Just throwing my two cents in here because I just watched a documentary on the gangs of America and I learned that each major gang has its own preferred method of execution that they are oddly loyal to. Burning people alive in gang-related incidents happens though it is mainly confined to Africa - South Africa especially. Most major American gangs typically go for the simple headshot or a brutal beating. The Mafia, contrary to pop culture, doesn't really throw people into rivers. Burning someone alive is not something most gangs would do, although the times may have changed due to the Apocalypse, mainly because of the conspicous nature of it (most criminals, funnily enough, don't want to get caught.) It's also pretty dangerous and prone to go wrong. Which is why, in Africa and India, where they do this kind of thing, it's typically in a public ceremony with either a corrupt law enforcement present or because someone has gone against tradition (example: a wife running away from her husband in India) because, again, it's kind of hard to hide.

Also, it seems to me that in an apocalyptic setting, the bandits would just handcuff him somewhere in the wild and let the runners have him. Seems easier and they don't waste gasoline. Sorry if this post seemed like it was criticizing your signup but I thought I'd go and share what I learned. Documentaries rule!

Alright changed the crucifixion.

[up] Really? I'm actually surprised about the mafia no longer throwing people in rivers.

Well - there might have been a few isolated incidents but the Mafia is a business. Throwing people in a river runs the risk of being seen and also runs the risk of them freeing themselves and ratting to the authorities.

Finally got that character up, Firock.

  • Name: Sheila Webb
  • Gender and Age: Female, 32. Lycan - Werespider
  • Occupation: GPS Journalist, with some detective streaks.
  • Appearance: A Caucasian woman in her late 20's standing at 5 foot 8, Sheila is obsessed with making herself look younger, and as such employs a hefty amount of make-up. Her natural, elbow-length, mouse-colored hair, is dyed a light blonde and curled. She also cannot go into the open without mascara, some foundation and something on her lip, which she adds to her already good and seductive looks. She almost always wears fashionable clothes, and although that has become harder for her as of late, she still manages to mostly get by.
  • Personality: Sheila takes her job rather seriously. Truly, she does. It's just that she has a little imagination. Okay, a lot of imagination. And a liking of causing mischief. Imagination that tends to put people in the deep end when she writes about them, and although getting the gist of the story through, tends to be mostly inaccurate about the people or circumstances in the story, taking it wildly out of context, something her superiors had no trouble with in her magazine writing days, but do so now. This leads them to often send her out on missions in far-flung, or deserted places, the equivalent of Rita Skeeter, while being welcome in tabloids, being a hindrance post-apocalypse.

However, Sheila can be charming and flirty when she wishes too, which is what she mostly does to get news and quotes out of people of the opposite sex, and how she's kept her job over the years. She is, however, impatient and has diva tendencies, being a real drama queen.

