It's a great showing from CA, I'm not entirely convinced that it manages to justify the $25 price tag but I bought the DLC for $17 so I'm definitely happy with this result.

Now all they need to do is give more information about Thrones of Decay so I can enjoy some of Nurgle's virulent goodness grin

New blog post about Tzeentch's new units.

  • First takeaway is that the patch will not be released this week as hoped by the dev team as they've found a few issues they need to handle, but it's still on track for February.

  • Chaos Lord of Tzeentch and Exalted Hero of Tzeentch to give a stronger frontline presence to the faction. People oft enjoy having melee commanders in addition to mages, so they'll be used to anchor frontlines that Tzeentch didn't have access to outside of demon lords. Both are anti-large, with the exalted hero being more of a damage dealer and the lord being more of a tank. The exalted hero's model is particularly disturbing, being a three-headed mutated humanoid monstrosity.

  • Marked centigors add a new cavalry option of anti-armor, magically-imbued and vanguard-deployed option for Tzeentch. They also have the same arcane charge ability as Tzaangors (which Rich once again expresses do not have beaks because that's an Age of Sigmar thing).

  • Changebringers are flamers on flying discs. Much faster on the move than normal flamers, they are, much like Vampire Coast deck droppers, ranged units who attack from above. They are extremely dangerous if allowed to act with impunity.

Kislev blog later this week.

You know, I'm actually surprised they haven't made the Khornate minotaurs available to Beastmen (or at least to Taurox) yet, considering Shadow of Change's Tzeentch-marked Beastmen units are.

Kislev update blog, release date confirmed as February 22nd (which is my birthday, so I take it as a personal gift from CA).

  • The blog starts with an explanation of why certain things expected by the community, like Hag Mother lords, the Ungor and Gospodar split, Mother Ustankya having a chicken-legged hut, etc., won't happen, which mostly comes down to 8th edition lore not containing those things with the usual implication that Games Workshop doesn't allow it.

  • New lore: Lore of hags. This lore functions differently than other lores in that when cast normally, they're hexes affecting enemy units but when overcast will buff your own units.

  • New lord: Druzhina. Lesser nobles who live in rural areas instead of the cities of Kislev, carrying both a greataxe and a bow. They increase missile damage for friendly units and replenish spent ammo.

  • Legendary hero: Naryska Leysa the Golden Knight. A fully armored warrior who protects her allies in the thick of combat and duels enemy lords and heroes. The more damaged she is, the better her allies fight to match her determination.

  • New units: Kislevite warriors and Frost Wyrms. The warriors are low-tier, cheap units that serve a purpose that Kislev lacked until now, an expendable frontline unit that is only meant to hold the line and be a screen for more dedicated ranged units. The frost wyrm is a terrifying flightless reptile of comparable power to Dark elf war hydras or Lizardmen stegadons. It has frostbite attacks and can serve as a mount for Kataryn and Ice witches.

  • Free LC: Ice Court sled, Kataryn's iconic mount. It's quick, it's heavy, and it has a couple of bodyguards on it so that Kataryn even has additional ranged firepower when riding it around the battlefield.

As a Bretonnia fan, i am forever jealous of all the attention the other races are getting. Their own unique Lore of Magic! More units! More Lords!
Oh well, it does seem liek good additions to Kislev, even if i'm bemused by the ice wyrms.

So, Kislev is still one of the few races with no flying units. Some people hoped for Frost Fiends instead of Wyrms.

Weren't Frost Wyrms a Norsca thing, though?

[up] They posted a lore bit regarding this one. Norskan ones are sort of lesser species comparing to ones Kislev has.

Lesser? They're the ones with wings.

[up][up] They also renamed the Norskan ones to Norskan Chaos Dragons or something, which is more in line with how they look.

Lesser? They're the ones with wings.

Wings aren't necessarily a sign of superiority. Just ask the Dragons of Lustria tongue

I'm thinking of playing Total Warhammer and I've noticed in the Steam Page that the DLC for the Vampire Coast and Tomb Kings require either Total Warhammer 2 or Total Warhammer 3. Are they playable in campaign mode in Total Warhammer 3 or only in Total Warhammer 2?

They are playable in Total Warhammer 3 alone, yes, in the Immortal Empire campaign.

