...even I can come up stuff better than these.
Japanese mecha animation is like prime time comedy animation in the West. Everything's been done already. (i.e. "The Simpsons Did It" syndrome)
No, I actually have an anime-style original story concept that doesn't rip off any existing animes.
The concepts above all feel as if they're trying to force a downer ending, a bittersweet ending, an esoteric happy ending, or any permutation of these.
This is a marketing stunt, not an attempt to produce something interesting
With his being a dick to anything modern while proving his style just doesn't work well with modern audiences, as usual recently.
Watch SymphogearBut the point is that, if one wins, the winning entry gets to be an anime.
It's just... the way they've set it up is terrible at gauging interest, but very good at encouraging people to spread the word
None of these are interesting plot-wise.
I take it the actual production will be better budgeted than these previews? Because so far the animation quality here is crap.
Anyway, I'm partial to 4, it looks like the most fun and has easily the best art style. The other contender is 5, which sounds like it could be done in a really interesting way (although it could just as easily be completely fucked up if the writing and directing are sub-par). None of the others sounds as appealing as those two.

"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelEnthusiast looks like the best one out of all of them, but Star Storks looks interestin' concept and design wise.
GIVE ME YOUR FACESo, has anyone ever joined the old mecha anime genre with the old "turned against their masters" thing? I don't think I know of an anime with mechas literally rebelling against their creators.
Then there would be no pilots, it's just a humans vs robots thing, but still...
ERROR: Signature not loadedConsidering mecha aren't generally supposed to be on autopilot... probably not.
but HOW?Sorry to re-start this thread, but we have a winner. Read here for details.
Contest for new mecha ideas
Smartphone novel production company Every Star began streaming five promotional videos for the finalists in its "Bokutachi no Mitai Mecha Anime o Tsukurou Seisaku Iinkai" ('Let's make the mecha anime we want to see' production committee), or "Mecha Tsuku" for short, contest on Sunday.