  • Back Story:
    • Sheila was born in a fairly normal middle-class family in California, and was a pretty typical, average person growing up, although taking a bit too much time focused on the latest gossip and having a flair for literacy and creative writing. Her ambition to become a journalist, Sheila worked freelance at first, before being snapped up by a magazine.
    • The magazine lasted fairly long into the apocalypse, partly because less monsters attacked it's publishing areas, and also because the GPS sent some guards to look out for it, people still wanting to discover the latest news on the celebrities. Sheila's stay only lasted 1 and a half years into the apocalypse though, before, while investigating the disappearance of a popular Hollywood actor, came across a cellar filled with spiders. She managed to escape, just, but was bitten by a lycan living, and leading, among them and turned.
    • At first, she couldn't control her transformations , and still suffered from the lycan's poisonous venom, her spider form offering a brief reprieve from it. Eventually, Sheila managed to force herself to turn into her spider form, and stay like that. Unfortunately, by the time she had developed immunity to the venom and had healed from it, she had lost any control she had held whatsoever, and had fully embraced her lycan form, being unable to turn back, and instead, choosing to go back into the town where she had been bitten.
    • Once she had managed to locate the town, she took over the spider colony their, killing the previous lycan, viewing him as inferior. She remained in the town, for half a year, until a pack of demons with walkers and runners arrived, and tried to take over the town. Sheila and her spiders fought them for it, and Sheila's side won, using their skill in forming webs to set up numerous snares that depleted the demon's forces, and winning a few skirmishes by strength of numbers.
    • Funnily enough, it was these demons that gave Sheila sentience again, the incubuses and succubuses leading the group reminding her of her human form and what it looked like, felt like. With some thought, and time, Sheila managed to shift back into human form. For a while, she experimented with shifting; the other spiders treating her almost like a Goddess and thus leaving her in peace, even when in human form.
    • A conscience took longer to occur to Sheila though, almost as if her spider form was the default. Eventually, though, it reappeared, and disgusted with how she had been living for the past half-year or so, picking up some weaponry, clothes, a means of transport and supplies from the town itself and the demons.
    • She made it a three days before she was found by a U.N.A.M. patrol squad. Convincing them that she was half, she managed to secure travel with them to their base, where she was given therapy for her transformations, and theoretical advice on how to keep control within transformations. A life in the army did not suit Sheila though, and she instead went to the nearest GPS base, where she revealed her experience, and was quickly enlisted to gather information.
    • It was after Sheila's first couple of missions that they discovered that Sheila wasn't very good at telling true stories. Her previous magazine company having since succumbed to monsters, the GPS kept her in out of pity, the fact that she could be used as an expendable, her skills were useful and that her tabloid articles were rather good, but mostly sent her out to places were there was little or no important news, or as a gesture that they really were operating in the area.
    • Recently returning from yet another unimportant mission, Sheila was quickly sent to the Midwest, where the GPS guessed that nothing would be happening. As it turns out, something is happening, and Sheila caught wind of it, heading for Green Field's neighboring town where she had heard of a weird succubus attack, and rumors of a Deceiver-class demon.
  • Equipment:
    • Sheila uses a 12-gauge Mossberg 590, with a heat shield and ghost rings. The barrel is 18.5 inches and holds six 00 Buckshot rounds. Sheila has 5 magazines worth of rounds, including the one inside the Mossberg. She uses no specialty rounds. It is kept strapped to her waist.
    • Her sidearm is a .44 magnum, Mark XIX Desert Eagle. It uses a detachable box magazine, which also has 8 rounds, and is fitted with iron sights. She has three magazines for it, including the one loaded. The pistol is kept concealed inside her jacket.
    • She uses a vehicle to get around quickly so that any information she has doesn't become stale. Her vehicle is a rusty, previously red Mini Hatch, which holds all of her unessential belongings.
    • Forging utensils and are kept in a well-hidden compartment in her Mini, so nobody important finds them and becomes suspicious of her. She also keeps surveillance equipment in there, which consists of half-a-dozen tracking devices, a dozen bugs and 3 video cameras. All illegal of course, which she uses when people are unwilling to tell her their story.
    • A backpack and her pockets contain a notepad with several pens, a cameraphone, a dozen energy bars, several bottles of normal water, a torch, two spending points, two packs of spare batteries, a normal Swiss Army knife, a modernized one and her make-up.
  • Skills:
    • Lycan/Were-spider: Sheila's spider form consists of her still having a human-shaped jaw, but she has pointed, sharper teeth, that are poisonous. She also has double her limbs, her arms and legs are split into two. This means that her first set of limbs contains her first three fingers, and the second set contains her last two. This pattern is repeated for what would be her legs, the only difference being that her fingers and toes are elongated and sharp due to the exoskeleton covering them. Thus, she has enhanced durability and faster, although not more than some other Lycan's. Her sense of touch, reflexes and reaction time are greatly enhanced though, and carry over into her human form. She can also climb on walls and ceilings and change direction really quickly. This is at the cost of the Spider taking over her, meaning that, although she would go for her original target first and foremost, if you're in the way, or she's completed her task, Sheila will kill you. Also, after she shifts, she has to see a human, or human like thing, to be able to shift back again. The longer she stays in her shifted form, the more time it takes for her conscience to return to her too. The upside of this though, is that she retains a human-level of intelligence throughout, meaning that if you point a silver weapon at her or pose a threat to her, she won't attack you unless provoked. In or out of her form, Sheila can communicate with spiders and has four Black Widow spiders as pets, along with a giant spider the size of a wardrobe. Naturally she has a weakness to silver, and also takes 10 seconds to shift from one form to another.
    • Seductiveness: Another part of the reason that Sheila has kept her job in the GPS is her ability to completely flirt with her superior, who's male, which has led to him being unwilling to let her go. She also uses this to wheedle information out of men.
    • Lie detector: Through basic instinct, honed ability, and some experience in psychology, Sheila is able to tell whether a person is lying or not. However, this is a mundane ability, and as such isn't guaranteed to work all of the time, like for instance, if the person in question is a well-practiced liar or uses magic to lie.
    • Firearms training: Sheila has pretty good firearms training, that she learned from home, the GPS and U.N.A.M.. This means she can handle pistols very well, and rifles, although anything automatic, Sheila can't handle very well.
    • Forging: Sheila, when she can't get access to certain areas, utilizes her forging skills, with which she forges signatures, money and ID cards to get into off-bounds areas. Her extremely expansive range of vocabulary also aids her in this.
    • Driving: Sheila can drive most land vehicles, short of a tank, and get the best out of them, so as to get to news hotspots. rather quickly.

