They did in Alpha. But I guess Alpha's a bit of a weird case overall.
Speaking of Alpha, after Charlie I want to see more Alpha characters. Mika maybe? Please?
Too old, not kawaii enough.
But yeah she would be ace, I loved Mika when I was little.
We're LONG overdue for a Fillipino fighter though.
If Chun Li took down Bison, as III suggests, shouldn't she be like the Commissioner or Chief Inspector for all of China by now? Maybe she could get a proper formal police outfit celebrating that.
Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger than YoursFor a while I've wanted a West African character who uses Dambe. I figure that'd be an interesting fighting style for this series.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Dambe I never heard of and I highly doubt anyone has.
But that's what makes it interesting, just like how turkish oil wrestling was this totally obscure thing few outside Turkey knew about.
Oh nevermind I heard of this before, huh kind of looks like silat + kickboxing stance wise.
Also the lack of an aussie fighter seems so weird. We got one from every human continent EXCEPT Australia.
And Antarctica. Somewhere on the frozen continent, there's a brash young fighter - trained in the art of Penguin Fu - ready to take on the world... but held back by the fact that nobody seems to ever sent tournament invites that far South...
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Well technically you can't be from Antarctica since it's not a governed nation. I actually had a friend whose parents were scientists and he was born there, but his nationality was recognized as American.
nyo ho hoThat's really awesome actually.
If you ask me, based off this, Charlie has already been teased before.
His theme is cool and Charlie is cool, so it's pretty cool to see him back.
Honestly, with all the stuff with Guile and Abel in IV I expected him back in Super or Ultra but I guess they saved him for V.
Also, you know who I need as a new character? That random kid from IV that Balrog saved. Anybody remember him? I'd love it he was a Rock Howard-ish character. Like he's a unique character but has some Bison flavored moves. The Psycho power will live on!!!
Louder than God's revolver and twice as shiny.So....
Nobody thinks Noodle Hat Chun-Li is funny?
No one at all?
Cause it cracked me up.
One Strip! One Strip!Truly one for the Funny Crowners.
I hope there's more amusing stuff that can get stuck on characters' heads in other stages. AND they'd better stay there in their win poses.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefChip damage on normals... I'm not sure how I feel about this.
Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity. But no chip knockouts, apparently.
Louder than God's revolver and twice as shiny.A natural adjustment. With chipping normals, it becomes considerably easier to whittle someone down, so the removal of "chip-outs" becomes a necessary move.
There's also the fact that everything seems to just have more hits now. Ryu's fireball is a three hit move now. It's a... curious change. I have my "old man" reservations, but we shall see.
Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity.~ Known Unknown On the topic of a fighter using Dambe. Another black character who boxes? Between Dee Jay, Dudly, and Balrog I feel as if we're being a little pigeon holed here.

To be fair, Street Fighter has never been the most shining example of being above stereotypes.
Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity.Doesn't mean they should keep relying on them.
I don't think it would be right to put a Dambe user in the same category as Dudley and Balrog - at least in the sense that they could be considered different shades of the same idea. Dambe's a kind of boxing, yeah, but that doesn't mean they're the same fighting style.

In terms of the new characters, some supposedly leaked detail was posted on Neo GAF last night http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=143302117&postcount=1076
Rachid - North Africa (specific country TBC, but likely Morocco with a name like that) Laura - Brazil (capoeirista?) Zen - India (seems like a pretty generic "Buddhist" name?)
What do you all think? Interesting (if it's true) that they've opened up Africa for more characters.
4 new characters is about what I was expecting. Of course I can't really say one thing or another until I see the characters and then, not until I play them can I really speak definitively. I don't really know much about fighting styles to speak about potential. What I will say is the inclusion of a new Brazilian fighter sounds like a good way to bring Sean back, and maybe Oro.
nyo ho ho
They never change outfits in Street Fighter unless you pay them extra.
