursaring jumped into action and tried to attack one with a Shadow Claw. He also ordered Metagross to help, which caused it to stand up a little taller and used Meteor Mash.

Adam grumbled, the past several days had been rough, he had seen all manner of strange things pop up, he kept his distance as he worked better alone.

This wasn't a loner shtick it was just fact, people tended to die around him so he kept to himself when working. Teamups didn't work out.

No long range communication, that was a problem, his minimap was always useless out here in the city.

Still, smart vision was helping him to keep aware of what was near, though keeping it on for long periods chewed through his augmentation battery.

"Maybe I'll meet Pritchard down here while I'm at it."

"Are we... are we sure we have to fight them?" asked Morty, who was looking longingly at the shapely women who were, even now, floating across the cavern floor with what was surely lethal intent.

Morty sighed and looked at Lewis. "If you died - like right now - would you turn into a fire ghost again?" He threw his arms back defensively in preparation for the inevitable dirty look and ducked behind the motorcycle, lacking both an immediate source of fire or a psychokinetic blast.

"I-I-I'm just asking. Personal curiosity?"

Tunnels with Morty, Lewis, and Two Mind Controlling Fae- A Critical Hit

Lewis really would have made this fight pretty simple about 24 hours ago. Nothing was simple around here though, apparently. His bullet struck the Leanan Sidhe, but unlike the other Shadows, she shook it off and continued charging her attack.

“H-hey! No one's dying here! Probably…” Makoto said after hearing Morty. “I won't let them kill you.” As much as she meant that, her only real plan was hitting the enemies first before they could do any real damage. Back in the direction they had come from, she could hear yelling and something big moving, which also wasn't a good sign.

Unfortunately, the fae woman locked eyes with Morty as he cowered behind Anat, making her choice. Her eyes glowed pink as an odd sensation fell over Morty, finding it harder and harder to focus on what was going on beyond her stare.

“You aren't going to fight me, right?” she asked as she finished casting Marin Karin on him, tilting her head. ”Help us clean these rude, trespassing humans up and I promise I'll take good care of you.” Makoto had seen someone get brainwashed by a Shadow before, so it wasn't difficult to figure out what was going on.

“Ugh… Hold on Morty, let me just”- She was about to use Energy Shower to free him from being manipulated when the other Leanan Sidhe finally used Psio on her. The blast of psychic energy wasn't the most powerful Makoto had been hit with, but simply being weak to that particular magic was enough to send her to the ground with a surprised cry. Her head felt like it'd been slammed into a wall, and she couldn't even stand up again as she tried to recover. Anat disappeared when her concentration wavered, taking its place as her mask again.

Bunker Cavern

When Caboose broke off a bit of the yellow crystal his first thought was that he'd keep it as a souvenir or fancy pet rock. Unfortunately, it looked like something already owned those crystals. After being sent stumbling back a few feet by the shockwave, he managed to keep his footing and turned to look right at the beast.

"Those are some pretty rocks you have there," the soldier said to the crystalisk blithely. "You wouldn't mind if I had some, right?" Since the thing couldn't speak, he'd take the lack of a no as a yes. Contrary to what some people might do when getting attacked by such a clearly resilient and physically strong enemy, Caboose decided to run right towards the one that had attacked him. For his goal wasn't to fight the monsters but rather to "borrow" some of those pretty rocks on its leg.

Many pounds of Michael J. Caboose were heading right for the crystalisk that had hurt him. And their sole goal was to break off some crystals from the closest leg to keep. He'd get a fancy pet rock out of this even if it killed him! With that thought in mind, Caboose would smash Freckles right into one of the crystal clusters with all his strength to break off chunks he could put in his pocket. This was all assuming he'd be able to get close enough to do this, of course, but that was the plan.

Morty flinched as the wave of psionic energy washed over him, before rising up on jerky legs like a marionette, perhaps one whose puppeteer had been hitting the bottle before showtime. Whatever attention he had been paying before to Lewis and or Makoto was replaced by a vaguely dreamlike expression as he stared rhapsodically at the Leanan Sidhe.

Morty stammered inarticulately for a few seconds before managing to sputter out a cheerful "Okay!" and something that might have been him nodding while also trying to stand, being extremely weak in the knees. There was a familiar thump as Morty fired a grenade at Lewis's general position.