Gender and Age: Fairly straight forward, and I condense them into the same line to save on vertical space. Also, if your character is something other than plain Human, list it here as well.

Just for reference, but it's no biggie. tongue

Let's see, going down from the top...

Gonna have to say denied just because of that name pun. No, but seriously, Sheila Webb? Come on man. tongue

The magazine lasted fairly long into the apocalypse, partly because less monsters attacked it's publishing areas, and also because the GPS and U.N.A.M. sent some guards to look out for it...

U.N.A.M. wouldn't have sent soldiers just to guard a publisher building unless the area was a severe hot-zone, (In which case they would be evacuating it.) or if it happened to be in/directly next to something else they cared about, like a military base. The magazine surviving for a while is fine, but the justification of it surviving could use a little tweaking or clarifying.

After that her back story seems okay, though I may ask to be allowed to throw in some secret (As in I'll know it but you won't.) stuff into her Lycan-only phase that she doesn't remember because she was too feral at the time.

Next is the guns, which are the biggest things keeping me from just saying "okay" to her; a SPAZ-15 and .44 magnum desert eagle are pretty damn hardcore guns for a GPS journalist on what is supposed to be a "nothing actually happening" kind of assignment. Even seducing her boss, that's a really tall order. I would like to see the SPAZ in particular replaced with something much more mundane, then depending on what that would be maybe let her keep the desert eagle if it's like her personal gun or something.

(And for reference, with it being the apocalypse most people aren't going to care about her illegal surveillance stuff unless she's using it on them.)

Her skills are okay minus a couple of things; first the silver weakness should be mentioned more specifically, since she does still have that. Second, her transformation shouldn't turn her into an actual spider; it should turn her into something like a spider. Let's see, thinking about specifics...

The form should still have a set of Human-like set of jaws and (very sharp and pointed) teeth, rather than the mandibles and fangs that spiders usually have. Her front four legs would still have fingers, since they are her arms having split in two each. (So the front-most set would have the thumbs, trigger fingers, and index fingers, while the set just behind that would have her ring and pinky fingers.) Though said fingers would turn elongated and sharp as the exoskeleton covered them, which would prevent her from using most guns.

Also so we're both clear on the capabilities of her alternate form; while the addition of an exoskeleton does make her more durable than normal Humans, she has little of the unnatural muscle toughness that say, werewolves do, actually putting her behind them in terms of durability. They also beat her in strength, since she wouldn't actually be much stronger than her Human form, and they beat her in full on running speed. But she has much better reflexes, reaction time, and ability to change direction quickly; (Nigh superhuman, in fact.) plus you know, she can move around on walls and ceilings. And like how Molly has some of her toughness and enhanced senses carry over into her Human form, Sheila would likewise have enhanced reflexes and reaction time carry over to her Human form; also her sense of touch is way more sensitive than normal peoples'. (Like she could sometimes feel the vibrations in the ground of someone walking up behind her before she would actually hear the footsteps with her ears. Depending on the footwear and surface of course.)

