The Seven Deadly Sins (Nanatsu no Taizai)

Zeldris wasn't that much of a jackass. A lot of his stuff he did is also offscreen, which uh makes it easier for him to be redeemed. Unlike a lot of other demons who went around killing people all willy nilly.

The one who was a nonstop jackass was Brainwashed Mael.

The problem is that despite that he's boring and doesn't have much to him beyond being Melodias little brother. Like finding out he wanted to make the Demon World a better place is out of nowhere characterization because he hadn't done enough with him to make it believable before it.

We did see him do a lot of bad things on screen while commanding all the other demons to do awful things.

Yes Estarosa was worse, but he was pretty much the worst guy in the series.

Again, the existence of the magic lake of plot convenience makes the whole "eat the souls of people" ultimately pointless, since the bloody thing has enough juice to recharge 50% of the DK's power. Maybe more.

It's the Lady of the Lake's lake to be exact, she must be feeling kinda nettled about all the assholes waging war on it.

Zel’s major problem is that for the longest time is that he never did anything especially compared Mael at the time Estarossa so he came across as the most boring & inactive of Mel’s brothers.

We only started learning about him right when he pulled that Nebula shit & it still wasn’t very interesting since the bulk of his character is just less-powerful younger dutiful brother & he has a Lost Lenore neither of which was developed enough to make him anymore interesting.

Shit Monspiet’s & Derriere’s relationship had more development & nuance than Zel & Gelda’s.

Boy is the Arthurian mythology just tacked on at this point.

Tbf from what Ive seen of Gelda I already like her more than Elizabeth.

She needed more screentime though.

Zeldris attempted to lead a genocide and was having his followers run rampant, devouring souls.

Don't feel bad for him. At all. Nothing has remotely indicated he's at all remorseful.

This series has a terrible case of Protagonist-Centered Morality. Even by the standards of Shonen Manga.

I don't get why a Toxic Masculinity Incarnate being like the Demon King would let his second son have emotions like that.

Or why civillian demons were allowed to be a thing when he hates things like peace and love and shit.

I don't think he really approved of Zeldris loving Gelda. That's part of why he had Zeldris personally deal with the rebellious Vampires, I think.

As for why he didn't try harder to hollow out Zeldris like he did with Meliodas...that's probably because Meliodas was his first choice for a new body.

The civilian Demons were probably a thing for no other reason than a need for a workforce to support the troops.

Again, Zeldris was probably granted a bit more leeway since he wasn't Daddy's first choice of a future host body.

The demon king doesn't strike me as the type who would just let Zeldris be. Didn't he have kids for the very purpose of restoring his body, hence the Commandments and letting both of his kids in those Commandments?

Spoilers out, Diane is actually doing stuff, the series must be ending.

Chapter out:

Diane almost does something. And the effort is so great, the author had to take a week off before he can show us what it is.

She make a big arena for Escanor to show off more. So her spotlight literally been stolen by Escanor.

Diane's big moment is making the table to serve Escanor's and Meliodas's dinner on.

It's kind of hilarious how much the Demons and Goddesses outclass every other race.

And even the legendary sword infused with the souls of Humanity's greatest heroes literally trembles in the presence of powerful demons.

I'd say demons are the most ridiculous of them all.

I've got to admire Demon King mental fortitude. Where does a guy who gets smacked down every time he says something gets all that confidence from?

Good on Diane for doing something useful for once. But enough of that, it's time for Escannor hype chapter #86.

To be fair he still isn't very damaged. The sins got some scratches at least.