Eve | Caves | AAAAAAAA

Eve shook her head at Cole. "Cole, that wasn't what we were asking. If you need to say something, say it. Please." No one should suffer in silence, especially not children. She kept walking, stopping suddenly as they came upon a cave that didn't look very nice. Her eyes widened, and she, almost absentmindedly, picked up Cole's shoes. "Cole, come back here please," she called after the toddler. "Rex, why don't we turn around and go another way, hmm?" she asked, and her voice carried a touch of turn-around-now-or-else to it. She heard the voice from beyond the cavern. "Hi," Eve called. "I think we should both turn around. This place doesn't look safe!"

Well that did a whole lotta nothing, at least nothing obviously helpful. Didn't even stop the stupid shadow from readying its attack, the whole reason I went for that one specifically. I rolled my eyes at Morty's hormones getting in the way of his self-preservation instincts. "Depends, are you willing to risk your life to get the brain demon v? Personally, I'm not all that eager." If shooting them was gonna be useless, I might as well figure out something that doesn't waste bullets. Especially since I could hear something behind us that didn't sound any better.

Though...actually the respawn thing was a good question. Not one I wanted to find out right this second, obviously, but for sure worth knowing. Everyone came back how they were when they got here, but I was only this because of a challenge, but I hadn't finished the challenge either...in hindsight, I probably should've been thinking of a plan in that time, damn me, and been prepared for one of the leanan sidhes trying to make the answer to my sarcastic question yes, and the other blasting Makoto with the shot it'd been charging.

I jumped with a yelp out of the way of the flying grenade, and ran to her to try and get her to her feet faster. "Damn it, I meant that as a rhetorical thing!" Stupid teen hormones. Stupid fae magically encouraging said hormones. This whole thing would've been trivial yesterday, apparently, but nothing can be easy can it. I fired again at the same shadow I had before, more to be petty than out of expecting it to do anything.

Ursaring's charge went after one of the other four crystalisks, hitting it in the center and not really doing much. Metagross' follow up attack went right into one of the same crystalisk's legs though, shattering the patch of yellow crystals on it and seeming to do good damage based on the way the crystalisk recoiled in response. A similar outcome happened as Caboose slammed the rifle butt down on the leg of the crystalisk attacking him, and in both cases, the broken off crystals fell to the cavern floor, bouncing slightly and rolling a little bit with the slope of the cavern in general. Neither crystalisk was dead just yet though, moving their legs to rotate slightly and each trying to do the foot slam shock wave attack again, just one against both Ursaring and Metagross, and the other against Caboose for a second time.

"I see now; mister Wells, shoot for the yellow crystals on their legs!" Valentina called out.

Wells didn't even look over, but did pause for a brief moment, then shifted his aim, firing the laser musket into the raised leg of the crystalisk about to attack Caboose, hitting it a couple of times and breaking off a couple more of the faintly luminescent crystals. "Do as she says!" Wells commanded the other militia member, who adjusted his own firing with his shotgun accordingly.

"Darturien, afflict that one!" Valentina then commanded her ally, who came out of hiding and raised his mace in the air; a sickly red glow surrounded one of the other crystalisks, and it paused its crystal flinging. Valentina raised her staff and a bolt of blue energy shot from the end of it into that same crystalisk's leg, breaking off several of the crystals in one hit.

Silanea was still focused on shielding the civilians, who were attempting to use the bunker itself as cover, at least in some way.

Sure, Rex had promised Cole not to fight with Eve but there was nothing in that promise about not lightly butting heads over decisions. And well, it really just looked like a normal cave, creepy smoke not withstanding.

"Would you relax? It's just a cave. If you've seen one, you've seen them all"

Cole didn't think that way and freaked out, claiming the ground had moved and that it was alive. Of course that was a crazy idea but maybe something had simply touched his legs and he was jumpy because of the day conditions.

"What are you talking abo—" Rex trailed off, as he moved his free hand close to the ground to dissipate part of the smoke. To be fair to Cole, there really was something there: hundreds of tapeworms writhing all over the place. Rex grimaced as he looked at them, especially since they were splitting down the middle and creating more of themselves "Ok, that is gross"

The party wasn't over just yet and there were more invited people just coming in. A hooded woman and some kind of small blue dragon showed up, the former trying to illuminate the place as much as she could with her crossbow.

"Wait a minute, I know you..." Rex looked like he was deep in thought for a moment before snapping his fingers like he had suddenly found the answer he was looking for "Have you destroyed a village full of snake-people lately?"

"Not safe? Do you need help?" the woman called out in mild concern after Eve's statement, but then was a bit confused at first when Rex started, then tensed up when he concluded. "What? Not- merde!" the woman said, turning heel and booking it back down the tunnel.