Oh, and like how Molly can have dire wolves, Sheila can of course have giant spiders.

Again, the biggest thing right now is the guns. I know I just spent a good chunk of the post talking about her lycan stuff, but that's mostly for clarification.

In advance, yeah you can add stuff to Sheila's backstory, although her meeting anything human-like might not exactly make sense, but okay.

I edited the spider form, but are Sheila's fangs poisonous, and can she make webs? I'm assuming yes on the first and no on the second, but if there's anything wrong I'll change it.

And I've edited the gun to a more common one. Also, I intended for the weapon/s to be from the demons that Sheila killed, and they'd probably have high-scale weapons, but I've still edited it.

Yes she's venomous and no she can't make webs in her were form, however her venom is like the venom of other giant spiders; to most people, it would burn and somewhat incapacitate, but it wouldn't be lethal on its own.

Oh yeah, and for reference it takes her a full 10 seconds minimum to change between forms, just like any other lycan. (She also shares the same problem Molly does in that her clothes don't exactly shift with her.)

The Mossberg 590 is okay, though it doesn't use magazines to reload, so you should just put that she has 30 rounds for it. (That would include the ones in the gun by what you have stated.) I'm assuming they're buckshot? Or are they solid slug? Both are acceptable as "normal" in this. The mossberg plus the desert eagle is fine.

Also, I intended for the weapon/s to be from the demons that Sheila killed, and they'd probably have high-scale weapons, but I've still edited it.

If that were the case, she would be more likely not to have guns at all. Demons having guns is pretty rare, even for succubi and incubi which one would think would be the exception since they're so Human-like. (In actuality, goblins are more likely to use guns while succubi and incubi usually just resort to their magic to fight. Lisa's an exception but she's kind of an exception to succubi in general.) If her only weapons were ones from demons she'd probably be toting medieval weapons, though both mundane and exotic are applicable in that case.

Anyway, unless you want to change her weapons to reflect that, in which case I'd have to look them over again to make sure they're okay, she's accepted. Though she would technically be at the town already, I'd like to ask that you hold off on posting for her just yet. Just wait until the party is actually in the town and we timeskip to morning, which is when Nman's trader character will also be entering. (Who I realize is likewise technically already at the town.)

Yeah, that's why I said 5 magazines worth of rounds.

And, yeah, Sheila uses buckshot rounds.

As for the gun, I said that the succubuses and incubuses were leading the group, implying that there were other demons, including goblins. Although I guess I should've made that a bit clearer. tongue

Oh, and I'm definitely not changing Sheila's last name. I'm proud of that pun.smile

No, I got that the succubi were leading a group of demons; what I meant in the context of my statement as a whole was that even goblins carrying guns is pretty uncommon. (They know how to pick up and fire them because they know how to fire crossbows, and it's pretty much the same principle. But they usually fail on figuring out how to reload since it's not the same principle there at all, so they quickly abandon the gun.)

And even amongst goblins that do carry guns, a SPAZ-15 and a .44 magnum desert eagle would likewise be uncommon. They usually stick to smaller caliber pistols and SMGs, because they're usually using them against us so they don't exactly need huge stopping power; and because of their small stature they have trouble with larger firearms.

Since you hadn't initially mentioned where your character got the guns, I assumed she had just acquired them normally or been given them by her employers sometime after the whole lycan thing. (It's not like GPS would send somebody out unarmed after all, even to a relatively safe area.) At this point it doesn't really matter; she's still accepted with the mossberg and desert eagle even if you still want them to have come from goblins. Though I will say, if that's the case and you want to be just a little more consistent for the setting, have the mossberg have either no stock or a short, collapsible stock; with their shorter arms, a goblin would probably abandon a full stock mossberg even if it knew how to reload it, simply due to the difficulty in using it. (Though I suppose you can also say she replaced it with a full stock later if you want.)

