The intel we got from the space guys gave us some idea beforehand, but A. they don't actually have a direct sample of her powers, and B. it was mostly about the explosions. Lambert got out before she arrived, so he only watched the rest. If we did have a power sample, we could develop more specific countermeasures."

He chuckles darkly while reading Oca's texts as well as the picture, and calls Oca through it so they can talk together. "Do either of you know anything about Eleven using one of your transformations? I thought that was supposed to be biologically impossible. I should know." Aleifr briefly takes on the appearance, though not the actual power, of the base Super Saiyan form, before going back to normal.

"Biological augmentation would probably do it. Human transmutation, to use your jargon." Mike's voice chimes in from... somewhere.

He then sighs again at the prospect of actually continuing to help directly. "It's not that simple. I was hoping to keep this on the down low, but I'm not the one who was there at the scene, and now that word's spreading a lot of my people are spooked. They're tough, but the whole point of me doing this was so that they can stop being on the run, not to have a cabal of world-destroying tyrants breathing down on our necks. I can still share technology and information, and if one of us is around before a fight we could help, but I'm afraid I have to break the deal with made."

A picture of a wolf is shown on the card. Said card then vanishes and a werewolf suddenly appears in front of Luxord.

"So you have chosen the werewolf. Your challenge will be to either kill it or put it in a position where it cannot attack you. No limitations on your methods."

The werewolf howls, after which it goes for a sweeping slash with its claws.

Luxord vanishes moments before the werewolf's claws strike him. He reappears in the air and throws a barrage of slicing cards at it.

The werewolf gets struck, and while it's not dead from this, it did sustain some heavy damage, bleeding in multiple places.

"Oh?", the being mutters, apparently surprised.

The werewolf then leaps up towards Luxord, attempting to get its fangs around his neck.

Luxord gets his leg caught instead, causing him to grunt in pain. He strains to pry the werewolf off with his right hand...

but with his left, he flicks a card out of his sleeve and catches it. With a flick of the wrist and a snap of the fingers, the card vanishes into magical sparkles, and Saïx's huge axe-sword-thing, called Lunatic,◊ appears in its place. He brings Lunatic down on the werewolf, aiming to put an end to it then and there.

"Professor, are you texting someone?"

"Shut up, you're in an exam. I'm texting IMPORTANT PEOPLE about IMPORTANT THINGS."

"i dont know the mafuba im not am agician. i could toss empty Capsules at them and hope that works but it seems a little too cheap to spam here."

He makes an 'oh, huh' face when he gets directly called, and mutes himself relative to his surroundings.

"I mean... Sisters and Siblings are artificial. Is it so hard to believe they snagged some Super Saiyan DNA?"

"I'm not even personally invested in this, I'm just helping out every once in a while 'cause the Neuffs are good friends. I got nothing to say about no deals."

The werewolf's jaw is too strong for one hand to pry off. However, when Luxord brings his weapon down upon the werewolf, the beast's head is split open. Its fangs open up, and it disappears into light as it falls, letting out one final howl. In its final moments, for less than a second, it seems to look more human-like than wolf-like.

"Well now, the last time I used one of these in a game it lasted much longer.", the dark being says.

"I suppose I underestimated you. Very well, it's now your turn."

Luxord smirks. "It would be foolish to underestimate one's opponent at the start of the game. Now then!"

He snaps his fingers again, and he disappears. The ring of cards around the field suddenly 'shuffles' itself. Some cards fly away while the rest bunch closer together, making the ring smaller.

"All you have to do is find the card that has me on it."

If the dark being's perception is astute enough, he may notice one of the cards shifting about more than the rest...

Regrettable, but fine. If Thor isn't caught off-guard and has your tech, we could do some good things. What matter is hitting them, and they aren't likely to dodge.

She contemplate her options and acknowledge Oca's texts.

Hm, Eleven has a super mode, huh? Might be Limit Breaker. But otherwise, they had no Saiyan DNA on them when they started out the project. She might have enhanced herself, yeah. Regardless, my two sisters are somewhat bigger issues for now. Hm...

Sarah paces around. Oh, and by the way, I'll still uphold my end of the deal. But I think you'd understand if I wait for the Cabal to be gone first. Oh and-

She start to type.

... Maybe we could dump them in your old universe? Or would it be too dangerous?

The dark being looks around as the cards shuffle and the ring gets smaller.

As he's given his challenge, he starts playing with a die in one of his hands. Despite that, his attention is not on that die, as he suddenly points to the card that's shifting around more.

"I choose that card."

The card flips around and turns into Luxord. "Perhaps that was a bit too easy. Oh well. I'm just getting started."

