I never watched Breaking Bad so I'm probably not going to watch this either. Pity, it will probably get good reviews and stuff.
...what?
I'm curious whether this will be a "flashback" Saul's having, or an honest prequel. I wonder if it'll do as well with Saul's ultimate fate being known. How "honest" was he before he met Walter White, and how long can you keep that interesting?
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).I get the feeling that Saul has always been some kind of a "criminal lawyer".
I was never really fond of the running theme, that every villain is a former good guy who 'broke bad'. I prefer the overall menace of a U.S.A. where everyone is a criminal, they have to be if they want to succeed. If Saul turns out to be a doe-dyed Anakin Skywalker in his youth, well, that's not easy to swallow.
I'm a skeptical squirrelJohnny is that seriously the impression you get if the BB universe? Guys like Walt, Saul etc were surely never really good as such. Granted, I take the negative view on the formers pre-show past.Okay there's Mike but he's an exception, not the rule.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username. Also I think it would be a bit challenging to make Saul seem younger, as the actor was already middle-aged when he first appeared on Breaking Bad.
I agree I always imagined that Saul was dishonest for most of his career now how dishonest is open to interpretation.
All of time and space, anywhere and everywhere, any star that ever was. Where do you want to start?I wonder when this show will come out on Netflix...
How much can Saul change? A large part of Breaking Bad's appeal is how we see Walter White, the picture of mildness, become this Crazy Badass druglord, isn't it? Watching his transformation. If Saul was "always" a criminal, how much does he really change before Breaking Bad starts - where he's reasonably well-off, running his own law firm, if not in the back pocket of an even bigger druglord?
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Fixing parking tickets. A slippery slope to murder and mayhem.
I'm a skeptical squirrelI only think a Saul show would be fun if he was always a slimeball laywer willing to do anything for a quick buck. Morally, he should be someone that started at rock bottom and reached for a jackhammer.
Man, this, Walking Dead, Breaking Bad. Super popular shows and yet their threads barely have any traffic. The f'ck?
So the premiere is on now and I knew in the first 40 seconds that was Bob Odenkirk with a mustache. I like how they're building Saul. Judging from the way that Call-Forward worked, and Saul's line about "being 19 again", the Call-Forward theme this season is squandered youth.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Holy Shit was that Tuco Salamanca?
Yes.
It's great to see Saul again, and a few members of the BB cast making a return. I really had a lot of fun with this episode.
Is not impressed.HOLY SHIT THAT EPISODE.
THAT ENDING.
Yeah that... that was surprising.
Huh. You know I always felt that they could've done more with Tuco, like he was the "Villain Of Another Story" or something. Walt, like with pretty much everyone he meets, just stumbled into the guy's office and things spiraled from there. Tuco got his just desserts, but still.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).From my understanding he was supposed to be the main villain or at least one for a longer time period but something happened (I think his father was sick or something?) that had him pull out of the series. Explains why he was so developed.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote? That and he was uncomfortable playing the role, it's possible that with 7 years less meth Tuco is a bit less crazy.
The show is good so far. I think it will do well.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.
Great. So he's mentally stable and immortal.
(x3) Interesting, I'll have to check that.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).I'm pretty sure that "Nacho" was the motion capture/voice actor for Vaas. Even the voice and clothing color is uncanny.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).He was dressed in red like Vaas.
Shame he didn't keep the accent.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Yeah, Nacho is played by Michael Mando, who mo'capped and voiced Vaas. He's also Vic the Dick in Orphan Black.

I thought I recognized him! If things go in the direction I'm thinking they are, then he'll make an interesting antagonist for Saul/Jimmy.
Is not impressed.
An upcoming spin-off of Breaking Bad due to air in 2015. As I don't have cable TV, I'll probably have to wait for it on Netflix. Does anyone have thoughts on this?
