Welcome to Beacon! (RWBY-verse RP)

It was the day many young people were waiting for. It was the first day of the school year. Now, this was not usually a cause for celebration, but here in the Kingdom of Vale, this particular school was something....different.

Beacon Academy, the legendary school famed for producing mighty Huntsmen and Huntresses.

One of the Academy's airships, carrying this year's Hunter Initiates, flew above the city of Vale, giving everyone a magnificent view of the scenery below.

Meanwhile, the holographic projector in the ship's viewing gallery was currently playing today's VNN news broadcast.

"....and that's the latest on the recent robbery of a Schnee Dust Carrier, assumed to be the work of the terrorist organization, The White Fang. Back to you, Cyril." Lisa Lavender was saying.

"Thank you, Lisa. And on other news, a dog Faunus was found dead in an alleyway today in downtown Vale. There are no suspects at this time, but it is believed to be a racial hate crime..."

Barry looked around smiling, finally he was going to Beacon. He was gonna be a Hunter and kill Grimm, especially King Tajitu, damned things still gave him the creeps. He started walking around hoping to meet and chat with some of his new classmates.

Jack glanced down at the landscape, he was a bit unnerved, having never been on one of these things. He turned away, reaching down to grap one of the two daggers on either side of his hilt, before releasing it. It wasn't going to kill him... He turned, watching the holographic news...Yay. More hate crimes, because apparently living with Grimms wasn't bad enough.

Ayers Wulfric tilted up his hat, waking up from a light snooze as they arrived in Beacon. Arms whirring and ticking and bulging under the sleeves of his flannel, their prosthetic nature was pretty damn obvious. He then heaved himself up and leaned up to the window, eyeing the other recruits to Beacon.

"Now are y'all hyped?! Are y'all psyched? Have y'all been waitin' to go to Beacon as long as I have?!" He grinned, thumping his chest with a mechanical chuu!

There was a beast on the airship and it was on the prowl. For those with sharp ears, the sound of its hunting theme could be vaguely heard as its red eyes scanned the future Huntsmen and Huntresses. The sound grew slightly above a whisper as it increased the volume on its Scroll, as it spotted its first prey of this new time in its life.

"Well hello there, gorgeous," Raqib cooed, his voice silky soft and with the slightest hint of an exotic accent. "It seems you made your first kill by piercing my tender heart, my dear."

Tara was looking out the window, marveled at the big city. Well, she had been to a big city, but this was the BIG big city, she was sure to write to her pops once she arrived, he'd be super happy to know of the sights her little girl was seeing. That was until a man with funny accent adressed her. "Who? Me?" she asked turning to Raqib.

Barry's eyes widened, so much cool! Robotic arms, that was amazing! Quickly making his way over to the other student, Barry began to energetically introduce himself, "Hey! My name's Barry, Barry Saph-Blut. You have robotic arms, that is soooo cool! What's your name?!"

A lady of tanned skin, dark hair and armor from the neck down turned towards Ayers, her blue eyes as bright as her grin. "Yup!", she tells him. Beryl hadn't felt this nervous and this excited for a long time - their current altitude was a wee bit too high for her liking but she was managing just fine. At the first sight of the city limits, Beryl's excitement exploded and she gave a strong fist pump with a quiet squee. "Oooh yeah, I can't wait to get off this ship!"

"But of course," Raqib said, sliding closer to the girl. "My eyes are as sharp as my blades, which are as sharp as my wit. There was no possible way I could miss a true beauty as yourself, my dear."

A blue haired teen was leaning against the railing with his elbows propped up on top of the bars. This is it... I'm here... I wish you could see me now Mom. I bet Luna and Nate would love this view. Though this news is just depressing... I can never stand hearing about all this shit.

Remus looked around at all the people. One was very obviously hitting on a girl. Some other guy apparently had mechanical arms which was quite the sight. "This is really quite the party." His mouth made a joyful grin. "This looks like it's gonna be quite fun."

Inconsequential NPC, go!

The VNN news broadcast came to an end, and the Holoprojector turned off.