Looks pretty good, though I'm afraid I'm a little confused on the ammo for his shotgun. You have "20 regular shells, 4 buckshot shells," listed, though as far as I'm aware buckshot pretty much is regular shells? If you could clarify what you meant/intended here, then I should be satisfied to accept him.

Meant to type one thing but put in another, or something accidentally leftover from a previous rewrite? I do that all that time. I've taken to immediately rereading my posts after I send them to see if I missed something that became more obvious outside of the "add post" window.

Anyway, Roderick looks perfectly acceptable. Right at the moment isn't a good time for him to enter the game, but we should be getting to the good point for new characters to enter soonish. Probably two or three days I'd estimate right now, though I've been way off in those estimates in the past; at the very least, I'll try to get to that point before next weekend. In the meantime, feel free to come over to the discussion thread and introduce yourself, maybe read some of the main thread and catch up on things if that fancies you.

Name: Gunslinger

Gender & Age: Male, 53

Appearance:

Standing at 6"3, Gunslinger never takes off his mask entirely, but will expose his mouth. His entire outfit looks like this, except much more polished up and without the words scratched on the side of the helmet.

The only thing one might be able to see through the lenses of the helmet are his eyes. It's difficult to see unless you study them for a long time, but they are, in fact, a radiant yellow color. This is due to his magic, which is explained way below.

Personality:

Cold, calculating, and possessing a very heavy French accent, he's almost the polar opposite of his son, especially in the middle of combat. Unlike Recon, he's a mid-range fighter, preferring to keep himself out of direct combat and therefore have breathing space to think and adjust whatever plan he might have.

He never goes willingly into battle without a solid idea of what he's going to do. If he's forced to, his modus operadi is to buy time until he can think of one.

He always seems distant and cold. Even when trying to interact with his own son, his joviality and light-hearted teasing sometimes seems forced and stilted. When interacting with complete strangers, he never seems to have any problems, and in fact can be dangerously charismatic.

And, his most dangerous aspect: he is ruthless, and willing to gamble with lives if he can get away with it. While his son may do stupid things out of emotion or to try and keep monsters and civilians as far away from each other as possible, Gunslinger will never lose control and doesn't hesitate to bring innocents into the fray if it means he will have a better chance of winning.

Backstory:

Much of Gunslinger's past before the apocalypse is unknown to all but his son and himself. Here is what is certain:

He was very successful financially before the war, judging by the way he talks and the his familiarity with money. He was a lawyer, although whether that was his only profession is, again, unknown. Somewhere in the late 1900s, he disappeared without a trace. When directly asked, he tells a different tale each time. Sometimes he says his plane crashed and he survived on a lifeboat. Sometimes he says he got lost in a cave while spelunking and remained trapped for years. Sometimes he even claims that he foresaw the apocalypse and worked to stop it. Only him and his son know the truth.

He came back, which is known, as the head of a very powerful crime ring. So powerful, in fact, that he saved his son from a life sentence after he was accused of first degree murder. After which he revealed he was, in fact, Recon's father.

Whatever really happened, Recon forgave his dad extraordinarily quickly, and all was well right up until the apocalypse.

Stranded in America by the breakdown of society with his wife and his daughter in Japan, his last call was used to contact his son, on mission in Africa in the blood diamond trade. He told Recon to find them.

Before he left America, he learned a single spell that would allow him to slow or speed up the perception of time on anything he chose.

He finally managed to arrange a flight across the Pacific. Before he left, he received word that his family was being held inside a rogue coven facility, operated by insane practitioners of magic doing human experiments.

He infiltrated the facility himself, unbeknowst to his son even to this day. To his great distress, he realized he was too late to save his family, but he wasn't too late to destroy this place that took his family away. So, after months of calling in favors and maintaining contact with those inside, and then attacked.

Taken by surprise, during the dead of night no less, they could do nothing until it was too late and the facility collapsed in flames around their ears. Gunslinger escorted the hostages to safety, and broke the news to his son that their family had not survived.

