I've been a fan since Dynasty Warriors 3. I do believe I've played a demo of 2 many years ago on a display PS 2 at Circuit City (yes, that store that no longer exists), but DW 3 was my first entry into the series. And also the first game I ever got on my PS 2. So naturally, of course, the first game I got for the PS 3 was Dynasty Warriors 6.
I've owned all the main games from 3 to 7 so far and also got 5 Xtreme Legends but I don't own it anymore. Don't have 8 yet, but it looks good. A lot of people like to make fun of it saying it's the same game every time, and they're right, but I've always put in tons of hours into each game. I think 5 was the best one of the series so far.
I also do like how the English voice acting has gotten better over the years. Only downside is we will no longer get those memetic lines like "YOU FLAMING IDIOTS!!!"
FEEL THE POWER OF MY
Big fan! 4-7 so far, looking to pick up 8 when it's a little cheaper. Agree that 5 was the best so far (would be better with proper camera control though).

this place needs me herePlayed 3-7, though only the Empires version of 6.
I enjoy the games very much, though I felt 7 was a little... okay. Hopefully 8 will improve upon that.
5 Empires is still my favourite. Should probably see if I can find a working copy for the PS 2.
I used to play them every so often, but mostly the PSP versions like Volumes 1 and 2 and Strikeforce, as well as Warriors Orochi 2. I've also played 3, 4 and 5 on occasion on PS 2 and once spent some time playing Dynasty Warriors Online on PC. To be honest, I played Samurai Warriors on PS 2 more than the Dynasty Warriors stuff.
Speaking of DW Online, it appears that game's closing in about a month, according to an email Aeria Games sent me. To be honest, I'm not surprised about this happening because it didn't seem like it was worth keeping up for so long, especially with all the refinements made to the series since then.
I have 8 desu!
Super Robot! SUPER ROBOT! ◥▶◀◤ Also, if some of my posts don't make sense, please take note that I might lack sleeAny reason why Tecmo Koei has yet to do games using certain Western conflicts like the American Civil War and the Franco Prussian War?

Because they are Asian based company with a key demographic in the Asian target audiences. The Warring Kingdoms setting does rather well.
The closest they got was
Blade Storm: The 100 years war. Which was less dynasty warriors and more like a poor copy of Kingdoms under fire.
They had the stinktastic Warriors of Troy as well.
But nothing that is in the same vein as Dynasty warriors.

Who watches the watchmen? They did one based on the Trojan War. Achilles even had a guest spot on Warriors Orochi 3.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatIt was like Dynasty Warriors only poorly made.

Who watches the watchmen?Tuefel already mentioned that at . And in regards to Koei not doing those conflicts since they're more Asia-centered, shame though. It would have been cool to play as Otto Von Bismarck.
He didn't have that when I posted.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatIndeed. I edited my post and got ninjad.
I was trying to remember if Blade Storm was Koei or not and had to go look it up. I had completely forgotten about Troy.

Who watches the watchmen?I was referring to him mentioning Warriors Of Troy.

Warriors of Troy was an edit.
Who watches the watchmen?Still pertains to what maxwellelvis talked about at , ergo, you beat him to the punch.
Um no I didn't. You aren't paying attention. Troy was an edit to the post. Max made his post before I put in my edit. My edit included both Troy and Blade Storm. I had my edit open for so long that his post hit before my edit did. From The closest they got down is the new info.
There is an edit time stamp in the post. My edit was made 3 minutes after his post.

Who watches the watchmen? What a silly argument.
this place needs me hereMore like an explanation about the mechanics of the time stamps at this point. It is useful info.
I have played both Troy and Blade Storm and I was disappointed both times.
Sadly Blade Storm is nothing like the other Dynasty Warrior titles.
You are an officer but you can't fight alone you have to have a squad to do anything. You have pay for your own forces, you can lose said forces, and the general feel of the game is less hack and slash and more paper, rock, scissors game play. I has the colour and some of the flash but it lacks that you are a legendary warrior feel. More like they mashed up an RTS with the Dynasty warrior series.
Troy was closer but it feels like they didn't put the effort into it. No musou, a very linear story, many of the sound effects are phoned in including one that sounds like someone stabbing a cork with a table knife and pulling it out. The voice actors are ok but the music was boring.
The game lacked the flash, colour, and epic over top action you find in the usual Dynasty Warriors titles.
It had some ok features. The super attack mode you could mow down troops but it lacked the same flare as the musou attacks. The execution attacks were kinda cool. You could beat an enemy not quite to death and get a chance to kill them instantly. You could one shot fleeing enemies or enemies who had turned their back on you. There was a mechanic to pick up and throw enemy troops weapons at them often killing most or causing serious damage.

Who watches the watchmen? You'd almost think it was made for (Taito's perception of) primarily Western audiences.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatKinda funny considering the Dynasty Warriors games are pretty popular in the west as well.
I had fun with the Gundam versions though.
Ninety Nine Nights is about as close as you can get for a Western Europeanish Dynasty Warriors. More fantasy writ large then European History based story.
If they ever take another crack at a Western history one I would go for the Greeks vs the Persians. We could get the Epic Scale, crazy legends, and broad feel of a massive conflict.

My bad. Sorry
Don't you mean "Koei?"
Yeah Koei. It was out before it became Tecmo Koei.
Who watches the watchmen? You know, I'd love to see a Dynasty Warriors that crosses over historical/mythological figures from all over the world. ...I guess that would essentially be Fate/Stay Night: Warriors Orochi version. It'd be so fun.
In other news... I just Platinum'd 6: Empires and was reminded why I vastly prefer 5's version, and I'm struggling to work up the will to get that 1000 Battles Trophy in 7XL. Sure would be nice if it told me how far away I still am, after bothering to get everyone's Seals.
I think I understand where the Gameplay for Blade Storm came from. It looks similar to their Kessen series. Not a clone but the various bits of game play are rather similar.
I never got into empires I preferred the more direct action versions.
Speaking of versions anyone play the online Dynasty Warriors game?
Who watches the watchmen?
Weird, we don't have a thread for this one yet (there is a thread for Dynasty Warriors 7). So, has anyone played any of the games yet?