Ravine

Unfortunately, the Predator failed to trip on the oil puddle, or even to stumble. Worse, it then turned its attention to Garrett and threw some sort of a sharpened disk at him.

The thief, upon seeing the Predator make the throw, instinctively threw himself to the ground. The blade still nicked him on the right shoulder, but did not wound him life-threateningly.

Getting himself off the ground, Garrett looked around for a rock or something behind which he could hide from the alien. At the same time, he took out a healing potion and drank it.

Vs. Gibbering Mouther

Despite so many juicy eyes to target, it didn't seem like the slashes did anything to the creature other than agitate it. Perhaps the hits simply missed whatever core it had; even as dirty blood splurted out of the damaged eyeballs. It shrieked and replied with an attack of its own, spitting a glob that, rather than try and hit someone with it, simply exploded into a blinding flash, meant to disable the assailants.

It worked on Two, at least - it was not an easy day for her - as she recoiled with a cry. Luckily for her - and unluckily for the other two - it seemed the mouther was interested in attacking things closer to itself. As such, it barreled forward, meant to try and swallow either Rick or Lucario into its eldritch depths.

The predator caught the disc blade on its return trip, right before Absol hit, getting its claw right into the predator's neck, spurting out luminescent, green blood. The predator almost staggered, dropping his disc blade in the process, then reached his arms back over his shoulder to grab Absol. With a mighty, defiant roar, the predator threw both arms forward as he turned towards the ravine, tossing the pokemon into it; and what a toss it was, as Absol was sent with enough momentum to go right into the ruined lab room, thirty feet down- after smacking into the edge of the room's ceiling, so he got two impacts before coming to a stop.

With that done, the predator fell to his knees, one hand going to the wound in his neck, which was still bleeding profusely. He sat there for the moment, just breathing heavily through his mask.

If Lucario could curse, he would've. Whatever this thing was, the eyes weren't its weak-point. Before he could change tactics, the thing shot some sort of blinding attack.

Unlike the other two, Lucario had no reason to even keep his eyes open. While he did recoil slightly at the light, once he closed his eyes again, he simply kept fighting without difficulty.

In fact, as the others were being blinded, Lucario decided to retaliate by chucking the bone in his hands right at the monster's mouth, then jumping over it to deliver a Blaze Kick to the head.

Absol only had a few seconds to be glad that his attack landed before he landed. On the ground. Very, very far below. Well, first he had to say hello to the side of the ravine, of course.

There was a sickening 'crunch' as he made his final landing, though that was covered up by his agonized cry. The fall didn't kill him instantly, and he was in too much pain to even move, so he simply sat there, trembling in agony.

Salamence's search was interrupted by his ally deciding that she didn't like whatever the other human was talking about. Without even really thinking about it, he quickly turned and started to follow again.

With all the chaos happening, Ursaring didn't take his time to analyze the situation, instead he simply powered ahead. Well, he was intelligent enough to jump away to avoid the shockwave attack.

Metagross was doing nothing but analyzing, and didn't seem very impressed by the shockwave. Not that anything impressed it, but still. So, it simply waited for the monsters to lower their legs before trying to slam into one of their legs with a Zen Headbutt.

Gon, waiting for things to pass

Gon was about to open the backpack when he heard someone or something moving about. The assassin looked around to see if there was a hiding place he can use to avoid being detected.

"Can I... use that?"

Gon crouched and ran to a boulder that was slightly illuminated by the mushrooms, which allowed him to see where he can run to.

He dashed and went prone and just left the bag behind. He didn't have time to get it immediately.

Gon listened in and waited for whatever was coming to just walk pass by the cave he was in.

Thanks to Herc’s strength the door opened up revealing a corridor but apparently it was only that big to fit only Ben, Ace, Riley and Hercules himself as it turned out Bergree wasn’t fit through the hole that Herc had made then Ben told everyone to move aside so Hercules then moved away from the door and allowed Ben who was now in the form of Heatblast to start melting a hole in the metal frame.

But unfortunately the group would be soon be dealing with some unwanted company in the form of goblins according to Bergree, sooner or later the part of the cavern they were in would be swarming with the little things if they didn’t hurry. Meanwhile Riley was scanning the area to determine their numbers and from what he was saying things weren’t looking good.

Then Bergree suggested to Ben could use his powers to weaken the door while Herc could break off it while his strength. After he had said all this Herc then nodded in Bergree’s direction and nodded: “Right! Okay Ben, let’s do this!” Herc then said to Ben pretty much understanding what they should do next.