His son fell into a deep depression, and set off on his own, promising to keep in touch. Gunslinger, with nowhere else to go and no way back to America, used his ties in Africa to establish a base there instead. Him and the people he gathered to storm the facility established a small mercenary group, doing jobs normally reserved for much larger groups at lower prices, therefore racking up a good profit.

Eventually, his son returned, creating a strong team of nine. Now, with the rumors that there may be a demon warlord on the loose, he joins his son in America, his first visit in four years.

Equipment: Divided into parts for ease of reading.

  • Weapons: Very lightly equipped, which is necessary for reasons explained later.

    • Main Weapon: A S&W 500, owned before the apocalypse. .50 cal rounds, modified for a six-round clip and not five. 8¾ in (213 mm) barrel. Carries 20 clips.

    • Secondary Weapon: Scratch-built lever action rifle, firing 45-70 Gov't rounds. Basically just this gun brought to life. Fits 8 rounds in the chamber. Carries 50 shots, all hand loaded.

    • Special Weapon: All 60 rounds of his revolver ammo is carried in speed loaders, speeding his reload.

  • Armor:
    • Helmet: Integrated with a radio communicator, and, obviously, it's a gas mask as well. The filters on the mask can be sealed, turning it into a kind of make-shift scuba mask. Is equipped with a sound muffler to lessen the impact gunshots have on his ears. The lower part of his mask also has a small, openable slot, exposing hus mouth.
    • Arms/Legs: Standard armor to soften bullets and bites. Same stuff you'd see in the police military.
    • Body: Kevlar armor. Designed to stop bullets.
    • Duster: This is kind of like his backpack. He has pockets, deep ones, in this duster where he stores his stuff. Ammunition, food, and water, as well. Thus, to reload, he simply reaches in, pulls ammo out, and slams it into his gun.
  • Misc:
    • Water bottle: A water bottle. Plastic.
    • Weapon Repair Kit: Tools to repair his weapons with. Includes a small wrench, a bullet puller, a few cleaning patches, a tube of oil, a few picks and a few brushes.
    • Dried Rations: Just add water. Carries around 3 days worth.
    • Iodine Tablets: Always has a ready supply. 2 containers.
    • Cigarettes: Ten packets, camels. Smokes to help in stressful situations or when he needs to think.
    • Lighter: To light the cigarettes.

Skills:

  • Mastermind: His defining feature, and the reason he never goes in without a plan. As I said earlier, I won't hold back on this character like I did with Recon. He will always take the best route available, and encourage others to do the same. If Lisa ever decides to go into questioning again, he will be able to deduce whether she's telling the truth on almost any question. He does not care about recognition or praise, and does not care if someone else may get it.
  • Manipulative: Gains +10 to Charisma checks He uses his ability to switch his demeanor to be able to appeal to anyone's tastes. Plus, he was a lawyer at one time.
  • Handgun/Non-Automatic Rifle Advantage: An expert with handguns, since he's been using them his whole life. Used to the firing and mechanisms of most of them, and can identify shells. Also can aim very, very well with his revolvers, to the point where his main method of dealing with a ghoul is to aim at a point on their head and his that repeatedly.
  • Quick Draw: Able to draw and fire at the blink of an eye, and pretty accurately as well.
  • Speaks French: Fluently.
  • Magic: 1 Ability. His stamina will start at 100% and drain by a certain amount depending on which skills he uses and how many times he uses it. He begins to slow down when he hits 50%, his nose also start to bleed when using skills after that threshold, becoming more profuse the more he fights. When he hits 20%, they'll become exhausted and will have his physical aspects (strength, speed, reactions) reduced dramatically. Going into negatives will just knock him out.

    • Slows his perception of time or an ally's perception of time. Alternatively, he can speed up an enemy's perception of time to disorient them. Works similar to adrenaline without the super strength or speed. Costs 1% per second.

