Based off of the trailer, looks like the new Kunimistu is the original's daughter.

Seems weird to decide that Kunimitsu to finally have a successor. This character feels like she should've been a thing since Tekken 3. Better than late than never I guess. I wonder if this will help her with popularity issue?
That's correct, unlike the Soul Calibur lore Tekken Yoshimitsu never died.

It's Tekken, so we knew they weren't gonna bring back a middle aged female character without a plot contrivance to explain why she still looks 21.
...
She's Just Kasumi going through a Emo/Punk Phase
IT'S YA GIRL! ...'s daughter. Still looking fine though. And apparently beauty marks are genetic, and just change where they are in relation to the mouth.
That's more Soul Calibur than Tekken.
I thought DOA already had a couple versions of that.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyAnd yet I still await Jun Kazama's return from the war.
Damn Yoshi!
You got punked and bad! She walked all over you man!
You should be disappointed in yourself! You should just lay on the ground feeling bad! That's where you deserve to be!
One Strip! One Strip!I mean, Master Raven seems to have got it worse.
Jun is my only other heavily wanted character. So the way speculation was going, I was likely going to be happy either way with this first reveal.
I'd love to see Miharu, Christie, or Michelle back, but those are super long shots. Hmm. Once I get a better computer to run the game (or go back to playing Tag 2 more), I was thinking of making Kazuya one of my mains, but I really seem to heavily prefer female characters, huh? Alright, maybe I'd like Raven Classic back, too.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyNo Kasumi just has super villain clones
Frankly, Tekken does it with nearly the same frequency. The only two returning women from Tekken 1/2 in Tekken 3 went through some kind of cryostasis for no reason other than to keep them young. Kazumi is almost a generation younger than Heihachi, died young and is only canonically present in flashbacks. The only two women officially older than 30 (Jun, Michelle, OG Kunimitsu) have only been playable in the non canon Tag games since the time jump, and are only that old thanks to said jump (all new additions since then have either been young or "unknown"). in Tag 2 all three look like cover models (not that that's an unusual thing for women of 40+, but it speaks to Bamco's limited range of what looks acceptable) and Michelle in particular has had her features so homogenized and otherwise filed off that she looks more like Julia's long-lost sister.
this place needs me here,Fair enough.
Man, fighting games are pretty much just like every other media in setting unrealistic expectations for women's looks.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI think Mortal Kombat is the only fighting game that has no issue with middle-aged that actually look their age and even that is a recent thing with that franchise.
And now I'm picturing a crossover where everyone is staring at Sonya and going, "That's what a woman in her 50s looks like in your world?".
Still waiting for Anna to meet Steve.
My mistake. Edited.

Ryuhza alluded to Nina and Anna with "The only two returning women from Tekken 1/2 in Tekken 3 went through some kind of cryostasis for no reason other than to keep them young".

Anyway, anyone get Soul Calibur vibes from whatever that glowing blue blade Kunimitsu has in her Super?
It didn't come to my mind immediately. Then again, Soul Calibur and Tekken are made by the same company so I guess that's to be expected.
It feels kind of weird seeing her forearm and shin coverings as flexible material and not hard armor like it was in Tag 2.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyShe seems to be a much better fighter than her mother... whatever the "skill levels" in Tekken are, I vaguely recall Yoshimitsu beating her. Yoshimitsu may have been beaten by Blade in either story mode. Master Raven is Raven's superior. And now she's beaten by someone trained by Yoshimitsu's former... student? Lieutenant?

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).I'm pretty sure she was just an underling, but don't quote me on that.
Either way, I still miss Raven
- Asuka's trying to show Lili one of the reasons why she's my main?
- Lol, Fahkumram with the Les Miserables reference.
...don't tell Kenny but Eddie made it into the image
I just saw that and oh no.
Yoshimitsu has remained the same person—as far as we're told—throughout Tekken. You may be thinking of Soul Calibur's Yoshimitsu, who had a successor after the time skip in V. That itself has been reverted with the timeline reboot in VI.
Kind of bummed about only two characters in season 4. I'm still hoping for the Roger/Alex style to return, as it's one of the few really unique ones from classic Tekken still missing from 7, but I don't see that happening in a two-character season. Also makes it seem like this season is the last if they're cutting the scope.
