I'm mostly hyped for alternative start positions - main reason I never played Empire before is because their start position didn't really interest me, especially since I played a lot of Vlad campaigns.

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. What, the fact that the Lord, no matter who it was, always started at Altdorf?
Yep, that's exactly it.
"What do we say to the God of Death? Sean Bean is over there."Which is understandable for the normal campaign, but Mortal Empires could really use having different starting areas for a more interesting early game.
But then again, both Volkmar and Balthasar's home base are in Altdorf, aren't they? Where else could they start in?
Didn't stop Kroq'Gar, Skarsnik or whats-his-name Benedict Cumberelf. they start where the game designers want them to start, and they'll come up with a reason later.

Kroq-Gar and Teclis are Warhammer 2 lords and the second game has a very different approach to overall faction design than the first one, with legendary lords getting their own sub-factions instead of one faction unlocking all of them.
Sub-faction lords in Warhammer 1 were more the exception - it usually came down to it being more fitting (Skarsnik and Belegar being embroiled in their conflict over Karak Eight Peaks, Wurrzag being more focused on savage orcs...). Meanwhile, where would you even put Gelt and Volkmar? Despite what some users have suggested, both of them are firmly associated with the Empire (i.e. the main faction).
It'd make more sense to add playable sub-faction lords (like the much requested Toddy) to the game.
Apropos of nothing, I currently have a New World Colonies campaign going on the Vortex map and it's a blast◊. I've been maintaining good relations with the Lizardmen, High Elves and basically any good faction I've stumbled upon. I've also mostly ignored Southern Lustria for now to expand north first - Morathi's already been wiped off the map and I might actually march for Naggarond as soon as possible.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Yeah, as the Supreme Patriarch of the Colleges of Magic, the Grand Theogonist of the Church of Sigmar, and the Emperor, it fits that all of them start in Altdorf.
If we had Todbringer as a Legendary Lord, him starting in Middenheim would be fine. But Todbringer is not a legendary lord.
I mean, he's semi-legendary.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. He has a bitchin' helmet, I accept him as a legendary lord.
In other news, fighting Dark Elf armies one on one as NWC is a pain in the neck, to the point that "Cult of Pleasure" really feels like false advertising - 'cause there's no pleasure in fighting those jerks.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. One Mortal Empires thing I want to do at some point is play a Dark Elf campaign where I take over all of Naggaroth, then invade Ulthuan, then after that launch an invasion into the Old World.
Finally the Empire gets archers. I wonder if the actual Empire will get these same units or if they're the Huntsmarshal's faction exclusively.
Oh my god, all of my yes.
Oh finally, the Empire is getting a rework too! With an actual Elector Count system that makes it easier to confederate!
Plus Empire forts! We've been missing this, especially in places like Helmgart. That'll make it way easier to deal with Beastmen from Bretonnia.

Where do they talk about the rework? It's not linked on the video itself.
It's in the FAQ.
Aah, there it is. Had to go to the Total War website itself.
I notice that Balthasar is getting a new starting position (and a new faction) thanks to the new province being added to the game. And this is right after we were talking about it here.
I'm looking forward to that new province and elector count system. That should make for a very interesting new kind of campaign.
Although I can't tell if the new province will be part of the Old World campaign or just Mortal Empires.
Solland was formerly its own Imperial province that got absorbed by Wissenland in the lore - so it's in the Old World.
Also these guys remind me of someone, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Funnily enough, I watched a video that talked about Solland only yesterday.
I think I'm looking forward most to the Imperial forts in the mountain passes. Both to attack them and defend them in epic sieges.
Players: "CA can we get Ubersreik Five (or four, doesn't matter)"
CA: "We have Ubersreik Five at home"
Ubersreik Five at home:
Sienna was probably not brought along due to environmental consciousness with regards to current events.

Another change that may or may not have been listed in the FAQ is Karl Franz's Empire faction being re-named Reikland. And you can SUMMON THE ELECTOR COUNTS!
This is amazing

"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnNow we just need to find out what the "Some Old Friends" FLC will be about - still hoping it's Toddy.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Yeah, Solland got absorbed into Wissenland because it was badly mauled and its Elector Count was killed during an Orc invasion in the past.
But yeah, now you're not going to be running as "The Empire", just whatever faction you're running as, which annoys me -_-.

No, that's just a Vermintide crossover teaser.
HOLY SIGMAR, BLESS THIS RAVAGED BODY!
That puts the long-awaited Empire campaign rework out of doubt then.
