Hm, I've never been very good at Point Based Systems, how would I create one of these?

No no, how would we create one of those. tongue

I'm not about to leave you high and dry.

Basically each player will have a list of body types, weapons, abilities and other such things that cost points. They are given a certain amount of points and must use those points to 'purchase' options. The balancing comes with the pricing.

Particle Hax Abilities would obviously be very expensive, leaving whoever decided to buy one less options. Someone who opts out of forgoes the extra power/utility of a Particle Hax for more options.

Thus balance is achieved and all Gundams will be on about the same level because they would all cost the same.

I can start workin' on a chart right now.

This seems like a good template to base of off: http://imgur.com/a/TXHoB#k0TNUSo

Alright, assuming this would be a highschool club (which lets admit it, the show WAS focused on), You'd get a bunch of different types playing this game. The first would likely be the Gundam fan. The guys (or girls) who are into the Gundam Series themselves. They'd likely base their gunpla choices on what appealed to them in the show itself. The next would be the Power Gamer. The guy who wants to beat everything with the 'best' gunpla, no matter what it takes. They couldn't care less about if it fit into the Gundam Universe, so long as it works for them. The next would be the modeler. The guy who wants the absolute best looking machine and getting it to move is a total geekasm. The next type would be the “Is this going to be cool?” creator. The ones who make something that is totally ridiculous, but it works.

Considering how popular the sport is in the show, we can assume that the various schools actually have teams that compete in events and so on. That might be a good focus for us to use.

Here's an example of a character who starts out with a normal gunpla to get his feet wet.

  • Name: Reven Vrakus
  • Age: 16
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Rather on the short side, always has a set of headphones on and carries a laptop loaded with music. Wears big round glasses that autotint in sunlight.
  • Personality: The shy kid in the back, who doesn't stand out much. Reven is more likely to shut everything out with his music than get into confrontations.
  • Bio: No one is quite sure how Reven got lumped into the Gunpla Club, but likely cause it was quieter than the other clubs. But he has shown knowledge of several Gundam series and knows most of the sound tracks.
  • Gunpla Build:
    • Gunpla Style: Jack of all Stats
    • Customizations: Nothing, strictly a stock model.
    • Custom Abilities: N/A
    • Original Model: AMX-011S Zaku III Custom
    • Universe of Origin: ZZ Gundam (Universal Century)
    • Weaponry:
      • 2 x 30mm Vulcan Guns (Fire-Linked, mounted in head)
      • 2 x Beam Gun/Saber (Stored in front skirt armor, serves as ranged weaponry while housed, can be ejected to serve as melee weapons)
      • 1 x Hide Bomb Dispenser (housed in left shoulder, contains six grenades)
      • 2 x Beam Saber (Stored in right shoulder armor)
      • 3 x Grenade (Stored in right shoulder armor)
      • 1 x Beam Rifle (Hand carried)
