Chapter out.
Power levels don't matter, honest!
Except when they do!
Secret SignatureWow. So Strong. Much powerlevels.
Those two are far above the likes of Ten Commandments."
Okay, but why some two random asshats are much stronger than people who Demon King personally chosen to give pieces of his power to. What's even the point of Ten Commandments if some random guys are so much better than them?
The power level inflation is just out of control.

So why is Merlin even there? She was never actually that impressive.
Also, I can get these two being stronger than the Ten Commandments. They give off a kind of 'royal guard/retired vet' feeling, but 150k+ is a little excessive of a jump. And then Rudy here is over 200k, sure, whatever you say. Also, like, we already know how strong Zeldoris was. It wasn't that impressive. These numbers don't mean anything.
Power Levels were a mistake.
Not just in general, it really was a gigantic mistake to put them in this series.
They add absolutely nothing & are nothing more than a detriment & a burden on this series.
Well the narrative loves her, that’s why.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It's not like I hate her, but she totally undermines the power levels meaning anything when hers was like 5k.
Everyone getting nonsensical power ups, why not her.
Also, I'm kinda bitter than the two glorified babysitters are getting much better treatment than the Ten Commandments. What a waste.
This series really got worse with every arc.

Heck, even the series that codified Power Levels, Dragonball Z, never really took it seriously. The whole point of the Power Levels were that they were an unreliable way to gauge an opponent's ability.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI'm gonna assume Merlin sciencied her way to closing the gap or something.
That part of her always made me ambivalent since it reminds me of Mayuri & how he'd always bullshit his way out of every problem just by saying "SCIENCE!"
Its rather amusing how this series apparently never got that memo.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Power levels were pretty much always a good indication of power in DBZ, though. Like the characters hid what theirs was but in the end the bigger number was the one that won like 99% of the time.
Slim: Yeah, I know. I was thinking of a good character to compare her to and I was thinking of some version of Batman. The kind that brings out meteor repellent spray or something ridiculous like that.
Yeah that's also a good example.
Merlin's archetype is tricky since more often than not they'll constantly pull shit outta their ass & then justify it all by saying "Oh its cause of my research & planning."
Again Mayuri "Replace all my organs with dummy organs & fill Nemu with every kind of poison imaginable" Kurostuchi is a perfect example of how bullshit the archetype can get.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Why aren't the demons using the night? Doesn't it make them stronger?
Powerlevels in DBZ got vague, towards the end. Rather than actual numbers they'd just look at the new guy and go "wow, that's a lot."
Both Cussack and Chandler are twice as strong as Zeldoris.
And Rudeciel is more then twice as strong as the other two arc angels. Who were around 80k each.
I thought it was a good idea to break powers levels down into the sum total of 3 different stats, because the main reason numerical power levels don't work out is that you don't know what the numbers are supposed to mean. That's still a problem here, because the higher numbers still don't have any indications of someone's capabilities, but it was a good try.
These absurd power levels make Gowther's plan, and the reaction to it make even less sense.
Both Cusack and Chandler are much stronger than Meliodas was in his "Assault Mode". And Ludociel is far stronger than them so.... what?
Like, I understand there's probably a "Meliodas is young, and at his full potential is much stronger than all of them" but still.
That's a thing people say a lot but it's not actually true.

reminder that a mere 5-10k difference was enough for a curbstomp before.
Secret SignatureAnd they still never really established how Merlin apparently got so much stronger.
I don't think she ever did. There is nothing to indicate she powered up for the Greyroad fight or for here.
Like I think Power Level just does not matter to her cause she uses weird magic instead.
her magic just makes her spells last forever doesn't it
her Mana/Magic/Power stat is still kinda crap compared to everyone else.
Secret SignatureSomething about infinity & she can learn anything & whatever nonsense.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Infinity magic didn't help her against Galand; she was very clearly panicked and afterwards said that all of the Seven Deadly Sins, herself included, needed to get stronger.
Going "weird magic" doesn't fix anything.

They can handwave it as now she had time to study them, etc.
woooooo special time chamber magic she only used on herself cause she's ageless woooooo

Hey, maybe he'll try the night thing and then get hit with the memory whammy.
