Miles attention was then drawn to the new arrival, "Um, hello? Is everything alright over there?"

She softens slightly upon noticing Miles, but sort of goes around him. "I don't know who you are, but you aren't involved, and you don't want to be," she says as she sidesteps him.

"And YOU!"

She walks right up to Oca.

"How do you have the nerve to come back here after completely ignoring my birthday?! You make a big fuss about Ceres's birthday the day of and you have the fucking balls to completely forget mine?!"

The android starts to chew him out while he rolls his eyes and scratches the back of his head.

If this were anime, Miles and his friends would likely be sweatdropping right now, "Ermm...yeah, I think you should take this one, Oca. We'll be over here doing window shopping while you're...yeah.." The trio quickly put some distance between them and the other trio.

The nearest building is about twenty meters away, and all that can be seen inside is a hotel lobby, so… there's a good number of teleporters around though. And more generic transport tubes, though they seem more fit for cargo than people.

"Okay, but you see the thing is… I don't give a shit."

   "YOU—"   

Her rage redoubles, and he smirks, clearly enjoying pushing her buttons.

Seeing not much that was exciting, Miles glanced over at the volcano starting to erupt and sighed, deciding he might as well try and defuse this, he walked back over, "Um, hi miss? I know this is none of my business but if Oca here has wronged you in some way, maybe he can make it up to you? And if he decides he still doesn't give a shit...well.."

He narrowed his eyes at him, "I'll make sure he does...after all...we don't want to...make a scene in public, do we?"

"Or maybe he's just playing hard to get?" Nebula added with a wink, "Come on, why don't you take her out for a romantic dinner, Oca?"

She immediately recoils.

"Are you shitting me?! With that… that madman?!"

Oca rolls his eyes at Miles thinking he could force him to do anything, before looking at Nebula and smirking.

"Because I already have a girlfriend, dipstick."

He then gives a sly look exactly contrary to what he said at Marrioni, who cringes. He then bursts out laughing.

Miles rolled his eyes in turn before turning to the redhead, "Hi, Miss? Um, sorry again...I know I should probably keep my mouth shut and I understand him missing your birthday is a big deal and all and I'm not saying you don't have the right to be upset. Just, um..."

He sighed and facepalmed before eyeing Oca, "Please tell me you at least picked her up a gift of some kind?"

His eyes practically do a one-eighty before he sighs.

"I got her a gift called saving the fucking universe. I was busy, okay?"

She snorts.

"I had a damn good reason and you know it. I mean, besides forgetting."

She snorts again, more angerily this time.

"Besides, you're Ceres's friend, not mine. I just know you through her."

… At the very least, she doesn't debate her not being his friend.

"Ok, um, Miss?" Miles spoke up, trying to be the voice of reason, "Might I suggest a bit of deep breathing? It tends to help me when I'm feeling stressed out. You inhale for a couple of seconds, hold it in for a second or two, and then let it out slowly. It takes a while but it helps, trust me."

"I know you're upset, but was it really that important for him to be at your birthday?" Corona asked, "After all, he is doing very important work."

She sighs. Metaphorically, of course; she doesn't have lungs.

"No, I guess not."

"damn right bitch."

"WHAT. DID. YOU— "

"You heard me."

She looks right at him, and they both glare intensely for several seconds before they break into wry grins.

"You better show your ass up next year, that clear?"

"Crystal~."

The trio shared the same blank look, "What just happened?" Corona asked, tilting her head.

"I don't know, and I'm not sure if I want to know," Nebula remarked with a sigh, "But at least we don't have to worry about them tearing each other's limbs off."

"Agreed," Miles nodded, before turning to the girl in question, "Um, hi there. I'm Miles. This is Nebula and Corona."

She turns to them.

"Hey, I'm Marrioni. I live a few kilometers that way," she says before pointing to the northeast.

"What are you? You're a little… cohesive for mutants, at least. You guys demons?"

Marrioni stretches a bit, showing off her ball-joints. Oca just hangs back.

"So Miles, you seen enough of the Penguin wonderland?"

Nebula and Corona looked to each other and gave a shared somber nod, "You could say that," Nebula remarked, "To be honest, me and my sister were once parts of a much bigger daemon, our mother, but she splintered us off as a way to ensure that her power wouldn't fall into the wrong hands."

Miles looked over to Oca and nodded, "Yeah, to be honest, large, crowded places tend to make me a bit uncomfortable after a while."

"Yeah, let's go."

She seems to react a lot more strongly to the term 'daemon' than 'demon'.

"g-geez! don't go saying stuff like that, you might get…"

…

"*cough* You all should probably go for now."

Nebula and Corona simply nodded before letting Miles carry them off. Once they were far enough away, Miles had to ask, "What was that all about? She looked ready to have a panic attack when Nebula and Corona mentioned "Daemon" instead of just demon."

They TP outside.

"Well… demons are magically corrupted organisms which sometimes evolve into stable species. Or anti-kaioshins."

"Daemons are eldritch horrors who want to eat the universe."

He tries to think of the next destination.

Nebula shuddered at Oca's explanation, "Mom isn't like that though," Miles glanced down at his partner, "I was part of her for the longest time so I got to see a lot of what she thought of...she hated the very idea of devouring timelines so she and those like her tended to just drift through the void...until..."

"Until the Doctor did something that pulled your Mother out of the void and into my reality..." Miles finished as he gently stroked the duo to try and comfort them.

He shrugs.

"Well… daemons are like an order of life unto themselves. They are hella variable, and not all of them are the same… but on average they tend to be like that, and there are a lot of them."

"So… you guys wanna pick where to go next?"

Miles was quiet for a few moments, and then looked up at Oca, "I should probably head on back to the Arena with these two. I think what happened back there was...well, a bit too much for them to handle..."

He quirks an eyebrow, not quite seeing what he means but going along with it.

"Er, sure."

"Grab on."

"Thanks." Miles put a hand on Oca's shoulder.

*bawoop*

"Well, see ya. I have me some mutants to slaughter."

He teleports out.

Miles held the two to his chest with a smile, "Hey...even if what that lady said is true...I know for a fact that you guys are telling the truth."

"How, though?" Nebula asked, sniffling and wiping her face.

He patted them on the heads, "Because someone very important to me once said that children are born out of an act of love, not hate, and they're not an mistake either. If your mother was capable of that...then she must have had some level of goodness in her."

The two were silent but at least the sniffling had stopped as they held tight to their friend while he walked off...

Koryo stopped dead in his tracks with a somewhat surprised look on his face as the toothy beast fell before him. Dispelling his magics and sheathing his blade, he exhaled in a surprisingly relaxed manner. Then, he examined the beast's body, seemingly ignoring Calamitas' words in favor of looting her supposed brother. Even if the beast didn't have any useful items, at least he might learn a bit about these odd creatures.

After all, knowledge is power.

The tracks of boredom and urge to get a hobby or friend has once again gripped Allan’s mind as he quietly wandered around in unknown place with his hands inside pockets, his magics and other supernatural powers are unwoken, and most important to note was that he seemingly had little to no presence at all to the point one could think of him as nothing but a simple, ordinary bystander that was saying dumb things to himself.

“.... Maybe I should change my clothing to looker more cooler or something? Maybe like a red pullover hoodie, military pants, and some fingerless gloves? …. Nah, that sounds too boring and edgy for me.”