Weaknesses

  • Fragile: Like his son, he's never been very bulky. Has better armor than his son, but that doesn't help.
  • Auto-Rifle/SMG Disadvantage: Not used to the rapid kicking of automatic weapons, so likely any that he uses will be wildly inaccurate at best and friendly fire at worst.

Anacondas aren't .357, they're already .44 (or 45) so having one in .44 doesn't need modification. Did you make a typo and mean something else? Or the inverse?

In case Fircock deems the guns too powerful, in which case they'll be customized for .357. Must be a typo. Sorry.

I told you already Gameknight that stuff about the group getting magic powers without the help of Coven members, rogue or otherwise, was basically impossible for them to do successfully.

Gunslinger being magical isn't really acceptable with the justification listed, regardless of what powers they are or what the rest of his sheet is like. This is being typed the moment I saw the mention of that in his back story. Now to read the rest of the sheet...

Fircock

Ironic that you were just apologizing for a typo. tongue

Commonly uses both at the same time. The reason is that the weight of the Colt allows him to mitigate the recoil somewhat.

This makes zero sense. Controlling recoil with two hands is always easier than controlling recoil with just one, no matter how heavy the gun is. Also, one handing guns of this caliber effectively is basically impossible, no matter how much you practice.

I'm not saying I won't let him do it, but I am saying that the way I GM, he would almost never hit anything.

Watches: Three watches. One on each of his wrists and one large golden pocket watch (looks like the Dead Ringer). All three of them are inscribed with ritual circles that allow him to use his magic. Otherwise they look like just regular analog watches. Trinket: Hold the ritual circle for his most dangerous magical ability.

With the things I've decided to establish about magic since this game has started, ritual circles this small would barely do anything. At all.

If Lisa ever decides to go into questioning again, he will be able to deduce whether she's telling the truth on almost any question.

This is both unnecessarily specific and for me to decide, not you.

Also can aim very, very well with his revolvers, to the point where his main method of dealing with a ghoul is to aim at a point on their head and his that repeatedly.

Not dual wielding .44 magnums he isn't.

@Magic: Since I'm not accepting his current justification for his magic, I'm gonna have to judge him as I would a normal person who tried to learn magic.

This means his Q is way out of his league, and wouldn't be useable through a ritual circle as small as one on a watch. Even if he was magical, it would cost a whole magnitude more than that.

His W wouldn't exist; not the way it's worded.

His E is also way out of his league, couldn't come on just a watch, and would again cost a whole magnitude more.

His R..... No. Just no. Not happening. Ever.

EDIT: For reference, his Q and E would be abilities Lisa would have trouble effectively using, and she's a demon.

Sociopath: His biggest weakness. Not "I'm going to kill people for no reason" sociopath. The actual clinical disorder. He has difficulty feeling empathy, and whatever he does feel is placebo at best. This, combined with the fact he has difficulty understanding human emotion, is probably his biggest downfall. Whenever his plans fail, it's because he often leaves out the human element, and can't imagine why a man would risk his life to save his friend.

I'm going to once again ask: How in the shit did Recon find it in him to forgive his dad for the crap his dad inadvertently put him through, yet apparently is still the kind of person to obsess with killing a 16 year old for something he doesn't even know if the kid was involved in?

Because seriously, I see zero character consistency in that if his dad is literally a sociopath.

Shit, I am so sorry.

This makes zero sense. Controlling recoil with two hands is always easier than controlling recoil with just one, no matter how heavy the gun is.

This is actually something I found out just today, and I didn't quite believe it myself. Direct quote from the Wikipedia article:

the heavy-duty solid construction and weight tends to absorb recoil, making the Anaconda relatively easy to shoot with heavy loads.[2][3]

With two citations saying the exact same thing.

Also, one handing guns of this caliber effectively is basically impossible, no matter how much you practice. I'm not saying I won't let him do it, but I am saying that the way I GM, he would almost never hit anything.

If that's the case, I could downgrade to a S&W 686, famous for its low recoil. It comes in smaller caliber too.

This is both unnecessarily specific and for me to decide, not you.

