Gonna wait to get my hopes up until I'm convinced it's not going to star Wolverine and a handful of kid sidekicks.

First thought: Sweet!

Second thought: Damn, it is still Fox, so better not have my hopes up.

I mean, sure, Fox showed they can make great X Men movies. The trade off is that the characters are board line In Name Only more often than not. Since one of the main reasons I like New Mutants are the characters themselves, I have no reasons to be all hyped up.

Jackman has already said Wolverine 2(/3 counting Origins)is his last X-Men movie so you don't need to worry about him.

That would mean X-Men has a female lead as the main character. Which is Lulzy.

X-23 is awesome, so I am perfectly fine with that.

Well, while I would hate to have a single character hogging all the spotlight, X-23 is a good character when well written, so I wouldn't be terribly upset by that.

There is that too.

X-23: Best solution for the Wolverine Publicity problem. Just create a character using his fame and then develop something entirely different from there.

Heh. I find it hilarious that people who dislike Wolverine or find him a film hog are all, "A genderswapped teenage Wolverine clone? I'm totally fine with that."

I wonder if they will actually go with the "clone" part. Perhaps just make her a relative?

They could make her a Brick Joke with the "Are you one of the parents" line of DOFP.

Hmm. Wolverine's daughter. That might work.

Now we just need to worry about this conversation.

• WRITER: Okay, so, you told me to write "A Wolverine" into the movie even though Jackman's leaving, so here's my idea for how we can have X-23 get the focus.
• EXECUTIVE: What the hell are those and why are they on the main character?
• WRITER: ...those are breasts, sir. She's a woman.
• EXECUTIVE: Nope. None of that. That's not going to fly, no.
• WRITER: Without Jackman, we can't just slap Wolverine on everything like we used to, and X-23 is a well beloved character. The fans will go nuts. People will be coming to the movie in droves.
• EXECUTIVE: You can't put a woman in the lead. Remember Catwoman? Doesn't work. Wait, who's that?
• WRITER: Huh? Oh, that's not important, it's just from some of the research we did on X-23.
• EXECUTIVE: He's young, he looks awesome, he's got the Wolverine claws, and he's not a f*cking woman! What's his name...Daken! We're making the movie about Daken.

I can't even say it's a good thing because Daken's bisexual, because they would probably erase that, too.

What would your ideal team be in the movie if you could choose? Let's say 6 members.

For me it would probably be:

• Dani
• Magik
• Rahne
• Kitty
• Sunspot(maybe)
• Cable(maybe)

Given that Rogue's actress wants more action parts I would be fine with Rogue joining the team.

Edit: I'm fine with X-23 also. Daken I could do without(is it even possible after The Wolverine telling us about Logan in Japan?).

They can't use Kitty Pryde because Ellen Paige is too old by now (okay, she isn't old, but old enough not to be one of the main teenagers of the film).

I would love it if they had Magik.

Make her the team leader like she was to the All-New X-Men in the comics.

They could always recast Young Kitty.

I want Doug Ramsey/Cypher, if he can be written as well as the recent New Mutants revival a few years back had him.

I would remove Cable, but other than that it is great. Cannonball would be neat too because of his powers. I kinda want to add Amara just for her ludicrous background, but I am sure that would be too much.

That said, both Kitty and Sunspot are awful in the movies, so I wouldn't be exited on having them back. They are cool in the comics, but their movie version is just not good.

Also, I am all of old school nostalgia (the original New Mutants were the best ones, after all), but maybe some newer names could do good. Not sure what would be the best ones for that, though.

Hmm. I'm wondering when this movie will take place in the timeline. Right after Apocalypse? So in the '80s/'90s? Or in the "present day" of the new timeline Wolverine created in Days of Future Past? So 2020-something.
