Funny how I don't remember people treating Chisame like terribly likely candidate back when Negima was ongoing. Post hoc rationalization is a hell of a drug.
In any case I mostly stopped caring about that particular mystery years ago. I'm mostly surprised Akamatsu bothered to answer it at all.
Looking back, Negima already had many early symptom of the problems that plague UQ Holder today. We just didn't notice it back then.
Franchise Original Sin, you mean.
As for Chisame winning, I'm alright with it.

I was always ok with Chisame, the start of the magic world arc made it clear that she was the only one solely there for Negi and not adventure too.
It would have been better if it had been Chisame and Negi from the word go in Negima as a full genderflip of the whole Otaku + Magical Girlfriend pairing.
Yeah, Asuna got that.
Which I'm totally fine with, because its obvious which side of the fence I'm on there.
Well that's.....an interesting turn.
I enjoyed the OVA for the most part; hearing Negima songs and seeing magic animated again was pretty nice. Still not sure why Kirie's hair is blonde now. All in all though if the anime is the same level of quality as the OVA then maybe it'll do decently well. At the very least I hope it gets far enough to where we see that 140 chapter fight animated. Just wanna see my boi Kotaro and Asuna one more time.
Well...that fight was underwhelming
So Shiori can actually do shit on the battlefield, huh? Shame we don't get to see what exactly that is.
So, what I got out of this Happy Ending flashback is that Touta's plan to Time Freeze Ialda at the instant before she can re-possess someone, and then revive the former possessee... would actually work?
That's without Cutlass getting in the way with her own time magicks of course, but, that's still kind of a surprise.
This still doesn't answer one thing though: What in the hell happened to Arika? One of the main reasons Nagi rejected Eva in the past was that he was already married so... apparently Arika's dead in the Happy Ending Universe. But why and how?
Death by Ialda?
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."We'll never know, because Akamatsu doesn't care about her. The only two scenarios I can imagine that she was indeed either possessed by the Lifemaker, or used the spell that sealed the Lifemaker away at the cost of her own life. If there's anything that could put the Lifemaker on lockdown, the royal family might have it.
Don't see how. I'm betting Negi dies no matter what happens here, but I forgot about that stupid time stop thing they can do. I guess that could work. Its pretty damn weak that a time distortion could actually work on the Lifemaker, but whatever.

First episode of the anime is out and while the voices seem wrong it was still entertaining. It has been a while since I read the beginning of the series but I think things were a little streamlined and they added a bit more foreshadowing but it otherwise seems to be sticking with the manga. Also nice to hear the original Negima opening song again.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellNot a bad episode, and I'm glad they don't hold back on the blood. Touta's voice is definitely way too childish, and I feel Yukihime's should also be deeper (but it can't be helped in her case as it's probably as deep as Matsuoka can go). Animation was great, but that's to be expected for a first episode.
Now I'm extremely baffled to see Mizore but not Santa in the possee… If I recall, Mizore is introduced pretty late, like 4th or 5th arc. ô.Ô Actually, I'm worried to see that the opening and ending focus on the romcom rather than the action…
That end card after the credits had way too many clothes for a Mashima drawing.

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.I'll give it this much credit...the anime studio clearly give much more of a shit, animation wise, for this show than the Negima anime ever got.
The only decent UQ character...get's shunted for Mizore.
Why even live?
I liked the episode, but the opening and endings really worry me.
Is Santa being left as a 'surprise', or are they actually replacing him, and with Mizore of all characters....?
Hmm, maybe Santa is being left out of the opening because he starts off as an antagonist?
Sure, but again why is Mizore there? She's literally completely irrelevant to...everything in this series. I mean, I guess the precedent with Makie is there, but still, she's honestly farther removed from everything compared to Ikkuu.
Yeah, that doesn't make any sense. Though it does match the Akamatsu standard for inserting random lolis where they don't belong.
So Cutlass's true name is Tena Vita. Also, people are commenting that she's a amalgamated clone of Asuna and Fate's harem And her One-Winged Angel form suggests that she's got ME as well. According to Jinbe, she still has a few more transformations to go.
Great fight choreography between Tena and Gengoro. He spends a good portion of the fight in nude, but his body's obscured by black, probably to preserve the dramatic atmosphere, but the same never happened before for the females who fought in the nude, I wonder why (siderolls)

Even though Akamatsu might butcher it, having an artifact doesn't denote any kind of ancestry whatsoever. Its almost near certain she's still a Negi/Asuna clone. Frankly, she reminds me more of Dynamis's MIGHTY GENERAL MODE, but the arms are a dead ringer for Negi's wacky accessories.
Point taken. Yeah. I can see Dynamis there.

Well, we know for certain that she has Magia Erebea because they comment on her having it and in Gengorou's HUD he can see that she has the 'Black of Venus' equipped.
Hm, so episode 2 of the anime skips Shinobu entirely and directly introduces Kuroumaru and Karin. So far it's pretty good.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Shinobu's already been skipped?
...Welp, unless they introduce her later, I'm sensing a rehash of XEBEC anime coming on.
I'm cool with Chisame winning. I was never particularly fond of her, but she's acceptable.
I hate the treatment Asuna got throughout everything though. For a character that's as important to the overall plot, she got punted off to the side and didn't do a single damn thing. The climax to the fight was the exact same as it was in the MM arc, which is a complete and total ripoff.
What a waste.
