Honestly, the only Hero I felt was OP during the initial release was Doomfist and Brigitte. And by initial release, I mean first few weeks.

With Sombra and Orisa, there was never a single second that made me think either of them was OP. [lol]evil grin

I'm starting to think that Widowmaker is a bit too strong right now. But not for her own merits

Dive isn't prevalent anymore and if the player is really good, there is nothing you can do except have a better widow. That's not good if you ask me. Winston and D.Va have lost effectiveness now that Brigitte is a thing.

Hanzo is stronger for now but once he is taken care of, Widowmaker will remain strong anyway. She was strong even when Dive was prevalent.

So what to do? Rework so her impact is not as inconsistant? (considering that in bronze she is trash and the higher you go the more op she becomes)

I think Hanzo is more of an issue then Widow at the moment but she is indeed an issue as there is literally nothing you can do against an good Widow that has a Mercy glued to their ass and a enemy team enabling them. People say other heroes are not fun to play against but good Widows are usually not fun to fight at all.

The problem though is if they try to nerf her or change her and go about it wrong they could easily render her useless. The fact they have managed to break less aim intensive heroes with changes doesn't give me high hopes on how they could handle Widow.

I think the best bet at the moment is to nerf Hanzo until he's less oppressive and see how Hammond effects Widow. Hammond's another dive tank that can harass her and doesn't have an headshot hitbox most of the time so she might get hit hard by him.

Don't barrier tanks basically render Widow useless?

Hanzo can usually make quick worth of barrier tanks.

[up][up] Theoretically, in a vacuum. In reality a good widow can just reposition herself with a good hook while the rest of the team forces the tank to face away from her.

My main issue with widow is that her jump animation makes her too hard to hit which makes it really hard for projectile based flankers to quickly take care of her.

I also really don't get why they had to give her that assault rifle mode.

[up]Pretty much this, I still say we should try to see if Hammond can make a mark on her at all. I do know that he can give her a hard time if played right.

I think they should buff Widow so much no one wants to play fucking Pharah anymore. As long as that piece of shit hero is in the game she needs a hard counter that hopefully drives Pharah players away from the game for good. The less she is played the more fun I will have.

  • Discord orb + focus fire
  • A half-decent Ana
  • Buildings with ceilings
  • A DPS that can kill her team faster than Pharah can kill theirs

All perfectly good Pharah counters.

Not a good Pharah counter: bitching.

Pharah is one of my DPS mains.

I am pretty used to hearing this kind of rudeness.

Hanzo is the only character I feel is too strong. Just like with Mercy, they reworked an annoying ability to a crazy-good ability and then he'll be nerfed to "viable but not really fun." Widowmaker is strong as well but I feel that she has a lot of barriers to entry and not newbie friendly at all so I feel that's balanced.

Never got the complaints over Pharah. Just pick Mc Cree and Soldier or Tjorbon to make sure she stays grounded.

yeah, pharah's a bit like bastion imo, she's only a problem if no one in the team knows how to counter it or if nobody WANTS to counter it. Even half-awake and playing reinhardt, I can just firestrike her if the environment allows it.

You can walk up to Bastion. He's also stationary and rather big so I can even hit him from afar sometimes. You can't walk up to Pharah. "Just take Soldier or Mc Cree" is useless advice if I can't hit her. The only time I can kill her is when she ults and stands still for a few seconds. Or when I'm Mercy and ulting, because then I can get in her face.

Yeah, she's not a problem if you can aim. But I can't.

I mean, you could just do what I do and just not play FPS games because I'm bad at them. Or you could ask your teammates to take care of her for you, that might work too.

Pharah herself is killable. Add a mercy and it becomes really hard.

The only reliable non-ult would be Widowmaker but you have to be good with her.

Other less aim-intensive counter would be D.Va since she can fly to her face and shoot her but you will need follow up to kill her

[up][up]Yeah, in competitive she isn't so much a problem when you have an actual team. Quickplay on the other hand...

Mystery Heroes is the worst of course but that one isn't usable for a fair assessment of any character.

People tend to conflate countering a character with killing a character.

One possible counter for Pharmercy is indeed to use a Widow or Discord + focus fire to kill the Pharah faster than the Mercy can heal her. It takes a lot of aim, but it can be done.

Another is to deny the Pharmercy's value by taking positions that Pharah's rockets can't easily hit and then murdering the rest of the enemy team 6-on-4.

Another is to use a character like D.Va who can eat most of Pharah's rockets, and a character like Moira who can easily heal up whatever gets through and convert that damage into ult charge.

Just because you can't aim well enough to headshot a Pharah with Widow doesn't mean you're out of options.

So let's use Brigitte as another balance hot topic. How many counters does she have?

All of Brigitte's value involves getting within melee range of the enemy.

Pick long-range characters, murder her before she can get close.

Characters with splash damage that can harm her even with her shield deployed, like Pharah and Junkrat, are especially good.

Mcree's flash bombs can get her, too, of they got the right way.

Bastion can eat through her shield in no time. In close combat, Roadhog can hook her if she is wailing on him and has enough health to maybe survive a fight. Reaper doesn't fare too bad either.

If Hanzo didn't exist right now, Brigitte wouldn't be so strong. Whenever she is ran anyway.

I like how people claim she is braindead easy to use but whenver i get queued with a Brigitte she has zero game awareness and does a terrible job protecting the backline.

You've got to be careful with brawlers like Road and Reaper.

Roadhog has the damage to be a threat and the sustain to be hard to kill, but don't use Take a Breather within shield bash range or you'll get interrupted and waste a valuable cooldown.

Reaper is similarly vulnerable to shield bash; you've got to wait until Brig is occupied with someone else before closing in and bursting her down.
