If she says she is the queen, would you be brave enough to challenge it?

Johns is a... hard man to get a read on. Him at his best and him at his worst could basically be two different writers, and I can never tell just how much influence he actually has or when he is or isn't getting jerked around by the higher-ups.

I’m actually a huge fan of Geoff’s work. He’s excellent at writing big blockbuster stories and can also do character stuff pretty well. But yeah he’s far from a perfect writer

He wrote JSA so I'm pretty much always going to love him.

So what is actually happening in that panel with the Wests and the dead robots or whatever those things are.

I think it's Wally hallucinating his lost family while surrounded by the people who are dead because of him.

Which JSA run did Johns write?

The one right after Robinson's in the late '90s-early '00s. The two of them between them basically revived the brand.

The JSA series that ran from 1999-2006 and then the Justice Society of America series from 2006 to I think 2008 or 2009.

I should read Starman one of these days.

[up]You should. It more or less laid the groundwork for JSA and established the kinds of themes and situations it would deal with, but it's still an amazing comic in its' own right.

An End of Hanna-Barbera at DC Comics?

Bleeding Cool has been told by good sources that all the Hanna-Barbera properties will be canned at DC Comics this year. It’s all down to the Warner Bros executive in charge of the licensing of these properties to DC who is increasingly unhappy with the way the characters have been reinvented, from a 1950s gay playwright version of Snagglepuss, the topically politically satirical Flintstones or, indeed, the post-apocalyptic Scooby Doo.

While the likes of Archie Comics is happy to reinvent their characters in a variety of forms aimed at adult audiences, from raw horror, to teen sex drama, and spawning the likes of the Riverdale and Sabrina TV series, Warner Bros has decided that’s not the direction they want for the Hanna-Barbera intellectual properties.

My theory re Hi C? Things aren't what they seem. The killer isn't who we think it is. This is all a misdirection. They are trolling their readers. We don't know the full story with editorial. I'm reminded of Identity Crisis, when people thought Ray Palmer was the killer, only it wasn't. But I wouldn't be surprised if this is a Secret Empire-type situation. I'd be happy to be proven right...but either way I'm not buying the book because TPTB are plain clueless.

On another note, DC is now under the leadership of Pam Lifford, who replaced Diane Nelson and just started in late September. Lifford was apparently mad about the Batawang in Batman: Damned. Wait'll she reads the rest of the books. Can't wait...[lol]

WB's decision to end the Hannah Barbara line makes sense in that they probably want to keep their characters in their most iconic state, but on the other hand nobody cares about them otherwise.

We got a legitimately heartfelt drama about Snagglepuss. The suits can't understand that.

Ahem: Spoilers for the cover of the last issue of Heroes in Crisis. If, as the cover indicates, they bring Wally West, his wife, and children all back together, I will forgive this entire godawful crossover. Okay, and they need to bring everyone else back to life, too.

[up] Most people seem to think it means Wally is the killer, as evidenced by the trail of bloody shirts behind him.

That is also how I interpreted the cover. It's a happy hallucination of Wally's and those are his victims behind him.

#9968: Jan 22nd 2019 at 3:23:18 PM

If they do that then WHAT THE FUCK, DC. Why did you even bring back the original Wally West if all you were going to do was kill him off and then tarnish his name? The entire DC Rebirth one-shot was predicated on the fact that Wally West was the heart of the DC universe. So, again, WHAT THE FUCK.

Of course, I choose to believe the hopeful interpretation that they discarded the bloody shirts because they were no longer dead and came back to life.

They aren't good at learning lessons. Seriously, this'll turn the original Wally completely radioactive for several years.

[up][up] Because Dan Didio doesn't like Wally. Barry is here and he's the real Flash, so Wally is expendable.

alliterator Since: Jan, 2001
#9971: Jan 22nd 2019 at 3:55:20 PM

[up] But then why bring back the original Wally West in the first place? I understand the need for angst, but this is just throwing away the character and making sure nobody else can ever use them. Why make Wally West such a pivotal character? Why make him the heart of the DC universe — and that's what the Rebirth one-shot was about — if you aren't going to do anything with it?

kkhohoho Since: May, 2011

[up][up][up] By that logic, Barry should die a horrid, bloody death and Jay Garrick should be the one true Flash because he's the true-blue original. Rather than judging who should be the true anything based on their actual merits as a character. Because if they bothered to do that, then Wally would reign supreme. And we can't have that, can we?

[up][up] Because that only happened when Geoff Johns was in charge. Now that he isn't, Dan Didio can once again knock Wally off his pedestal.
