Well, this was a strange episode! Very festive too.

An ugly monkey that's also a cute sheep. Pretty clever after all.

Renge sosunsing Hika-ne almost to death and Hotaru acting like a five-year-old at home are the most jarring things that have happened in the series for me!

Hotaru wasn't kidding about being super-kiddy at home(When buddies aren't around, of course). That was fun to see.

Episode 11. In which there's childish behaviour.

Kids are easily amused.

She's tech savvy.

A true sign of adulthood is not caring about things like that.

Is it really a bother to wait with messages? And it's not like Candy Store is usually so busy. Which her quick response hints at.

Okay, sometimes that joke is funny. Very specific area, though.

Foot: Okay. Pride: Hurt. And is that any better than just giving it to one of them?

Other kids are always more polite and mature than your own kids. Unless you're the kind of parent who likes to brag about your kids.

Totally mature. She wasn't kidding about being more childish with her mum. It also feels very deliberate on her part. And being childish and knowing it is more mature than trying to be mature and not knowing how childish you look. Also, adorable.

Okay, season finale. Good episode. Among the strongest this season. Season overall was pretty decent, but not as good as the first, probably as a side effect of being made out of the stuff that was rejected from the the first season

Episode 12. In which it ends. Again.

Sometimes the seasons pass quickly.

Some people just aren't important enough to listen to.

It's just natural. She couldn't find anything wrong with cheese.

Fun story. Makes more sense than most dreams, though.

Those two are not equally good at that game.

I wonder if that'd spent all their animation budget on previous Scenery Porn so they couldn't afford more backgrounds.

Well, at least they don't have to compete for a good spot like in most other anime when they go flower viewing.

The least mainish characters are on camera duty. Not that anyone cares about the second one.

The part where the four are just sitting around waiting for Natsumi and Komari's mother was pretty interesting. I was expecting something crazy to happen, but nope, they just tried to pass the time as best they could

I find that that's pretty much what the series is about. They take what's otherwise plain and mundane, and make it interesting. They don't need anything special or amazing to happen to have fun. They make their own fun.

That's the main strength of Non Non Biyori — for something set in the countryside, there's always something to discover, there's always something for them new to do, and it never seems boring. That theecharacters are extremely charming helps as well. Yes, even Natsumi.

And the atmosphere — just this side of relaxing — just tops it off perfectly.

Oh my gosh, was that the last episode of the season? I can't handle it! I hope we at least get to see their vacation that they were about to go on in the OVA!

And it's done. Yep, this second trip to the countryside did not disappoint.

Oh, Komari. You should know by now that Renge takes jokes very seriously.

There's a lot more to Non Non Biyori than taking something plain and making it exciting or making one's own fun: it's the appreciation for the subtle, ordinary things in life that makes it possible for things to be discovered amongst the mundane. Coupled with the fact that most of the audience resides in urban areas, the anime depicts an idyllic life in the countryside, appealing to the viewer's sense of (perhaps unconscious) yearning for a simpler lifestyle.

Movie's out.

The movie was so much fun but, just like Natsumi and Hika, I got so sad when it was over. I shall not cry. I shall not cry. (T_T)

I don't know whether Renge and Honoka or Natsumi and Aoi gave me more of the feels. Maybe they're equal.

I thought Ren-chon's final drawing was gonna be the stars and the plankton, but it was somehow even more beautiful.

We got an S3 announcement

A third season is great news. Hopefully it's not another Repeat, but even if it is I'm ready to waaaaay relax with these folks again

Still waiting on the movie to be released on DVD/BD in America, hopefully with subs, but this is nice too.