One of the initiates, a tall young man with dark hair scoffed. "Faunus? Those animals don't deserve to be treated equally! They should just be glad we ain't rounding them up in a zoo! Darin to steal from the Schnees-!"

The young people around him nodded their agreement...

Remus turned towards the guy talking bad about faunus. "Hey. How bout a little respect for at least the dead? The White Fang aren't saints, but whose to say that dog faunus had anything to do with them?" He walked over to the group. "How would you feel if someone talked like that about you if a news broadcast said that you died the same way?"

The guy looked at him, confusedly. "Yo, man, what's up with you? Why do you care about them animals so much?"

He looked Remus over. "I mean, you're human, ain't ya? They're not!"

"Oh thanks, you must be a nice guy to compliment people like that! Lets be friends then!" she said hugging him in a random display of affection "My name is Tara. Tara Dejos! super happy to meet you!" she said

"And neither are you," Jack commented, walking over to the anti-faunus guy. "I'd say you are all," He gestured at the man and his group of friends, "Are an odd offshoot of humanity, known, quite scientifically, as douchebags." he said in a totally deadpan voice. "Interesting, douchebags seem to hold a pack mentality..." He turned towards the guy who had spoken up for the faunus. "I don't suppose you have a pen or something to record this data on?"

"Name's Ayers Wulfric. Much obliged." Ayers tipped his hat and shook Barry's hand. "Barry Saph-Blut, huh? You admirin' Hrunt and Naeg here? They're, uh, sorta the reason I'm here. Lost my arms to an Ursa, so I built 'em."

Rufous had his hands on his bladeless hilt, because his retort to the black-haired boy indirectly insulting the Maddox clan was going to be the business end of the Vorpal Sword. Of course, he turned and watched silently as others better at bandying words than him jumped at him.

He grunted.

"Raqib Grenitch and the pleasure is all mine," the 19 year old replied as he hugged back. "It is odd to meet another person in Vale so familiar with Vacuo greeting customs. Normally, when I hug someone I meet for the first time, they blush or get nervous. But I digress..." He broke off the hug with a somewhat cheeky grin. "It is wondrous to make such a charming, beautiful and undoubtedly strong friend. As to be expected from the great Beacon Academy."

"Why do I support them? Because I got a nice little wolfy brother and sister back where I'm from and I'd be ashamed of myself if I let their glorified image of their older brother went to Hell." He heard the other guy's retort. "Hoo. Nice one. And sadly no."

"Ursa, huh, I can't say I've had much contact with them. My part of the country had mostly Beowolves and," Barry continued shuddering a bit, "King Tajitu. As for weapons, I have Dragon Lily here." At this he held up what looked like a thin briefcase, only for it to unfold into a beautiful musket with a long bayonet running all the way from the fingerguard out to about two to three feet beyond the mouth of the barrel.

The guy's face twisted in a disgusted sneer.

"Animal lovers! The lot of you! Not an ounce of human pride!" He glared at them one last time, then gestured for his cronies to follow him as he walked away.

"Hey, wait up, Gaston!"

"Fair thee well Thane of douchebags! Fare thee well!" Jack shouted after Gaston. A smug grin on his face, Jack turned and looked at the short kid with the blue hair. "So, you a faunus? Heard you mention your family." He asked, noting the quiver, looked like he was talking to an archer.

"Yeah. My family are wolf faunus. I however." He slipped off his bandanna revealing... nothing. Just more blue hair. No wolf ears or any other type. "I'm human. My birth parents died in an attack by a Nevermore when I was just an infant. By some chance, a wolf faunus came across me and took me in, raising me as her own."

Jack chuckled when the guy dramatically revealed his species "Cool. I used to date a faunus." He said off-handedly, and offering his hand, "Jack Reisetoter." He introduced himself.

Remus grinned as he put his bandanna back on. "Remus Cerulian." He replied as he shook Jack's hand. "And might I say: Wonderful job handling those guys. I could barely keep myself from bursting into laughter."
