Bixen turned toward the hole. "What was that...?" She put a paw into her 'Pouch of Holding' as she tried to figure out who or what made the hole.

T!Reyna looks at the hole.

"Anyone home?"

Neuff look down at the hole and fold her arms.

Bixen got out a flashlight and shone it inside to take a look.

... So much for that. Anyone up for a boss fight?

Vague Noctilum (not where the other thing was happening)

Hunter!Reyna runs beneath the canopy of the trees, muttering a mixture of "no, no, no..." and curse words under her breath.

She is being followed by thick tree roots, which are seemingly extending from a point of origin toward her as if giving chase.

Reyna turns around and holds out a runestone, from which fire bursts forth, igniting the roots, spreading to their origin point, and burning them away.

"Why here, why here, why here?!"

She shoves an SOS Flare into her Slinger and fires it into the dusk sky. It burns brightly enough to be seen from miles away.

Two beings notice it and head for it. One's much faster, though, effortlessly reaching Reyna by knocking down a tree.

Oh hey look, it's a steel-type human !

Wendy come up behind her, blinking on confusion at the sight of Reyna.

Concealed in the darkness of the lush Noctilum forest, a mysterious figure observes Reyna's plight, wondering whether to intervene.

Reyna stops running in front of the Pokemon.

"... That was fast. Okay, I don't know who or what either of you are, but I've seriously pissed something off big time. It's a woodland spirit called an Ancient Leshen. It manipulates plant and animal life to fight. Help me kill it?"

Fire's my bitch. Come on. I'll show you how it's done.

W-well, if it manipulate plant life...

Come on, then. You ain't just plant stuff. Come here and witness me owning. says Tokza. Wendy looks hesitant, biting her "lip".

The group may get an impression of being watched. A careful look into the forest may reveal, in the distance, an unclear silhouette, shrouded in darkness, and slightly to the side of it, a pair of eyes burning with unearthly flames.

Reyna notices, but says nothing, because she knows exactly what her mark is doing.

Suddenly, a flock of weird vulture-like birds◊ come flying in... right in front of the silhouetted figure.

"Here it comes..."

From the cloud of black smoke and Revoltures, the Ancient Leshen◊ emerges!

The Hunt Begins

Despite its initial placement, the Ancient Leshen attacks Reyna first, since she's the only one present who's already provoked its ire. It slaps a palm on the ground, and roots erupt from the ground in front of it in a 'V' shape, one line arcing along the ground toward Reyna and the other toward Tokza.

Reyna rolls away from the roots snaking toward her.

A pack of dog-sized iguana-like monsters, their eyes glowing red from the Leshen's control, start to swarm into the area from behind it.

Then the Leshen folds its arms over its chest and disappears into another flock of Revoltures, reappearing right behind the (currently) three-girl team.

Tokza attacks with Flamethrower, going for a wide sweep with it to try to defend herself and attack first. Wendy, a bit spooked, complete her first Quiver Dance, gaining in speed and overall power.

The beast emerges to see...

...a small, hunched, withered old hag in torn gray robes, missing most of her teeth, one of her eyes glazed over. She sits in what appears to be an ornate wooden mortar. In one of her bony hands, she holds a heavy pestle, in the other, a primitive broom with a handle made of bones. The flaming eyes are revealed to belong to a human skull floating next to her.

She stares at the beast with a disapproving gaze, then attempts to whack it on the head with her broom while yelling at it in Russian. Her tone seems to be more annoyed and angry than scared of the titan before her.

The Ancient Leshen is... shall we say, incensed by the hag's disrespectful attitude. It doesn't seem too bothered by Tokza's fire (although there are satisfying noises coming from the sound of it being burned).

It draws one arm over its shoulder and then sweeps it out, conjuring Revoltures out of seemingly thin air which swarm around its body.

While the Ancient Leshen's Revolture 'aura' surrounds it, coming close enough for physical contact means taking continuous unavoidable 'tick' damage until you disengage from that proximity.

"Don't worry about keeping distance, I can heal you!" Reyna barks, drawing her True Gae Bolg.

The Ancient Leshen folds its arms over its chest and teleports some distance away from the entire party, then stances up and... merely swishes its hand in the general direction of the hag. This causes more Revoltures to be conjured, but these ones fly toward her in a condensed flock like a big flying ball of pain, and will also hit anyone behind her in their path. A smaller stream of them flies forth shortly after, trying to catch her off-guard if she dodged the first assault.

