They do both, most shows end up being a hybrid of CG and hand drawn scenes.

Pretty much anything past SEED has some CG in it. Turn A was the last fully hand-drawn series.

Amidst the flurry of Gundam news coming out of NYCC, the biggest is that IBO IS GETTING A DUB.

I am legitimately surprised by this.

Bang Zoom also generally makes quality dubs. Thank God it's not Sentai.

I'm just gonna start crossing my fingers for Toonami to take an interest.

Dude, this is what social media was meant for. Go on Toonami's facebook page and tell them about it. Granted, it might be a few months before they've got a dubbed version ready to go but it's better than just hoping.

Kind of sad it isn't the same people who did 00's dub. That was a good one.

[up]That was Ocean Group, who haven't really made any good dubs in years.

The script for the 00 dub was pretty weak. The dialogue often felt very stiff and unnatural.

What's precedent ever done for us?

I'm sure Toonami's wanting the series, the problem is that Sunrise kept the Broadcasting rights for themselves and are selling them at a really high price by Toonami's standards. (Jason Demarco head of Toonami has said it would cost in the range of 2-3 times more than their average show for Gundam.)

¡Yeah Episode 2 is out!

Wait. ¿Biscuit's 2 Little Sisters are named... Cookie and Cracker? Did not see a Edible Theme Naming in Gundam. another Pretty Funny thing was Despite that Danji was the Sacrificial Lamb he Originally wanted to Die by... Being Smothered by Big Boobs. Also I Noticed in the Next Episode the Gundam Barbatos has a Shoulder Pad, Meaning Next Time it will be Finally Showing its Mega Manning Abilities.

Coming out of the second episode just, and anyone get the feeling Crank, Ein, and Orlis are based on Slender, Denim, and Gene?

Just saw the latest episode, little bit of action at the start, still liking the need to be clever especially since Mizukai is at risk of dying in that thing.

Characters are cyborgs confirmed, glad that exists.

The princess continues to show a sheltered clueless side she wishes to move past.

And the enemy soldiers aren't all bad guys. One is deeply haunted.

3rd Episode better still be good.

Episode 2:

  • The shipper in me is pleased with the OP and how there's a bunch of Orga and Mika focus, although most of it has this 'space' between them (the corn stalk, Barbatos). Foreshadowing maybe? Their current dynamic as it is seems pretty imbalanced, with Mika always doing whatever Orga wants him to do, and Orga always saying "Something only you can do". Gah. I can't wait to see their past.

  • The fight was amazing. The battle strategies (Using the Mobile Workers as shields, continued usage of terrain). And throwing the mace at the enemy, jumping up and catching it as enemy deflects it and then severing said enemy's arm was definitely a CMOA.

  • The various character moments are pretty good too. Aina having suspicions about his dad, Aina and Mika's exchange (Mika sounded really pissed, it was nice), and Orga taking all the beatings from the First Group are my favorites.

  • Akihiro seems to be Human Debris, whatever that means. He also had two of the implants if I remember correctly. Hmm.

  • Lieutenant Crank was pretty cool too. Hope he doesn't die, but he probably will. I've always thought Ein looks like he'd be someone who'll eventually ally to the Third Group, but maybe he won't if Crank dies?

  • I like that the officer uniforms of the Mars branch of Gjallarhorn (I'm assuming that's what they are) are red, while the ones from the main (from Earth) branch are blue.

Pretty good episode! Definitely faster-paced since it didn't need to do all the exposition that the first episode did. Good mix of combat, character moments, and plot advancement — all of which were well-executed and pretty satisfying. Episode 1 didn't completely sell me on IBO, but episode 2 pretty much did. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I want to know what freaky genetic engineering created the disco corn from the ED.

[up][up]Stuff like that exists already. Just do a Google image search for "corn colors" and you'll see photos of it.

Still going well, I'm pleased. Fight still good and First Corps are garbage. I think Orga is planning to use Mikazuki to assassinate them.

I've seen a lot of fans complaining about the young girls and how they're "too moe for this series", but I don't know, I think they're a bit of a welcome break from serious-gritty blood-and-death. It humanizes the entire cast, actually, showing that there is still innocence in the world and reminding everyone that there is something worth fighting for.

So far I'm loving the series developments. The characters are realistic, all acting about as I'd expect someone in their situation to act. All the decisions they make seem rational for their situation and personalities... none of Tomino's patented "people doing things for unclear, illogical reasons" stuff here. Again, I've seen some complaints about the adults acting "cartoonishly evil" but, come on people, these are men who use child soldiers as cheap labor. Of course they're grade-A scumbags!

Hell, I'm even liking the resident "noble girl calling for betterment of society". She's got her heart in the right place, but she's naive, sheltered from just how bad the world can be, and she doesn't really understand the plight of the people she's standing up for. Lots of room for good character development there. And I also like how she immediately saw through her father's treachery: this girl's smart, not just innocent.

All in all, this is shaping up to be one of the best Gundam series I've seen. The foundation for excellence has been laid. It remains to be seen if the writers will be able to keep up this level of quality as the show develops.
