I'm surprised that these two lasted this long without jobbing, honestly.

I mean, to be fair to the author, they have been hyped up as the two strongest demons and they actually have shown to count as that oddly enough [lol]

Started the anime for this and, uncharacteristically, found it very easy to binge. It's taken me months to finish anime series of similar length before (I'm in season 3 now), but it only took me a couple weeks here. I was in the mood for some uncomplicated, entertaining battle shonen and this delivered pretty well on that front. The Experienced Protagonist was a nice change of pace and did a good job of keeping me interested in what might have otherwise seemed pretty cookie-cutter. Gonna finish the anime and then catch up with the manga. Anyone know what the episode-chapter correspondence is at?

Yeah, the Experienced Protagonist element was the thing that hooked me into the series at first. It's rare in a battle shonen for the main cast of characters to already be infamous as the most powerful warriors in the setting, and yet the series managed to avoid the usual pitfalls of overpowered main characters and give them real challenges and obstacles to overcome.

Granted, that all changed when the Ten Commandments showed up.

Mind you, the inconsistent power levels are a bit irking. Feels like a character might win or job at any moment for no apparent reason — the general competence of the Sins seesaws all over the place (again, first season here).

They add actual numbers and it gets even more all over the place.

Power levels does not belong in this setting.

Numbers are too advanced for medieval folk.

I mean, it kind of did that, but the longer the series has gone on, the less those obstacles actually make sense.

Guilla being able to easily handle Meliodas, Diane, and Ban at the same time, in particular, frankly makes no sense even if none of them seemed really hurt by her in that first fight.

Yeah, that. Getting too hung up about power levels is always a losing battle, but it's still pretty galling how a character's fighting prowess might skyrocket or plummet with no rhyme or reason. Ban gets hit pretty hard by this, in particular.

Yeah, but Ban's just a filthy human, so that's to expected (notice, don't expect most human characters to amount to anything).

Ban tends to allow himself to get the shit kicked out of him, just to show off his immortality and intimidate the person attacking him. It's not like Ban is usually trying very hard to avoid or block attacks.

Well, it's hard to tell when they're actually jobbing. Like, in most of the fights up till now there's a giant unspoken assumption that Meliodas isn't even trying very hard, even when he's getting the shit kicked out of him. So when they talk up Ban and Meliodas as being the best fighters of the seven and they duke it out on equal terms I'm not sure if next episode won't have Ban splattered over three walls and the ceiling by someone who can't even get Meliodas to stop grinning.

Ya think he’d be a lot more dangerous with that broken-ass power of his.

Also King’s broken-ass power.

What is wrong with the people in this show not using their broken-ass powers correctly?!

Ah the greatest of impediments.

Though King’s power is just utterly bizarre because all he does with it is manipulate his spear which you can easily substitute for telekinesis or something similar.

Chapter 291: Merlin is scary. There was nothing those two could do. She always has a trick up her sleeve, like a magic Batman.

We're finally catching up with the time-frame. The memory spell is coming undone.