Ok thanks. So the Immortal Empires campaign mode, from how I'm understanding it, the entire Old World is the campaign map?

The Old World is the continent that contains the Empire, the Dwarfs, Kislev, Bretonnia, Athel Loren... Basically the analog to Europe.

Immortal Empires is the entire setting's world map, from the New World (Americas) to Cathay (China), missing only the landmasses of Ind and Kuresh.

Got it. So Total Warhammer 3 it is by either the Steam Spring Sale or Summer Sale (depending on the budget). Thanks for the info.

Patch 4.2.0 is now out.

TLDR: The new units already revealed

  • Lizardmen buffs across the board
  • Rampage rework to be consistent and less random
  • Bloom effects toned down
  • Corruption display on world map got smoothed out
  • Kislev buffs with the addition of Glorious charge rules from tabletop
  • Cathay Tech Tree Changes
  • Bug fixes

Thrones of Decay trailer has arrived! And boy do we have a lot to enjoy in it~

Legendary lords are Elspeth von Draken for the Empire, Malakai Makaisson for the Dwarfs and Tamurkhan for Nurgle. Showcase units are zeppelins, ranged slayers and a war machine that throws axes for the Dwarfs, snipers, some kind of elite demigryph and the landship (a modified steam tank) for the Empire, and a huge disgusting beast, a knight mounted on something that looks like a plagued wolf and a nurgling-lifted chariot-like thing for Nurgle.

Full update list for anyone who have not seen it:

Empire:

LL: Elseph von Draken (Death caster on big ass dragon) LH: Theodore Bruckner (duelist type hero with unique demigryph mount) Lord: Empire Master Engineer (engeneer type lord with meha-horse and, maybe, steram tank mount) Hero: Empire Engineer (similar but hero version) Units: Ironsides (armoured gunners with repeater rifles), Hochland Long Rifles (jezzail-type sniper infantry), Steam Tank Volley Gun (like normal steram tank but anty-infantry instead of generalist and with shorter range), Marienburg-class landship (like steam-tank buit more tanky in meelee or huge SE war-vagon with cannons), Knioghts of the Rose (very scary heavy cav)

Also 3 Ro Rs: spearmen, long rifles and landship.

Dwarfes:

LL: Malakai Makinson (Slayer engeneer dude with repeter rifle, great weapon and personmal zeppelin) LH: Garagrim Ironfist (son of Ungrim, probably a glass canon type hero with buffs for Slayers) Lord: Deamonslayer (Slayer lord, nuff said, probably really good againt large foes) Hero: Dragonslayer (the same but hero) Units: Doomseekers (super nuts Slayers with double-axes on chains, may have aqn ability similar to NG fanatics), Slayer pirates (yeah, you are hearing it right, Slayers with pistols an d sword-clubs), Goblin-hewer (artillery that shoots a lot of axes in the foe and with Slayers crew), Thunderers with grudgerackers (similar to Chaos Dwarfes blunderbusses), Thunderbarge (a battle zeppelin, like Sky junk but bigger, more badass and with a pub)

Also 3 Ro Rs: doomseekers, grudgerackers and pirates (most probably Long Drong Pirates)

Nurgle:

LL: Tamurkhan (giant parazyte in a body of dead ogre on a unique toad-dragon) LL (FLC): Epudemius (Herald of Nurgle LL, should have a whole klot of army buffs but subpar combat abilities) LH: Kayzk the Befouled (melee hero on rot beast i.e. Nurgle doggo-like monster) Lord Chaos Lord of Nurgle (just your very tanky meelee lord probably) Hero Chaos Sorcerror of Nurgle (mortal nurgle caster) Units: Plague Ogres (like normal ogres but Nurgle-mutated, appartenly teo options: nuormal and great weapon), Bile Trolls (will have either a ranged attack of sort or some other damage ability), Pestigores (with grteat weapons and, probably, some ability), Rot Knights (cav on rot beasts), Toad Dragons (SEM akin to Dread Saurian, slow but big and tanky)

Also 3 Ro Rs: Plague drones, rot knights andsoul grinder.

There is also FLC hero listed (people bet on Golden Wizard for Empire) and Nemesis Crown (new feature similar to Sword of Khaine).

Also, according to devs we will get proper faction reworks this time. But we'll see.

Not sure if Slayers are really what the dwarfs need to keep up with their fallen cousins.
