I wouldn't mind another trip to Cyrodiil. I'd prefer somewhere else if for nothing more than to get something new, but I'd be okay with another go in the heart of the empire — whether in a full game or in just in DLC.
#IceBearForPresidentAs a DLC, it'd be okay. Honestly, it'd be cool if there was a DLC for each land in the Empire that adds to the story.
I wouldn't mind a trip to Cyrodiil - as long as it was a stepping stone to the Summerset Isle so we can slaughter the Thalmor scum.
I'd prefer that Valenwood/Summerset Isle combo. That should keep things relatively within the boundaries of medieval fantasy, just with a slant towards an elf/magic emphasis, wouldn't it? I mean, the setting of Skyrim itself wasn't just the stereotypical medieval fantasy, it was standard fantasy with a slant towards the viking-inspired elements thereof.
Good point. Again, all this is speculation anyway so I am making many assumptions to begin with. I may end up pleasantly surprised. Regardless of the setting, we can be pretty sure that any new TES game will rock, if the previous 3 games were any indication. Videogame development cycles being what they are, we’re probably going to be getting confirmations on the setting soon. It’s been, what, over 3 years since Skyrim?
I don't know about that. Bethesda is most likely going to do Fallout 4 first (they did 3 between Oblivion and Skyrim) and we still don't have any solid details on that.
this place needs me hereFour years since new vegas, six since three. I'm wondering if the new consoles are to blame.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?True, though between Oblivion (2006) and Skyrim (2011) there was 5 years and we had started getting trailers for Skyrim in 2010 so maybe the pattern will hold true and we'll get an annoucement for the next TES by the end of this year.
I think there's more rumors and murmuring about Fallout 4 at this time, so if ZeniMax/Bethesda Game Studios were to announce a game any time soon and I were forced to place a monetary bet on what it'd be, I'd opt for that.
(I must confess I still find it amusing they're called "Bethesda" when they now operate in Rockville/Gaithersburg instead.)
Moon◊Honestly, I'm a bit more excited for whatever new engine Bethesda cooks up. I doubt they'll still be using the Creation Engine for next-gen systems, and that'll definitely really spice things up for both FO 4 and TESVI. Even though mods add a lot of diversity to Bethesda games, you can really feel the limitations of the engine sometimes.
I hope they don't use Creation. It's just Gamebryo with some bits bolted on top of it after all the shouting's done, and it is sure as heck showing its age. But game engines aren't cheap to develop, and it could be more cost-effective for Bethesda just to re-jig Creation rather than build another from the ground up or go to the expensive expense of licensing something from a third-party developer.
I don't think that whatever engine they bring out will NOT support modding - they would be categorically insane not to have a full set of modding tools for folks to use with the game on Day One for the PC version. If they did leave it out of the game, the amount of slagging they would get would be huge if they did make that omission.
Am i the only one hoping for Akavir? New races, new weapons (imagine being able to FORGE katana this time around, or using kyu bows) DRAGONS again...
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI'd like us to go back to High Rock. I never played Daggerfall and the Breton style armor in ESO looks cool.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.hammerfell 4 lyfe
I'd be fine with creation again. A bit of experience in the engine and they can make things a little better looking and maybe even have multi-event flags correctly spring so you can actually fucking talk to the useless steward and move the damn plot forward instead of just marking the quest complete and giving yourself the necromancer's amulet.
On second thought maybe a new engine isn't such a bad idea.
Especially since any game set in hammerfell's gotta have some ships in it. You know you wanna have a pirate guild.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote? With mods, you can already forge your own katanas in Skyrim. Ones that are enchanted, or bare of enchantments so that you can put your own killy things on them.
I just hope the game keeps the focus on the second Great War and moves further south. High Rock and especially Akavir (which is almost totally isolated from the rest of the world, it might be okay for a DLC) would just feel like wastes of potential. Maybe a Valenwood/Elsswehr combo, considering those two provinces are a bit small?

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. Why does everyone insist that the next game should be set in Akavir? Seriously, when TESV first got announced, everyone theorised it would be Akavir for no particular reason, and now that's happening all over again with TESVI. We haven't even explored every province of Tamriel in detail yet, save Akavir for when the series is ready.
Well, for one thing, Akavir has a VI in its name.
TES VI : Akavir was announced as an April Fool in 2013, so that's probably not happening.
A Valenwood/Elsweyr combo (or at least the frontier region) would be quite interesting. They are part of the Aldmeri Dominion after all, and it looks like the next few game will more or less revolve around the Thalmor.
The size argument isn't very meaningful though, since all the game world will be scaled down anyway.

Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a choreTime to necro this thread and strike the Argonia from the title, because Bethesda has revealed it is under development.
THIS IS REAL
THE ELDER SCROLLS VI IS FUCKING REAL
HYYYYYYYYYYYPEEEEEEE
Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...Any guesses on where it will be set?
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"I think I woke up my neighbour in glee
People on the internet seem to think this is either Hammerfell or High Rock. Any takers?
One thing for sure... it shall be elsewhere.
Yeah I really hope they don’t do Cyrodill again.
I’m just worried that with the success of Skyrim, they decide to play it safe for their next game and use another standard European Fantasy setting.
All I want is to be able fight a Djinn on camel-back in a desert. Is that so much to ask Bethesda? :-P