Remember when I said that Recon wasn't smart enough to beat the "she's only bound to tell the truth about what she's done" thing? I found a way through it, and I alluded to it.

That's what I'm trying to say. GS isn't going to hold back intellectually like Recon does.

@Magic: Since I'm not accepting his current justification for his magic, I'm gonna have to judge him as I would a normal person who tried to learn magic. I'll reword his W and change him to a coven member. He's probably the least powerful of the mercs in direct combat, having no direct combat spells and only 2 handguns. I hope making him coven isn't too over-the-top.

I'm going to once again ask: How in the shit did Recon find it in him to forgive his dad for the crap his dad inadvertently put him through, yet apparently is still the kind of person to obsess with killing a 16 year old for something he doesn't even know if the kid was involved in? Because seriously, I see zero character consistency in that if his dad is literally a sociopath

The real reason why Gunslinger was gone was not his fault, nor was it the fault of anyone Recon knew. Recon may be psychopathic, but he's not stupid (most of the time). Getting angry at his dad for something that he had no control over doesn't make sense.

Flyer, on the other hand, as far as Recon knows, chose to be a bandit. He chose to affiliate himself with the only bandit group Recon has heard about in America. And, as far as Recon has heard, the only people that said Flyer did nothing wrong while being part of a bandit group is Flyer himself. Recon obviously doesn't believe him.

Sociopathy is a real mental illness Firock. No good son is going to hate his dad just because he has a mental illness. Replace that with something like Autism or Down Syndrome and you can see why.

If you want a character dual wielding guns with any semblance of effectiveness with the way I like to keep my gun realism, you're going to have to downgrade to .45 or 9mm. Above that and I'm going to have them missing terribly.

If Gunslinger is going to be a coven member, I'm going to put him under even more scrutiny than I am now, so he would probably never be accepted. Also, they wouldn't let a sociopath join.

"He's probably the least powerful of the mercs in direct combat, having no direct combat spells and only 2 handguns."

2 handguns of enormous power is "least powerful" now?

And yes, I'm aware being a sociopath is a real mental illness, but I'm talking about character consistency.

The way you've been playing Recon, I cannot see Recon finding out that his dad literally doesn't and cannot feel any emotional empathy about what happened to his mother and sister and being like "oh, okay. That makes everything alright then." That's something real people would hardly ever do, even towards family, and you're talking about a psychopath acting like that.

Basically nothing about this character is currently acceptable.

Very well then, he'll just have to use one, I guess.

Well if being a coven member is the only way he'll be able to use time powers, then that's the only way.

Two handguns of enormous power equals about two rifles of medium power at best, except for the huge .50 cal revolvers, which equals one high-power rifle. Anyone will tell you how much weaker handguns are than rifles. Or else why would they bother lugging a rifle around to hunt elephants when they could just use a really big revolver and get the same result?

You know what? Screw it. Sociopathy is more Marksman's thing anyway. I'm taking it out.

I still don't believe that the Recon you've been playing in the game would have forgiven him so easily, but fine, whatever.

Even as a coven member I'm probably not going to let Gunslinger have those time powers. You realize that, right?

EDIT: For reference, his Q and E would be abilities Lisa would have trouble effectively using, and she's a demon.

The time powers are overpowered as shit and don't really fit the setting much anyway. That's why his R was especially unacceptable; if that kind of magic existed that Humans could use, Mephisto would have automatically won the game with his level of magic.

It would have been, "Oh, I'm summoned now? Okay, time to stop time and murder every Human within a few miles radius with literally no chance of them fighting back so that there's no way they could become a thorn in my side later."

Two handguns of enormous power equals about two rifles of medium power at best, except for the huge .50 cal revolvers, which equals one high-power rifle. I don't think you realize how much power a .44 magnum actually hits with; it could down a bear pretty fucking easily, with one shot. Against a person? Even with bulletproof armor you're still likely to die. The reason people use rifles instead of it though is because it's impractical as fuck. Six shots per reload and nearly breaking your wrists every time you fire? Not a good idea in tactical firefights, or even that great in hunting, hence why they use rifles instead.