The Jagras pack arrives on the battlefield, numbering six strong by the looks of it. They lunge to bite at Wendy and Tokza.

Surprised by the sudden attack, Bixen shone the flashlight in the Lechen's eyes before searching for a better tool.

Tokza cloak her talons with fire and begins to breakdance, attempting to knock away her enemy while Wendy does the second part of Quiver Dance.

Look, another Pokémon, and a old human !

FOCUS DAMMIT !

As Bixen was rummaging around in her pouch, she looked at the Pokémon with a confused face. "Huh? Me?" she asked before going back to her search.

The hag dives fully into her mortar like a whack-a-mole, letting the first flock of Revoltures pass harmlessly. Unfortunately, she emerges just in time for the second flock to peck at her, dealing surprisingly little damage when taking into account the fact that she looks like a wind gust could tip her over.

"Oh, you are going regret," she says in broken English with a heavy Russian accent. "This Baba still has fight left in old bones, djavol!"

She rummages in the depths of her mortar, pulls out a big jar, and hurls it at Leshen with all the surprising strength of her bony arms. Upon impact, it will shatter to release a swarm of tiny imps that will crawl all over Leshen, claw him, tickle him, poke him, and generally be extreme annoyances.

The Ancient Leshen turns its head away as it holds up one hand to block the flashlight.

It teleports again to avoid the hag's jar and the imps within, materializing among the foliage just a bit behind the team and far to their left, potentially making it difficult for them to determine its new position due to the gloom of night.

Then it roars as it raises its arms into the air, before plunging both its hands deep into the earth. A cluster of tree roots spring up from underneath Bixen. She has roughly a second and a half to react to them before they grow in an explosive fashion, springing out into a circular nest of massive wooden tendrils that will send her, and anyone near her, tumbling away if they're not clear of the AoE radius.

Tokza's attack sends a couple Jagras tumbling head-over-heels away, incapacitating them, while another one comes up and attempts to bite her.

Two more Jagras bite at Wendy, and the last one that didn't get hit by Tokza's Fire Spin leaps for Bixen, attempting to tackle her.

With a spin of her True Gae Bolg, Reyna sends her Kinsect, the True Dragon Soul,◊ at the Ancient Leshen's head, attempting to retrieve a red extract from the monster which she will then call back to herself.

Tokza uses a small-scale Flamethrower to boost herself up, gather fire in her throat and fire a sweeping Flamethrower at the Leshen and his minions ! Wendy, meanwhile, uses her enhanced speed to back off and fire several roots, attempting to tangle and smash her enemies.

Much to Baba's displeasure, the imps don't bother tracking the Leshen down and disperse into the woods. She frowns and fires a barrage of small, but painful ethereal blue-green needles at the Leshen's Jagras, similar to the needles of a blue spruce◊.

The Jagras fall one by one. First, the ones in the back that were knocked away by Tokza get killed by Baba Yaga's needles, then the ones up front are wiped out by Tokza's Flamethrower and Wendy's Frenzy Plant.

The last one, the one that had attacked Bixen, is impaled through the head by Reyna, who flings it away with a vertical whirl.

The Ancient Leshen gets extract taken from it, but the roots never reach it, because it reroutes them. Raising up one hand, it takes control of Wendy's roots and makes them spring up around it, forming a barrier.

Then, with a great sweeping motion, it launches a huge wall of Revoltures right through the barrier of roots. The flock is centered on Reyna, but wide enough to hit all of the Leshen's enemies if they don't dodge or block.

Reyna, for her part, gets completely floored.

Wendy uses Protect to block the attack, seemingly urging Tokza to get behind her. The Fire Pokémon, however, merely jump above the attack and attempts to tag the Leshen with a Mach Punch, before coating her other fist on fire and going for a painful blow to the stomach.

Look at me, doing the most damage so far ! Ha !

Baba Yaga whips at her mortar with her pestle, shouting encouragements at it in Russian. This causes the mortar to spring into the air over the wall of vultures.

"Want play with birds?" she asks as she ruffles in the depths of the mortar to pull out three hunting horns. With each one she blows into, the sound becomes deeper and louder, and at the third, the forest comes alive with squeaks, chirps and songs as a swarm of various birds swarm the area, clawing and pecking at the Leshen and any minions he may have left. Among them, a glowing bird with radiant plumage makes a beeline directly for Leshen, leaving a trail of flames in its wake.

Bixen quickly drew a rocket launcher 3 times her size and fired missiles at the Jagra. However, she didn't get out of the way of the roots and got trapped. "Gah!"