He waits for the being to offer the next challenge.

"Same for me.", the being says, now tossing the die over to Luxord. Once he catches it and sees that it's a ten-sided die, it'll duplicate into a second one, but this one has a different color.

"You must throw both dice. If the original has a lower number than the duplicate, you win. Otherwise you will lose one gauge and you will have to throw again."

Luxord rolls an 8 with the original and a 5 with the duplicate.

He rolls again, this time getting a 2 and a 4, respectively.

"Rolling dice takes so little time that it may as well not matter how you phrased that challenge," he quips.

"Perceptive.", the being says. "It is your turn."

"It's your turn to roll the dice," Luxord remarks. With a wave of his hand, the dark being is turned into a d10. Instead of numbers, nine of the faces have an X on them, while the tenth has an O on it.

"You must roll yourself. If you land on an O, you will turn back to normal, and the challenge will be over. But each roll is a tick long, so be careful how you roll..."

What Luxord avoids mentioning is that, every time the die lands on an X, that X will turn into an O.

So basically before any rolls, you must roll 10 to revert, but if you roll a 7 on the first roll, rolling a 7 again will also end it - you can only fail a maximum of 9 times

The being, upon being transformed, appears to be slightly rattled.

"What is-"

He listens to Luxord's challenge.

"... I see."

He lets himself roll.

First he gets a 6.

Second roll, he gets a 2.

Third roll, an 8.

Fourth roll, a 5.

Fifth roll, another 8.

He turns back to normal after his fifth roll since the 8 had turned into an O after the third roll, putting a hand on his chest to verify that he did, indeed, change back.

"... I can say for certain that I have never played a game before where I was altered.", he says, though despite his earlier reaction he doesn't sound upset about it.

"My apologies," Luxord replies sincerely. "If that was uncomfortable, I can refrain from utilizing it in future challenges."

"I would call it 'interesting' more than 'uncomfortable'. The fact that you are capable of altering my form, though, tells me that I should stop holding back."

He gains a slight aura, then spreads out his arms as a mountain of silver coins appears on the field.

"Find a golden coin among the silver coins and give it to me. Since our game is time-based, there is more than one golden coin present, and you only need one."

Luxord draws some cards from his sleeves and tosses them into the pile, sending coins scattering into the sky. He looks up and sees a more yellowish glimmer...

and he catches a golden coin, flicking it at the dark being. Naturally, this wasted an unnecessary bit of time, but so be it.

The dark being catches the coin. He could have been difficult about receiving the coin, but that wouldn't be very fair.

"I must admit, you are crafty. But also a bit too flashy at times."

He starts moving the coin around his fingers in a similar way Luxord did with his cards during his introduction.

"I await your challenge."

"Well, if you refuse to hold back, then I shall do the same." Luxord throws more cards into the outer ring and vanishes.

"Your objective? Survive."

Five Dusks appear. They lumber towards the dark being and swipe at him, while cards from the ring randomly break apart into projectile barrages.

After a single tick's worth of actual time passes, the onslaught will cease on its own, but Luxord's aim is to overwhelm the dark being in that short time.

"I am not the best at fighting. This could be trouble.", he mutters. He seems to slide backwards to avoid the initial dusks in an almost ethereal motion, but the card projectiles catch him off guard a bit.

He grabs his coin right before one of the projectiles hits him, looking like he's about to flick it, but seems to decide against it and ends up getting hit by three of them before the challenge ends.

Together with the tick of time that passes, that's four off of his gauge.

"I seem to be losing handily. I am not used to being at a disadvantage this much.", he says, which seems to be an indicator that's he's planning to take his challenges even further beyond.

"I suppose that was your misfortune. The game is still on, so don't give up just yet."

Luxord draws some cards in preparation, in case the dark being decides to throw another enemy at him.

"Giving up? I'd rather lose with dignity."

The dice that Luxord still had vanish, reappearing in his hand.

"Your next challenge is another fight. You, as well as what I'll summon, may each attack three times. However, this time, I will throw the dice. The numbers will determine how strong your attack turns out to be. If you win, you will only lose one tick off of your gauge even though you got to attack three times. If you lose, you will lose six ticks, one for each throw."

He flips the rightmost card, the two remaining cards having still been on the field from the start, and it summons forth... a completely normal-looking human.

"You may begin.", the being says, then chuckling somewhat ominously, as if there's more to this challenge than he's letting on.

"Those are some high stakes."

Luxord knows better than to judge by appearances, considering he looks like a dude in a coat but is (was) actually a super-powerful being borne of twilight. He throws a simple volley of projectile cards.
